Title: Frostgrave: Red King and plastic Demons
Post by: nicknorthstar on November 21, 2020, 07:25:03 PM
We're getting the next Frostgrave release ready. Fingers crossed it'll all be ready 10th December.

The new supplement from Joe, The Red King, is here from the printers. The Red King introduces the Demon army to Frostgrave, so North Star/ Osprey are releasing a plastic box set of demons soldiers.

There will also be a small metal figure release including the Nullmen, the Foulhorn & Red King Demon characters.

There's some pictures here:

Ooh, nice.

Any chance of a sprue picture?

Now how will they work in Oathmark?

Stick some Oathmark Goblin heads on them and now you have Armoured Orcs/Goblins!

Yup - or armoured gnolls in the case of the ones with digitigrade legs. There's huge potential for good conversions. For armoured orcs, shaving the horns off (or adding a helmet) might do the trick too.

I really like those. Will be great for all sorts, and most easily of all, an infernal army suitable for all sorts of fantasy projects!

And a bit of putty-sculpting on the feet. The bare feet are arguable, but the hooves are not very orcish.

Likewise, wondering if the heads could work with Barbarians for beastmen, Mantic Ghoul or Zombie bodies for Renaissance barely-clothed demons, and the humanoid heads in particular could go with modern uniform bodies and the like for Star Wars or Star Trek aliens, or modern street clothes for Buffy demons...

Great ideas - this chap from Star Wars could be easily kitbashed:

Hi Folks.

The pre-orders for The Red King and the miniatures begins tomorrow.

There's an 'Early Bird' offer tomorrow (Friday 27th Nov) only, and that is if you type THEREDKING into the discount box, it'll knock £5 off the order total. You need to be buying at least £20 worth of stuff to qualify (one book or one box of Demons).

It's just tomorrow. But it might not be turned off till Sunday, I never told you that right?  lol

Looks like I forgot to comment here a month ago when I first saw the frame pictures - but better late than never...

Certainly, looking at the pictures these seem to be nice sculpts, and with a lot of conversion potential. Unlike many of the other Frostgrave plastics, these seem to be rather heavily armoured, which to me seems a bit surprising for demons - though not having read the book I do not know what is their background.

However, they look like an excellent source of well-armoured mutant humans, beastmen, half-demons etc. for a variety of settings. For example "oldhammerers" might want to consider using these for WHFB 3rd edition Chaos Thugs with the appropriate chaos attributes.
