Title: 15 mm Samurai for SBH
Post by: Sangennaru on May 07, 2010, 02:26:53 PM
Hi everyone! approx a year ago i bought a lot of stuff from Old Glory 15s: mainly i bought a later medieval german army (almost 400 souls!), but i also tried some samurais and ashigarus. Now i've found how to use them! Sbh or some skirmish games looks perfect, so I casted some round 12mm bases, and started assemble them. All the minis have a NdFeB magnet, so i can carry them around with no trouble at all, just on a metal platform!

I have to confess, some of the old glory are really old and poor quality, but i was surprised by some new ranges, that are extremely detailed, even if cheaper than anyone else.... check the images, if you want to by from them....

here's the first samurai i painted, when watchin a film :)

and there are the others. you can see now the size of the magnet :)

in a 24 pack there are 9 different pose, extremely detailed and dynamics... A++ for samurai!

They are indeed very nice. Like the paint work too.

I have quite a few 15mm Samurai but would never have entertained OG.

Museum Miniatures have recently released some new ones which are also very nice. I picked up a lovely command set at Triples which has kneeling and standing daimyo, guards, standard bearer and even a seperate rack with armour hung on it.

I'm seriously looking for other companies, but i have a lot of work to do more... i also have the germans to paint, and around fourty fantasy minis for SBH, still in bases and unpainted :(

what do you think about the bases? i cast them some time ago, i think they can hide the lead base of the minis, when covered with sand...

I've got some Peter Pig 15s that I picked up at 'Colours' last year, yet to paint them  ::) but they are rather dynamic.

cheers

I would second the call for Peter Pig and Museum Miniatures.

PP have cast on back banners, which I found a lot easier than the old Dixon ones that needed back banners gluing. PP range includes a few packs designed as "markers" - people carrying severed heads etc, but also a good selection of different generals.

Museum Miniatures range include all sorts of "gubbins", including that armour on a rack, but also drumms, supplies and a chap with an umbrella.
