I’m loving the new neffs being brought out by Brigade Models at the moment (some of the designs are a little off but that’s just a personal opinion).
I’ve got myself a couple of fleets but wanted to start with a few cargo neffs to get myself comfortable doing them.
The one on the left is of the newer type (3D designed, printed then cast) and the right one is the older sort (traditional modelmaking).

I’ll hopefully get plenty more done and then play with them with the Wiley Games Starfighters rules using the Fleet Battles expansion in the back.

Gorgeous work!
I love the Brigade models, especially their newer 3d kits in the Neff and Starship range. I particularly like the cargo and civilian vessels they do :)
-
Thanks :)
Yes, the starships are rather nice as well 8)
-
They look really good. They're nice models, well painted.
-
Me likey a lot
-
Smooth ;D
-
Nicely done Sir!
-
Thank you kindly gents :)
Got a few more cleaned and primed and will try and get them done over the weekend.
Need to sort out some new bases as well.
-
Nice job mate 8)
-
Cheers fella :)
Got one of the big ones done over the weekend. It's sold by Brigade as Spanish but I'm going to use it as Japanese as I prefer the design of these to the 'official' Japanese ones.
Just noticed that I forgot to do the barrel ends ::)

Looks excellent. Looking forward to you doing this in 28mm to add to your excellent collection ;D
-
Very swish! :-*
-
Thanks :)

lol
It would be around 1350mm. Not impossible but not practical (especially when I've already got rather large Mikasa underway :D )
-
The last one is particularly nice, my favourite so far

More or less practical than suggesting that I should build The Wall ?
;) lol
-
lol lol
So much more less lol
I seem to remember the Wall would have to be seven foot high for 28mm lol

Probably more like 10-12’ lol
I look forward to seeing the Mikasa
-
I’ll dig it out eventually lol
Got another couple of little cruisers done but the photos of them didn’t turn out so here’s some of what’s been done so far.

Lovely work! I love the bases too :D
-
Love those, they have such a great pre-dreadnought feel to them, and the colours work really well.
-
Thanks chaps :)
-
Beautiful...although I’m surprised you haven’t added signal flags ;) ;D

Already have French ships and got some British ones on the way. I think I’ll keep the Brits and the French as they are.
-
Very nice, indeed! :-*
Looking forward to seeing the British and the French.
-
Lovely ships so far, I salute you for adding rigging! Is that cotton thread?
The paint jobs are very nice, I like that previously Spanish one's design and paintjob in particular.
The bases really help add to the quality, where are they from?
-
Very nice.
Tony

The rigging looks great. I never even put the masts on mine, because the cast metal is so fragile and I’m clumsy. I want to solder up wire masts, but never got around to it.
-
Many thanks chaps :)

Yes, cotton sealed with a bit of thin superglue. The bases were lasered from 5mm acrylic. The acrylic rod was cut to length (about 50mm) and drilled with a hole in one end to allow the brass rod that’s in the bottom of the neff to slot in. These are all Brigade Spanish ships.
*Edit for rubbish typing lol
-
Brilliant work!

I'd be interested in seeing something like this available commercially? :D
Would be great for my Aeronef and Full Thrust fleets :)
-
Am I right in thinking that those bases are fully FfoL Starships Fleet rules compatible?
-
Thanks again :)

Potentially but the acrylic was done by hand as I don't have a table saw to do them en masse. Drop me a pm and we'll see what happens :)

That's the idea yes but I'm sure they could be used for other rule sets.
-
Absolutely they could, it's a very common facing arrangement. Those bases are ideal.
-
Got the first of the French fleet done. I swapped out the main turret for one of the normal ones as I felt it fit better.

"They call me the Cruiser because I like cars and fast women"...Looking great, sir.
-
Nicely done Sir!
-
Nice looking ship.... errr..... Neff.
-
Thanks chaps :)
-
Got some more French done. I’m working on one of the big ones currently and when that’s done I’ll get the sea mat and terrain out :)

I must admit I wasn't so keen on the color scheme at first.
But when I see a group of them... well... they look great. :-*
-
Cheers Ray :)
Yes, wasn't too convinced myself but they've turned out ok.
-
Looking smashing!
-
Thank you :)
Finished off a French battleship. Two more tiny cruisers to go and this fleet is done.
Just noticed that I haven’t dotted in the windows ::)
I’ll do it tomorrow and take a better picture.
-
Lovely work! I do love the French sculpts. The armoured hulls give them a distinctive look that stands out from their terrible foes, the British! :D
-
Great work yet again mate. I love these French sculpts and how you have painted them. I have to keep reminding myself I have no time for yet another genre.
-
Thanks chaps :)
New, slightly better picture added.
-
Wow! :-*
That's the cat's pajamas!
-
Thanks :)
Got two little destroyers done to make the French first fleet complete. Got a British battleship prepped now.
-
Sleek and sexy....
-
Very nice work on these. I am really a big fan of Brigade's range of Aeroneffs, and in fact I bought one last year to have a go at. I should actually do that some time soon... Quite like the look of the Imperial Skies rules, too.
-
Cheers :)
Got the first British ship done.

Do it! lol
I played the fleet version of Wiley Games Starfighters and it worked very well. Needs a bit of tweaking but not much at all.
-
She came out well. :-*
Looks powerful.
-
Thanks :)

Nice work James :-*
-
The New Sculpts from Brigade are really nice.
I wish I picked those up rather than the old sculpts, even though I got a good discount. :)
-
Belated thanks gents :)
Finished off a couple of the defence platforms; Japanese of course :)

Nice Jim :-* :-* :-*
Did you not build one of these in 28mm?
-
Cheers :)
Yes, it should be in my Mars thread. It's a bit different to these though.
-
Steampunk flying saucers! They came out a treat.
Your whole skyship collection is looking brilliant. Do you have a specific campaign or scenario in mind for these, or are you collecting a cornucopia of cloud-crossing conveyances?
-
Cheers :)
Nothing specific but they will no doubt be tied into my Mars project somehow.
-
Finished off a couple of merchant ships and a selection of British. Also took some ‘better’ photos of everything painted so far :)
(‘Better’ being subjective lol )

Nice work on great models!
-
Thanks chaps :)
-
Lovely work... but, ah where's the crashed variants, Jim? lol lol lol
-
Nicely painted up fleets well done!
The last group remind me of the Imperial Russian circular ironclad, the Novgorod?
Cheers!
-

Yeah, they’re from the Russian range which also has a couple of the round ships 8)
-
Some really great fleets here! I’ve just been looking at the Brigade ranges - I feel these photos will just encourage me to spend more!
-
This might not be in the spirit of the thing (!) but how to the gun platforms keep station?? Do they have engines to offset the recoil from the guns?
I assume the antigrav tech is cavourite or liftwood or whatever but that doesn't do anything in the horizontal dimension (er, so to speak...)
P.S. Gorgeous models!
-
That is the trim master's job to worry about. lol
Great looking models!
-
Thanks :)

Got no idea and to be honest, not that bothered lol
The 28mm one I made a few years ago was tethered to the ground but if I were to make another then a ‘ring’ of propellers around the circumference would probably do the trick :)
-
Lovely work :-* :-* :-*
They are Sci Fi, even if it is Victorian, don't need to know how they work they just do :D
You need to do more of these in 28 mm
-
Imagine they'd be quite suitable For castles in the Sky, or is there a secret Wiley project....?
-
Amazing models James. :-*
-
Cheers :)

Shush lol

Just the Starfighters rules (using the fleet rules) and I'll probably be getting Imperial Skies at some point soon.
-
Ok. Now you put me following this thread. o_o
As if i needed more projects... ::)
Nice collection. :-*
-
Cheers fella :)
I bought one of the 'digs' at Colours just to see what it was like and I was impressed. I've painted it in British colours (well, it's got a British flag on it lol ) and added some rigging along the spines.
Not sure about the blue background as I'm trying to find something that works for all of my neffs but no luck yet.
