Title: What 15mm Options Are There For “Umbar” Or “Harad”?
Post by: Cacique Caribe on November 27, 2020, 03:15:12 AM
So far the only fantasy “Arabs” (or medieval Persians?) I’ve found in 15mm are those by Splintered Light Miniatures and Peter Pig.

So, what other choices are there in 15mm for Umbarians or Haradrim (fantasy Arabs/Persians)?

Thanks.

Dan

There's a lot of choices.

Irregular Miniatures: https://www.irregularminiatures.co.uk/15mmRanges/15mmarabs.htm
Museum Miniatures "Z" range: https://www.museumminiatures.co.uk/indian-arab-hordes.html (more than this, just best page I could find)
Essex Miniatures: https://www.essexminiatures.co.uk/collections/15mm-ancient-arab-conquest-arab-empire
Khurasan Miniatures: http://khurasanminiatures.tripod.com/arab.html
Tin Soldier Miniatures: https://tinsoldieruk.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=413_186_193
Forged in Battle War & Empire: https://www.forgedinbattle.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=195_200_214

How most of these match up in terms of size is another question.

Wow, excellent sources.  Thanks!

Dan
PS.  Just curious ... what would you use for Easterlings?

What about Xyston's Scythians (https://www.scotiagrendel.com/Xyston/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_3_68_70&products_id=255&zenid=7ludm3slqcspddlbf0ac8osg71)? You get the beards, the not overly tall stature, and the axes.

You could also use Essex's Rus axemen (https://www.essexminiatures.co.uk/collections/15mm-ancient-asiastic-hordes/products/hsa15).

Or Museum Miniatures' Scythians (https://www.museumminiatures.co.uk/classical/skythian.html?p=1).

Also, for Variags, go for, er, Variags, aka Varangians. They could work as Easterlings too:

Also might be worth looking at Donnington Miniatures, they have a range of crusaders and all sorts of stuff hidden in their older ranges.

I’m working in 15mm atm and Peter Pig, Essex and Donnington all fit well though all three seem to have variance between their ranges. Just finished up a Splintered Light 15mm fantasy humans and I was surprised by how slight they are (gorgeous tho), but they still work with those above.

I can try and snap a quick shot if that’s useful?

If you are looking for Arab looking figures try War and Empire Dark Ages Arabs, they are the one I am considering for Harads.

I will use their Vikings for Dumbar, Normans for Gondor and Saxons for 'Dale' good humans

Khurasan Miniatures Khurasanians (link (https://khurasanminiatures.tripod.com/khurasanian.html)) might make good Easterlings. The only kink being no chariots (wainriders) if that is important.

I wonder if these guys are as “hefty” (buff?) as they look in the picture:
