Hi!
Playing Test of Honour I become more and interessted in japanese mythologie. I got some of the usual fairy tale books writen by western writers in the 19. century, but I'm not really satiesfied.
For introducing some scary enemies to my brave Uesugi samurai I need more inspiration, with nice pictures!
Any advices for books?
Cheers

The Night Parade of One Hundred Demons: A Field Guide to Japanese Yokai
By Matthew Meyer is a decent start. There are 2 more books in the Yokai series as well.

This is a fantastic (sorry for the pun) illustrated resource on Japanese folklore. Contains a wealth of material:

Not a book, but there's an older episode of Monster Talk that had a great discussion on Yokai, it might have been an interview with Meyer, but not sure.
A lot of the weird and monster and cryptid podcasts are ones that I haven't been able to really keep up with because of family who throw fits about having them on.
