I go by Onemanworkshop, but the name is James.
I am an old school gamer since 1980 when I picked up my first pack of Grenadier figures, and have never looked back. While I have been in and out of the hobby, I just can't seem to shake it, so, I admit I am an addict.
Being older now and of steadily lesser intelligence (not much to begin with) I sought a set of rules which were both light, and offered a wide variety of choice. I happened upon Ganesha games' Song of Blades and Heroes. I became an instant fan. While I have had these rules for some time, I have finally gotten around to buying more figures with the intent to play small fantasy skirmish games. I figure I can complete these small warbands without getting burned out, and luckily this has worked out well already.
I just finished my first warband for the game. Using the online warband building tools, I stated out a cool weird ethereal nightmare faction. I sought out figures to fill it out, not caring who made them or what they are made of, their all just fun little toys in my mind. I was going to start a blog to keep track of this stuff, but think I'll just post here in these forums for a bit as I build my collection. In time I'd like to copy Matakishi's excellent website with my own version covering the things I like.

I'll post more about this faction and other junk I paint up in the fantasy section.
Thanks,
James

Heya and welcome to LAF!
Just kick back, and enjoy the ride. Plenty of wargamers and lead addicted hobbyists around to share your thoughts with, in a layed back enviroment. The beuty of LAF is the mixture of people and interests I would say, ranging from the strangest of colonial experts to fantastic warhammer fanatics, and everything in between that might catch your interest, hence here I have stayed since I first got pointed over here! :)

Very lovely work 8)
Welcome to LAF... I'm a addict too ;)

Weird indeed, but great vivid colours and a very smooth technique.
Good job you picked up that brush again. Such talent should not lie idle :)

A warm welcome from Mexico, and I'm sure you're going to be a very valuable addition to our flux of quality pics and inspiration.
Nicely paintred figs! :-*
Now, show us your scenery! :D
Best wishes.

Lovely figures, nicely painted. Love all that purple. I look forward to seeing more.

Very nice paint jobs!

That is a really unique group there- the vibrant, weird colors and equally weird creatures are beautiful.

A very unique collection/force. I have the face horror (centre back row) and I left it as smoke coloured see-through resin. I think your colour scheme is much more effective.

Welcome to LAF. :)

Thanks for the great welcome guys.
I'll be sure to get my progress images organized and start posting. One thing I always try to do with my collection is to make it unique and different. I have lots of ideas for these warbands in the future.
Terrain will come eventually. I still have yet to pick up any supplies like foam, or the cool Foam Factory shaping tools. I'd like to do a few themed terrain pieces for each warband as well.
I'll posting to the fantasy section with any new projects I do.
Thanks again!
:)

Lovely, is that the heroclix displacer beast or the 1980s RP?
-
Wrong and wrong! :D
It's the Displacer Beast Lord from the D&D bendy plastic range. I didn't expect it to be so large, but it looks very cool.
I'll have to remember to post all the original miniatures names and manufacturers, I know I go nuts trying to find who makes a particular figure!

Yeah it looks good and the lead 1980s one goes for $35+ so it actually looks great!

Nice paint jobs! I really like the face horror. I think I need one of those... Not that I am addicted. Heck I could stop buying figures anytime I wanted too. :D
-
Those hypo cyclops frogs (best description I could come up with pair on the left with the hypnotic eye!), where are they from, more bendy plastic or something else?
-
Bendy plastic D&D, Nothic beasts.
I'll be sure to do a breakdown of all the figures and sources for future posts.

Here is the complete manifest from this group of figures. The figures are from a variety of sources.
- The 2 frog like creatures on the left are D&D miniatures Nothics.
- The open mouthed bloated things are Soul Grubs from the Dreamblade game.
- The two white faces smokey things are Dreamstuff entities, also from the Dreamblade game.
- The two running screeming guys are Screambent Lunatics, also from the Dreamblade game.
- The two winged demons are Shadow Demons from D&D miniatures.
- The large beast on the right is a Displacer beast lord from D&D miniatures.
- The large smoke thing in back is a Caller in Darkness, from D&D miniatures.
- The horned lady on the right is Ejhin de Vanth from Rackham miniatures.
- And finally the other floating female summoner is a Heroscape figure, Runa, with a cloak from the bits box.
