Title: New Lurker For Strange Aeons...Hybrid!
Post by: Uncle Mike on September 01, 2009, 01:43:10 PM
So, now that there are some great looking fishy people available for your gaming pleasure here are some rules for 'em.

HYBRID (Human/Fishman)
Cost: 2BP
M 1D6, Dex. 5+, Con. 5/6, A 1, W 1, Res. 4+ Skills: none.
Weapons: Improvised (counts as a club)
Special: Humanoid
Non-Lethal Force: When dealing with civillians Threshold agents have been instructed not (whenever possible...) to kill. Hybrids resemble humanity and are often found in family units. They may not be human but can appear human enough at first glance to fool the casual observer. Any 'to hit' roll of '6' should be instantly changed to a '1'. No critical hits are possible on a Hybrid, but critical misses can still happen.

These rules are not written in stone yet but should work pretty well...let me know if anyone has any reservations/problems with 'em. Also, since Hybrids are Humanoid they may have additional weapons and skills...allowing you to build the whole creepy, fishy family...if you want. ;D

Sounds good  ;D

Here are suggestions for further skills:

Swim: Water counts as Open Terrain
Diving: A model in water counts as in Heavy Cover

Those rules might force the gamer to add a little bit more water to its scenery  :D

This looks promising. I ordered Strange Aeons on 23/8 still waiting for it to arrive here in Sweden though.

Necro-threading, but...

Please see this thread: Hybrids and the Non-Lethal Bonus (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=107138.0)

The big issue was when, if ever, a hybrid looses the Non-Lethal' bonus, as it was lethal to my Threshold models in Close Combat. Jamming up guns at a distance was bad, but turning '6's into '1's in Close Combat was a deadly bonus.

I was at a family reunion in Kelowna this past week, and had an opportunity to stop into the Pulp Figures production facility.  This was really just a way to skip the shipping costs, but it turned into a tour.

Bob Murch showed my better half, sister and myself around the different areas, saw: the design studio; the storage and packaging area, and the figure production shop.  Bob even showed us how figures were made by doing up a set of Deep Ones as we watched.

The big bonus on this visit was to see the prototype sculpts of upcoming Ghouls and Hybrids that Bob said were for a new Strange Aeons set.  I didn't take any pictures, but the work is fabulous.  They will be worth the wait, when they are announced.

Many thanks for Bob taking the time to help us out with the figures, and with the tour.

FYI: Figure sets acquired:
PGJ 2 and 4: Gangland Justice sets (Links: Bugs Malarchy's Mob (https://pulpfigures.com/products/view/68); These Guns For Hire (https://pulpfigures.com/products/view/70))
PHP 4 and 19: Dangerous Dames (Links: Dangerous Dames 1 (https://pulpfigures.com/products/view/21); Dangerous Dames 2 (https://pulpfigures.com/products/view/36))
PWM 4 and 5: Hooded Minions (Links: Evil Hooded Minions 1 (https://pulpfigures.com/products/view/45); Evil Hooded Minions 2 (https://pulpfigures.com/products/view/46))

Cthulhu 28: Masters of Devil Reef (Link: 33001 Masters of Devil Reef (https://www.cruciblecrush.com/cthulhu-28-s/))

Perhaps images will be posted, if I get around to painting any of the above.

I have finally gotten around to finishing some of the figures I bought in June, when I visited Bob Murch in Kelowna.

If the attachments work, you can see 5 Threshold members, and 7 Cultists.  These were picked out of four or five different packs of minis, not from one set, nor purchased separately.

Still plan to paint up more, but waiting to file and clean up the figures (not that they need much, but there are seams I want to hide), and more bases from my local hobby store.

The moderator and rules writer hasn't logged in for almost 7 months. Is there a contact us on his website?

Uncle Mike has been busy working on the production of models for his latest Kickstarter, Von Unaussprechlichen Kulten, the sister game of Strange Aeons.  His website has a contact us page and he has also been active over on the VUK kickstarter page.
