I paid a visit to Fort Loudoun in the great state of Tennessee. It was enlightening and interesting. Well worth a visit.
You can see my photo-survey of the fort here https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2020/10/photo-survey-fort-loudon-tennessee.html (https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2020/10/photo-survey-fort-loudon-tennessee.html)

I loved the bit about “special "ultra-high-glare glass" that only museums have access to ..”
So, very, very, true.

Thanks for the photo tour, Anton. You covered the site very thoroughly. I visited Fort Loudon in 2003. It looks like a lot has been added since then. Now I want to go back.
As I recall, the Sequoyah Birthplace Museum, operated by the Eastern Band Cherokees, is just up the road from Fort Loudon. I spent half a day at each museum. If you're in the neighborhood, I recommend a visit:

Also not far, just the other side of the Blue Ridge (maybe 30 miles as the crow flies, 50 or 60 miles by road) is Cherokee, North Carolina, the home of the Eastern Band. There is a fine museum, an arts center, the Oconoluftee Indian Village, and Cherokee is an excellent base to explore the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, which surrounds it. I didn't much care for Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, on the north side of the Park, but they are very popular party towns.

It's beautiful country for a road trip, and there's a lot for the history buff to see.

Thanks for the pointers Zippy. I pass through Tennessee several times a year and am always looking for places of interest.
If anybody is interested in the other forts that I have been to you can find them here https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/p/fortified-places-that-i-have-visited.html (https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/p/fortified-places-that-i-have-visited.html)
My personal favorite is the Castillo de San Marcos which I have visited about a dozen times
