Having recently rediscovered my painting mono after rather a long lay off and having thoroughly enjoyed Ash's solo space hulk youtubes I thought I might venture a homemade version of the same.
A root through the closet of despair turned up a box of colony 19 floor plans (rpgdrivethru) ready mounted and almost enough bits and pieces to fund the entire enterprise.
Doors consoles hyper sleep pods and God knows what else.
All I would really need would be about thirty feet of walls making to really spruce things up.
Terminators always seemed a bit stationary for me and I wanted something a little more sleeker and mobile for my protagonists so out with the bits box man and create. Points will be awarded for correct identification of bits used (no money alternative)
Wanted something stormtrooperish without going the full white so plumped for a more reserved bone flavoured armour.
Gribblies were another thing mantic nighstalkers would replace the gw genestealers (too damn big compared to the other figures) and give a nice space/horror vibe along with a small herd of giant space weevils (gw cursemites) to provide some lighter target practice.
So that's what we have so far included some test pieces of the walls to provide a bit of staging.
Happy viewing

Hey, I think the back packs come from Space Marines, I've been using some of those myself on a special squad of my own.
-
Hey I think you're right :)

Wow!! Fantastic work! Love the conversions - those are some of my favorite Pig Iron heads too.

Little update on progress
Completely forgot I had these guys floating in the limbo of the bits box.
Again a more reserved paint job on the armour not one form the purists but that's just me.
Got some more doors done and a bit of scatter pieces to clog the rooms up with.
Don't think the space marines actually fit through the smaller doors not without taking most of the paint off their shoulder pads anyway.
More to come

Great work on those kitbashed void viridians, they've never looked better.
Where do the walls come from? They look really good too..
-
Nice work.
-
Hubbabubba thanks. The walls are home made. 5mm foam board painted grey then lines drawn on with a tech pen then painted to look like panels.
Simples

They're really effective, you've done an excellent job of painting them, the chipping etc really sets them off.

Little update got all the doors done finally.
Bit daunting when they're all lined up in front of you
Onward to the knjghtstalkers and consoles and everything else
Thanks hubbabubba

Very cool work. I love the effort you've gone to for the background. I keep meaning to do the same but never seem to be able to actually sit down to do it. Keep up the excellent work.
-
Thanks chickenbane :)
Trying out some experimental set ups floor plans only I'm afraid.
Going for a more roomy than corridory feel
Enjoy

Got the first two sections finished

You definitely want to shoot those from a distance!

Really great stuff! I love the modded Marine types, the bits bashing is really fun. Those termie heads work well to me!
-
Syrinx0-agreed much too stabby
Ragsta- thanks I know it's rule of proportion smaller heads on taller bodies but they just looked too small for me hence the terminator heads.
Three salty looking dudes just finished
Psychic captain?
Daughter and first mate?
And reprogrammed war droid, FU-11?
Just me again then

Loving the IKore conversions as well. Very well done for such simple conversion.

Look what daddy did this weekend.
Had to have a major rethink regards not space hulk terrain. The mock ups seen in the previous pics were all 60mm high and when coupled with the lack of suitable storage made for some hard choices.
Not to be disheartened a quick trip to rpgdrivethru yielded the very reasonably priced industrial spacecraft corridors and rooms map sets (plus free transporter room).
And despite my embarrassing level of technical incompetence (3 speedily answered emails, hats off to the support staff for their patience and understanding) and about five hours cutting and glueing later...eh voila!
One very large not space hulk 2d terrain map plus doors.
There are a few duplicates to make up enough corners and straights but there are still loads more corridors and some frankly massive rooms (the hanger in particular) still to be mounted up.
Filled up the old space hulk box I had lying around so gives some idea of the magnitude.
Lovely product and well worth the very reasonable price.
With the terrain now done it's onward to playtime!
More to come

I love the conversions & terrain.
What you've done with foamboard & a brush looks fantastic!
Subscribed :)

The map tiles are all mounted on foam core? Those look pretty slick.
I feel you on the storage aspects of terrain. I've dropped to half height walls when rebooting my terrain collections because of storage issues. I don't know if I'll ever go full 2-d, but those tiles certainly give me pause to consider it!

Thanks fluff and cooky
Yes all foam board brought from hobbycraft four a4's for a tenner.
Pva'ed them down but when I cut them out I had the horrible white foam inners showing all the way round.
Could have painted them but it is long winded tedious and not very accurate.
One brainwave later.
Reprinted one of the larger rooms and cut the whole sheet into 5mm strips then prit sticked them all the way round.
Even without pattern matching it still looks good.

Oh, yeah, I actually thought that the map had built in fold over tabs for that purpose. Even better if you just printed and glued on the edges. I would have bet money they came that way at first glance.
-
Thought I'd posted some more pics of them but can't seem to pin them down. So I'll repost them for you here.

Great looking game. The terrain and figures look ace.

That does look really great, I might have to get some boards like that.

These really are fantastic. Well done. Love FU-11.
