Some suggestions for you:

Try Copplestone Castings for Britsh sailors in classic naval rig.

Redoubt Miniatures produce a Victoriana range with crew specifally for Landships. They are rolled up sghirtsleeves and braces type figures. They also produce British Infantry and artillery figures in home service kit.

For a real VSF themed figures try Parroom Station miniatures available from the London Warroom. They have figures called masked minions who are wearing long trenchcoats and have curious Nazi style helmets and breathing apparatus. They maybe perfect. They also sell Naval figures suitbale as crew.

Eureka Miniatures have a range called Pax Limpopo which have lots of VSF figures. There is a landhsip crew in gas masks etc.

You could also try any Colonial figure manufacturer if you want figures that look vaguely historical. In which case either the Foundry or Old Glory. In the Old Glory Boxer rebellion range there is a bag of European sailors which would make reasonable crew figures.

I guess it depends whether you want your figures in historical dress or strongly VSF themed.I think naval looks best if you are going for the historical look. :)

Perry Miniatures do some nice Naval Brigade figures in their Sudan Range too:

They do a very nice Gardiner Gun and crew and Gatling Gun and crew.

I suppose it might depend on nationality too ?

British sailors etc are fine for a British landship, but for other nations choices might be a bit more scanty.

Also, is it going to be a temperate or tropical crew (long trousers & jackets or shorts and sun hats ?) ?

For naval gun crews Old Glory do a pack of a variety of nationalities in their Boxer Rebellion range. I use them for my Great War Gunboat games.

Thanks for all the replies guys

@fastolfrus nationality will be British for the first landship but will probably do more nations in the future also as for temperate or tropical it will depend on which figures catch my eye

With British I'd probably opt for naval crews, there are quite a few ranges you might try, Sudan or Zulu War ranges should give a few options for gun crews, and some might do for other crew types too. You might find some naval figures serving as gun crews in Crimean ranges too.
Some Napoleonic naval deckhands might fit in as general crewmembers.

With a naval crew it might also be worth considering Royal Marine gun crews.

For foreign powers, something Prussian looking (perhaps Ruritanian ?) would be good, or French, if you want a European opponent, otherwise I might opt for Japanese - I have quite a few Japanese for Boxer rebellion games - but my only landships are normally manned by civilian crews (still on trial from the builders, they are usually objectives for anarchist hijackers or foreign powers up to no good)

Apart from the usual suspects, you might also want to look at Wessex Games, they have some generic deck hands who could be useful for scruffy engineering types.

Another option for crews that I just remembered, there are quite a few ACW naval crews around, I have at least one set of crew figures from Grand Manner (the terrain people), they do (or did) a confederate crew, mostly gunners, but nice enough figures to add a bit of variety.

You could play a nice game of "Recognise the pieces" with that one :)

Technical Lego, beads, some nuts, pieces from a electrical device.....
