I am not sure if you can pick these guys up any more or not, but I think they make ok aliens.  They were limited edition Droynes from Mega Miniatures.

I think you could probably convert some GW skinks to add to the mix.

OK now these guys are sort of going from VSF to more like sci-fi, but if you changed their weapons you could get back to VSF type look.

I found these on a site where a guy looked like he converted Lisardmen with Tau.

IMO a pretty amazing conversion.
