Title: Gothic Horror miniatures. Where to get them?
Post by: Malamute on October 16, 2010, 07:43:56 AM
Ok, a couple of you suggested a sticky for miniatures suitable for Gothic Horror games.

I'll start the list with the excellent West Wind Productions. A most comprehensive range.

I posted this on the 'sticky request' thread, so here it is again for your delectation and delight ;)

I'll add the old Gothic Horror range from Citadel Miniatures:

Come up on ebay from time to time, I got a few extras I'll be looking to get rid of soon, most of them not on that release and a few very rare ones who had an unknown release.

For gravestones, there's Mississinewa Miniatures. They make three terrific sets and sell them separately:

Scenery-wise there's also UK-based Fantascene's excellent Gothic line (http://www.fantascene.net/cart/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=5), from which a pretty impressive cemetery could be constructed.

NP Models (again UK-based) likewise produce some extremely well-done and evocative graveyard pieces (http://www.npmodels.co.uk/a1-gallery2.asp?roomID=823), some at very affordable price too.

That's all for the moment...

Some new additions.

First up, received a newsletter today from Foundry: http://wargamesfoundry.com/historical_ranges/single_packs/victoriana/victoriana/

Colour me impressed.

Secondly, I checked back at Gripping Beasts and they've added a few new models since I last checked, including a rather good country squire and a mortar-board-wearing schoolmaster.

I have a new range of Gothic Horror miniatures vampireslayersclub.co.uk. Fairly traditional for starters with specialist hunters from around the world. If my Indiegogo goes well then I shall develop the range with vampire circus and legend of the 7 slayers set in China.

Old Glory Miniatures stocks Blue Moon, at both UK (http://www.oldgloryuk.com/) and US (http://www.oldgloryminiatures.com/) stores; the US store is also has West Wind (http://www.westwindproductions.co.uk/index.php?route=product/category&path=70).

Some of the Steamforged Games (http://steamforged.com/guildball) Guild Ball range would suit.

Anima Tactics is now gone, but if you look through any old stock people may have, you may find something.

As for Terrain, Worldworks is currently inoperable, but some can be found at http://paizo.com/store/byCompany/w/worldworksGames/downloads .
There is a lot missing from the range, though, including the Wildwood Grove set which is one of the most relevant to this board; and the prices are way higher. Fat Dragon (http://www.fatdragongames.com/fdgfiles/?page_id=509) are still available, though.

Edit: Worldworks returns, though with many of the pre-Terrainlinx sets unavailable. Still, the range includes a Gothic-styled dungeon, undercrypt, pub and castle interiors, forsaken cathedral, graveyard, and old manor house.
Also, look up Dave Graffam Models on OneBookShelf or Ecardmodels, as they have many buildings for your European villages, though all hollow; and Grinning Skull Studios for decor.
