Title: The Gentlemen of Much-Piddling
Post by: Mad Lord Snapcase on July 22, 2020, 11:27:19 AM
After much dilatoriness, procrastination, apathy, inertia, dormancy and lethargy, Doug ex-em4, Vagabond and myself have applied some deliberation, pontification, consultation, cogitation and confabulation to the naming of our little group of friends and wargamers.

We have all been members of this forum for some time but thought it would nice to announce the new title of our gaming group.

We are henceforth to be known as:

The Gentlemen of Much-Piddling

The Gentlemen of Much-Piddling provides a collective and collocative title for the foibles, pettifogging, quirks, idiosyncranicities, waffling and hyperbole of three charming, sophisticated and erudite gentlemen of distinction, who rise above the hoi-polloi and riff-raff to bring a touch of style and class to wargaming.

This is our new logo and we have adopted Rudyard Kipling's famous quote as our motto.

I’m feeling all warm and mushy at being thus honoured....

A Gentleman of Much Piddling

Is there really such a place? I ask since I use Much Piddling in the Marsh as a default town name for ECW actions. Hoi polloi living there complain at great length, but should think of the tourist revenue in future ages.

Splendid.
Along with that WW1 battlefield that I too once had the pleasure of playing on  :)
Carry on Piddling.

Welcome Gentlemen! It is an honour to see those faces of brothers in arms hovering in the skies over Much-Piddling...  lol

I feel a bit like a water skier being towed along by a motor boat driven by a pair of madmen.

"Where too next" I hear one shout to the other. "Oh what about Niagra we can see if Vagabond is able to jump the water fall". "That's a spiffing idea" they shout in unison, and we're off.

Oh well, it'll be an interesting ride.   o_o o_o lol lol

Excellent! I do hope the Gentlemen keep up with their very entertaining threads on the Pulp Board?

That WWI table is excellent isn't it? Except when you end up drawing the game because it's so realistic that you've left men in the basements during the evacuation!

While visiting Bovington Tank Museum I saw a sign that extolled
the local beer, 'We use real Piddle in our Ale'.

May you enjoy many a good time in piddling together.

Do let us know how you get on, when you have a free hand or to to write up some Battle reports, entertaining adventures etc?

We'll do our best, Sir.....First, I need to post the utterly disappointing and tedious final turn of my current AAR on the Pulp Board. Then we need to start drip feeding stuff about what we’re planning for DevLAM20.

Welcome aboard (again) to a top bunch of well known and (somewhat  ;)) respected Piddlers of the finest pedigree.

Please do, as I am waiting for that final turn before reading it.

Thank you - much appreciated; we're making more comebacks than Take That, although we’re obviously more talented and attractive than them.

Final move posted, btw :)

I thought you reminded more of Bros, with Vagabond obviously the quieter chap at the back.

Righto, that is my morning read sorted.
Looking forward to it.

They can hold their liquor, but not for very long.

Very true, Cat! With our combined ages, the three of us are not far short of 200 years, a scary thought!

Years ago, I used to work around that area. There is (or was) a pub at Piddletrenthide called The Piddle Inn. The River Piddle runs nearby and the landlord of the pub used to sell bottles of river water to tourists labelled 'Piddle Water'.

Aye, Captain, it is indeed a wondrous thing. All credit to SI.

Thanks all for your kind comments. There are some Gentlemen of Much-Piddling reports on various boards already but this years big event (Covid permitting) will be our annual meeting, DevLAM '20. Much madness is being planned for this bun-fight!
