Can we get one far enough away to see what you did sizewise and how it is laid out? The photos are lovely, but won't let me get a sense of scale.
-
Brilliant atmosphere in these pictures. More please!

Great stuff, good to see the Highgate Vampire Queen in occupation ;) :)
-
Magnificent Guy. Unbelievably creepy and evocative. Love it.
The hag creature lurking is deeply unsettling :-*
This shot through the trees is my favourite so far... Superb.

Sinewgrab; I'll take some distance photos next weekend, suffice to say I don't have a big enough back drop for it...
Richard; mine too! Have a look at Samuel Palmer's work ;) Victorian artist.
Nick; she's my favourite miniature at the moment, great sculpt :-*

That is not a place I would go near at night. lol
Fantastic work. That would be amazing to see up close. Thanks for all the extra pictures.

I agree- wonderful photo.
-
Hah! like shots from a Hammer House of Horror, except the colour balance is better than my TV managed in the 70's...
Very impressed by those trees, did you use roots as well as twigs?
-
Thank you :) All the trees were made with roots, and either smaller roots, wire or seamoss.
-
Creepy! Very atmospheric!!

Thanks all :)

That's fine - while your shots give it a great feel, I am trying to get an idea of the ACTUAL size and layout. I can't from the photos, and for me, that really stops me from getting a feel for what you did, if that makes sense. It's like I'm trying to see an elephant from 20 up close photos, that aren't laid in any pattern.

Actual size is about 60 cm across the front by 30 cm,the hill is maybe 5cm,the depth of the river 3cm at its lowest point. Have you had a look at my build thread?
PS the tower itself is about 15cm,the miniatures are all 28 mm,Highgate, Games Workshop,Redbox Games and Hasslefree. The animals are Otherworld,Eureka, the fish I can't remember. All trees are scratch built, everything else is either scratch or lazer etch(the ferns),water is two part resin, and the board is foam, phew ;D

And you have to find the butterfly. lol

I did actually - I may not be explaining myself well. Your build thread went from straight down shots at the base to close ups of everything, so there is no chance to actually see it all at once - everything is close enough that I can't see the scale of the tower to the base, how big or small figures are in relation to the overall piece. Gah, I don't know if I am making sense.
It feels like everything is like this photo
(https://myalbum.com/photo/njzNq7tcdEfG/1k0.jpg)
But none of them are like this
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/38/1352-300419041446-38839450.jpeg)
I guess I can't put them all together in my head without a pulled back shot that gives me the whole picture. I dunno, maybe I should go back to sleep.
-
what absolutely wonderful photos of a fantastic set-up :-*
-
Thanks Bloggard :)

A gothic romance I think I am in love.
Very inspirational.
-
This is incredible work, Guy - I love it! Lots of detail, and I really like the colour-palette. This is really pleasing for me to look at and explore - well done!
-
Thanks both :)
-
Oh, wow. That is bloody gorgeous as a full piece. That's what I was looking for, thank you. Now I can parse where the rest of it goes without getting lost.
-
I love all the various entries as I wish I could create all of them... but this remains my favorite. Even more impressive in this shot. I think I missed the dead guy in the water in front of the vampire before. Hard to appreciate these entries remotely.
-
Oh dear,he fell before I noticed the photo...It’s telling its own story now :)
Thanks fellas :)
-
Fantastic scenery piece and great paintjobs on the minis :)
-
Thanks mate,it was a lot of fun to do :)
-
It's a beautiful piece of work. Richard

Thanks Bloggard :)

and this 'au naturel' photo, showing, as it does, a terrain board that most of us I'm sure would be very happy to get anywhere close to in terms of modelling etc, also underlines how much art there is in the 'narrative' photos preceding it.
they take it a whole step or two further up, and I hope that hobby publications move towards this quality in time to come.
lighting, framing etc is still lacking in many commercial efforts where figures in terrain are featured.
-
Thanks fellas, and Thankyou Bloggard, much appreciated :) It's all in my head lol
-
Best thing I’ve seen on LAF for a long long time!
-
Thank you Kitsune :)

Have to agree with that. I've only just seen this thread. What beautiful work! Otherworldly and very atmospheric. Superb.
-
and only just clocked the Samuel Palmer refs! Brilliant.
-
Thanks all I really appreciate your kind comments :)
Yep,Samuel Palmer has informed my style ever since I discovered him, in my 20s,I see him as a romantic realist, obviously he was of that rather loose term a romantic, that or a symbolist ;)
-
What everybody else said...so good :)
-
Thanks man :)
-
just coming back to this community. Great piece of scenery! Thanks for sharing.
-
Awesome. Very atmospheric!
