Cheers, it may be slow though :D

Great work; I love your muted colours and basing!
Are those click bases repurposed from a different game, or are you a construction genius?

Cheers,
Err... they are new style hero-clix bases that a fellow LAFer kindly gave me (the old style that i was given did not really work :-[ ) & i took them apart & made a new insert numbered 1 to 12 & glued a drinking Viking to - so genius.......Yes lol Ok maybe not lol
-
Well, genius or not, I think they're really effective and a good-looking way of keeping track of stuff on the table without having loads of counters lying about.
-
Excellent start on you warband.
Looks like a good mix of figures from different companies.
Great idea about using the Click bases.
-
Now that is a cracking idea. Good figure painting, too. ;D
-
Great stuff. Any chance of grabbing the insert from you? I try and steal all good ideas. ;)
-

I originally drew it in cad, (the numbers are Dalek font) & converted it to a jpg & pasted it in word for ease so I've attached the Word doc, & I just printed it on a sheet of labels :D
-
Thank you.
-
Here's some better pictures

Nice painting. I think the archers are very cohesive as a unit, due to your color choices. The fatigue markers are also very cool.
-
very nice paintjob! :)
lovely vikings
-
Great looking paint job :-*
-
the numbers are Dalek font
Such a thing exists :o lol
Cracking set of figures :-* :-*
cheers
James
-
wonderful paintjob and... cracking work on the bases!!!
-
Such a thing exists :o lol
Yes James, Daleks are more subversive than you realise :D
-
Next you'll be telling me that the Klingons have degrees in their own language lol
cheers
James
-
Just noticed your saga figures thanks to the "Painted in November" thread. These look great. The click idea for fatigue is far superior to few shields lying about. I just need to find some click bases and drunken Welsh for my forces...

Looking very good. As has been said the fatigue markers are fantastic.

That is a fine looking gang, like your painting style.
The shield colors are a bit too unified for my taste but it's just me.
The figs are Artizan?
-

No they are Crusader Figs

No they are Crusader Figs
Are you sure :?
Anyhow, they look great!

Are you sure :?
Anyhow, they look great!
Er........No...... :?
Yes like I said They are Artizan ::) I got confused as I bought some Crusader Normans at the same time ::)
:D
-
Great looking models, the bases really set off the paintjobs.
-
Btw, forgot to mention, that marker is a very nice idea. Who makes the casualty figure?
-

I'm not sure Alex, I had it given to me but I think its a Gripping Beast one.
-
lovely pics!
-
very nice paintjob! :o
White and red is very effective on shields. maybe Alex is right, a bit too unified for a viking warband IMO but I think they will be very cohesive on the battlefield.
Love the bases too, flowers are a great addiction!
-
Uark! I'm so tempted by all this Viking business.
Your business looks especially lovely!
-
Late to this thread I know but I just wanted to say how great I thought the work here was looking. I'm particualrly inspired by the archers on page one and the fatigue markers are just great!
-
I have to say, some lovely figures, very well painted. I like the clix fatigue markers and your use of display bases. Consider a few ideas stolen. :)
-
Lovely work Aircav,I knew it was worth the wait :)
-
I've finished some Foundry Bondi (except for a coat of Dullcote)
Thats a mighty 3 points done now!
I'll start on some Hirdmen next
-
Veeery nice pieces! I love everything: the painting, the shields, the bases, the flowers!= )
-
Thats a great looking set of minis. Having the same colours on the shields makes them look like a unit as well, rather than a load of models put together.
-
Top drawer Mr Aircav ;) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8).
Still don't fancy 'their' chances when 'that' chap pops down the chimney come Yuletide lol.
Darrell.
-
Top job Aircav! :-*
Nice mini, lovely paintjob and bases.
We'll need a group shot with your previous vikings soon!
Keep going!
-
Cheers Guys.

Great looking Bondi Aircav. I can see why the guy in the red hat gets all the cookies he wants. :D
-
Agreed with all the rest - fantastic work. A very nice warband coming along there. Can't wait to see all four parts put together in one shot.
-
Lovely Painted Vikings !!!! :-*
Most impresive ! Like the Heroic bases to, as all know that vikings are Heros :D
Best regards dalauppror

Yeah, very effective! Thanks for the groupshot. I've never been fond of vikings but those of yours are fantastic!
Great work mate.

Cheers Ray.
Blimey I thought you'd have finished those by now, is the Baby distracting you :D
Cheers for all the Kind Comments guys :D
-
A little. ;) Between work and the wee man my painting time has taken a bit of a knock. I'm trying to get them done in small batches, which Saga is perfect for. Most of them are based and undercoated. :D
-

:D that's the good thing about Saga, if you get the Levy out of the way first, it's smaller & smaller units :D
-
Those are brilliant. Inspirational. I really must pick up a copy of these rules and get an army or two put together.
-
Fantastic! They look brilliant!
-
Fine looking band you have there.
I like the fact that the shields tie the units together.
-
Love them Keith. Might have to give Saga a try myself. Sounds like an ingenious ruleset...
-
Cracking! Love the color schemes
-
Here's the finished Warlord, the figure is from Bronze Age Miniatures

I really love the custom markers!
-
Thanks guys :D
-
Very nice additions you have there Keith :-*
Personally I'm not keen on the Bronze Age figure but it's still a cracking paint job.
cheers

Finally finished my Beserkers, so I actually have 6 points :o :D
(http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Jh2vYjsRO9U/UNF98-kRzGI/AAAAAAAAAaI/eNTnVp08lg0/s1600/Beserks+004.jpg)

Brilliant!
And while on the topic:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRbhNQUZYh0
-
They sure are. and what an awesome skin tone. I really struggle with that so might leave out berserkers from my warband :( - any tips? ;)
-
Very nice indeed.
And while on the topic:
Your folk music is different to ours.
-
And while on the topic:
Wish I hadnt said to my ten year old son have a look at the saga warbands on here to get some ideas for yours :-(
-
Nicely done Keith. :D
-

Ah come on. If he can handle raping and pillaging Vikings he should do alright with a small clip from an old comedy...
They sure are. and what an awesome skin tone. I really struggle with that so might leave out berserkers from my warband :( - any tips? ;)
I think the trick is not to start too dark in the tone and don't go for too extreme highlighting. Old GW Catachans (jungle things) often looked horrible because people applied to sharp definitions to the skin tones.
Oh and by the by I need to sort myself some of those flowery things. Would go nice with my blood lusting Saxons.
-
I've fanally done a bit more for Saga, a Baggage Marker (only 2 more to go)

Fantastic colours on those boars. A great idea for baggage markers.

Whole thing looks great! Fun idea!

How did you paint those piggies?
-
How did you paint those piggies?
They are painted with Valejo Red Leather, Orange Brown & some of the Rust colours from the Panzer Aces range. I have dry/wet brushed them then washed them a couple of times in mixtures of the base colour & Dark fleshtone & a Palmer Burnt Umber.
Hope this helps
-
Lovely hogs Keith :)

Those rust colours from the Panzer Ace set are amazingly versatile 8) 8) 8) (and can be used to produce some stunning reds too!!!)
A word to the wise, if you don't have 'em- get them!!! :)
Darrell.
-
Awesome work!, I love the idea of using click bases for fatigue, I might just borrow that idea..nice paint jobs, I believe darker figures look better on the table. I too am working on my first Saga Viking force, and will be following your thread. nice work.
-
Cheers Fella's

Had my first game of Saga the other night, courtesy of Eric the Shed.
I can see why it's popular.

-
VERY nice!
-
Lovely figures.
-

Nicely painted Keith. Who makes the Sheildmaiden? It's nice to see a model that's female, but not dressed by Victoria's Secret Dark Ages Division.

Cheers, She's from Bad Squiddo games (the dice bag lady)
-
Very nice painting :-*
-
Bad Squiddo (Annie the Dice Bag Lady) specialises in realistic and believable female figures, she's got a great range on her website and sells a lot of other product besides.
-
Nice looking addition to your forces. Doesn't look like the hiatus hurt your painting at all. :)
-
Excellent. I shall have to have a close look at Bad Squiddo and see if I can be tempted ;D
-
Very nice!

He is one of the LTD Gripping Beast figures that they did for Salute a couple of years ago, I don't think that he is available anymore though.

Cheers Chaps
Richard, yes the Drabant stuff is fantastic, they just don’t do enough of em.
It’s not too bad really, I just seem to keep adding bits now and again when I was sure I’d finished em :?
