I've started running occasional Traveller games with some friends, and I'm also going to be running some for my kids. The grown-up game's remote, but the kids' game may well involve miniatures. I also like the idea of using Traveller as a skirmish game; as far as I can see, it just needs some movement and sequence rules added (I may look at Snapshot for that, although I've heard mixed things about it).
We're using the classic Traveller rules, and I'm not going to pay too much attention to the background stuff that came later. I'll keep the Imperium and the Vargr, Aslan and Droyne, but I like how the early set-up leave lots of room for other alien species, including star-faring ones. So there'll probably be a hint of Mos Eisley as well as the Star Viking/Dumarest of Terra stuff.
This will also allow me to revive a long-abandoned Alien Squad Leader project; I have the rules and lots of sabot bases ready to go. And we'll probably get a few games of Fubar in with the same figures.
These are the first three. I think the third one could well do duty as an Aslan at some point.

Very cool 15mms... please post your progress regularly.
Oh, and I hope that’s a tail between the legs of a third one... :D

He's mad because someone stole his pants. >:(
Great work on those minis. I haven't seen the particular sculpts before.

Wow, those look amazing! Inspiring.
I guess I better place an order for those BMM Nevis aliens. They look awesome.
-
Thanks, gents. It's not quite clear what that is between the Blue Moon Averum's legs; they all seem to have a sort of pointed abdomen that they're not too bothered about protecting ...
Cacique Caribe - yes, the Blue Moon stuff's great - and the Nevis are particularly nice, I think.
Here are a few more that I finished last night. I've pretty much abandoned 15mm for fantasy (barring, perhaps, a Gloranthan excursion), now that I use 1/72 for Hordes of the Things and 28mm for roleplaying (clearer over Zoom for our lockdown games!). So I'm repurposing unpainted fantasy stuff for sci-fi and nicking Jagannath's tremendous "conversion by paint" approach (as in the blue-skinned primitive here, who's actually an Alternative Armies orc).
Some fantasy figures are too baroque to fit in with Traveller-esque sci-fi, I think. That includes a lot of the best - much of the Demonworld range, for example. But a lot of others work OK.
I need to redo the right eye of the fat chap with the pistol. But I thought I'd include him for now: surely nothing screams "Far Future" like a portly fellow in a combination of sportswear, red boots and turquoise harem pants!

The squat little blue skinned guy reminds me of Lord Commander from Final Space:

Who makes that “Averum” figure?

Who makes that “Averum” figure?
Dan
He's from Blue Moon - the Averums are in the same range as the Nevis.

Wow, I don’t know how I missed those. Thanks so much!

I have been buying the alternative armies 15mm scifi for traveller style games. Very old school space opera.

I love Traveller! It's what really got me into sci-fi miniatures. To the point I have too many figures to choose from! ;D

I have Traveller (and Traveller-inspired) figures in both 15mm and 25/28 mm (that way lies madness). My favorites are the old Grenadier figures, which were the official Traveller figures and helped set the mold for what certain things looked like. Have one set of the Imperial Marines painted up, and am painting a second "squad." Am not using the maroon color scheme, as I see that as being their dress uniform; painting them in a green color scheme instead, for planet-side or shipboard use.
-
If you want 15mm Imperial Marines, Ground Zero Games UNSC marines might work.
I am not sure where the maroon colour came from, as I painted them a sand colour.

However, looking at the box, I can see why maroon was a choice.

I’m still salivating over those photos. What fantastic results!

Good work!

Nice dude, your 15s are looking ace.

I use Ground Zero Games UNSC Marines in hardsuits to round out my 25mm Grenadier Traveller Imperial Marines too (the distinctive helmets are pretty close). I also use GZG's 15mm UNSC Marines for 15mm Imperial Marines. Denizen Venturians make excellent 25mm Zhodani. In 15mm, Eureka Venturian figures are excellent for Zhodani, as are Darkest Star Ventaurans. The Eureka are a bit chunkier than the Darkest Star, so don't mix them in the same unit (I use one set for Lift Infantry, and the other for Consular Guards).

Nice work,
Thanks for sharing.
There are loads of 15/18 mm miniature companies which would be great for traveller , I remember
using 15mm .co.uk / Alternative armies for it, years ago and scratchbuilt vehicles.
And with the advent of 3D printers the possibilities are endless.
Keep it up.

And the level of quality of the sculpts has only improved with each passing year.

(Belated) thanks, guys!
Playing The Battlefield has got me thinking about 15mm again, not least because a unit is just four men. So I've been dabbling in the scale a bit this week. These foxy fellows are perhaps not quite finished, but they're near enough.
-
Those Look really great! Nice paint work on the heads for that fox look too!
-
Thats incredible detail, and they really work well as space foxes....
Might have to pinch this idea for mine.
-
15mm is a great scale for Traveller, since individual figures are so reasonably priced, and there are so many options.
Lots of vehicles too, and some even make spacecraft for them in this scale.
The tanks below are Topgun 15mm Grav Tanks and IFVs very nicely painted by a couple of customers.
I want to create a good sized spaceport in this scale, for various gaming scenarios and battles.
25mm, 28mm, and the Clix 32mm/34mm figs work well also.
-
If you want some inspiration on that spaceport project, this is worth a look.
