Jaffa

I don't know whether they've landed on a Viking world or a Greek inspired world... but SG-1 will be going up against the Jaffa in order to save these scientists from being abducted to the lair of the evil Goa'uld overlord Systemlord Hypothis.

EDIT: Overlord... not the right word!

MORE EDIT: If anyone happens to know of any 15 mm Viking or other Ancient business that fits with GZG size wise please do tell.

SG-1

I like these guys... reminds me of Cannon Fodder for my Amiga 500,.

The Asgaard... without which no episode of SG1 is complete.

! nice to see someone else who's interested of playing SG in 15mm. I myself am trying to figure out forces for SG-atlantis, but don't know what figures would be suitable as the Wraith .

Great work you have done and I will surely follow the progression of your project :)

Thanks man.

I think I'm going with xyston Persians for the local civilization. They seem to be oversized the right way to fit with GZG.

Did you find a gate in 15mm somewhere?

What happend since sunday where you stated you were only interested in 6mm or 28mm!?  ;)

But it does look good.

Have you thought of any rules?

Thanks doctors.  (this title is becoming ever so slightly diluted  lol)

What happend since sunday where you stated you were only interested in 6mm or 28mm!?  ;)

I thought you knew me by now.. haha. No in all seriousness I do not like spreading over many scales,. BUT, I'm also a bit of a Stargate hack and there simply isn't a proper 28mm alternative in my book. The few 28mm minis that are out are too small to fit with most of the other 28mm offerings I my opinion.
It looks stupid when the Jaffa aren't taller than Joe the Plump even when they wear their helmet.

Have you thought of any rules?

I was initially contemplating Phoenikuz' new Fireteam Dromedarian but it seems it's a squad based affair and thus not safe for skirmish. (NSFS!)

I want some command and control in there, so I'm thinking about applying a warmaster like C&C to my usual Ultra Danger rules or go with Future War Commander or TWAT. I think when you go 16mm you've raised your spectator position a bit further over the battlefield so you should have a bit less control.

A small table of encounter reactions or something should take care of that.

But this time I've got the whole basic story line for the scenario ready. I just need a golden pyramid. A handy version of this:

Scenario is basicly:

The Goa'uld have kidnapped some reaserchers/scientists on a Gateworld and the Jaffa are busy detaining them aided by the local populace (barring a few rebels). They are waiting for a pyramid ship  to arrive to make the pick up.

The SGC with General Hammond have to decided to intervene right at the moment when the pyramid lands because the huge energy signal by the gate will be obscured by the pyramid. Of course SG-1 led by Jack O'Neil is sent to deal with the snakes.

The scientist are detained at the village at one end of the board and the gate and the dhd is at the other end. The pyramid is somewhere in between. So the SG-1 have to go around the Jaffa guards and cause as little disturbance as possible before rescueing the scientists after which they have several options on getting out of there.

They can try to battle all the jaffas, steal the pyramid ship, get back to the gate or invent something even wilder.

 lol

Hi there,

I was planning to get this gate from Studiobergstrom (http://studiobergstrom.com/index.php?categoryID=3)

I think it would work well

would this (http://www.criticalmassgames.com/default.asp?itemnumber=KABD4&cat=terrain&rtntag=kaamadosbuildings) pyramid be of any use? You could tweak it with plasticard to suite your purpose.

That gate is ace!

But the pyramid scheme I can do myself I think... using cardboard. It'll be a hoot.  lol

Oh and I just thought of something. The name for the Systemlord ... Hypothis is meant as a pun (on hypothesis). But I don't know if it translates as well as I thought it would!?

Great looking stuff!  Really like how the white turned out... would you mind sharing your technique?

Thanks and sure: It's pretty basic. I paint them with light grey from vallejo (go for any grey that covers in one go) and then use diluted  humbrol white in successive layers.  :D

Say... if I wanted to add lights to my pyramid like the one in the picture? How would I go about it? I'm thinking a yellow light chain from IKEA might work. Perhaps the battery could be in the top of the pyramid leaving the floor available for gaming still...any suggestions?

I'm afraid I don't have any suggestions as to the lighting of the models, but those models are gorgeously painted!

Dear people. I have comitted more 15mm crimes:

These are the N'thabi; Goa'uld slaves taken from Earth trillions of years ago... oh well maybe not - but quite a long time compared to the average time it takes to thoroughly understand the complexity of the wing system on a standard Norweigan-American bee. And even that might be considered a long time to some.

They'll feature in the city on my vast Stargate board.

The same board will also feature a mountain, a range of pine trees and perhaps a lake. Or maybe just a pond. At least some water source in the village. Or maybe a water source inconveniently displaced a few yards from the village by the Goa'uld to add just a little extra spicy suffering to the lives of their slaves.

Yes! That's how it will be.  :D

A brief overview of the intended board.

There are several locations where encounters can be had and most of the terrain will be removable.

First there's the gate area, lower left corner.

Then there's the Amera Plastic Mouldings mountain with a ruined fort on a bit further up and right.

I'm thinking some wadii's would be nice, but don't really know how to make them without making boards that are of no use in a lot of situations.

The pyramid is situated on top of a building that the river runs through. The Goa'uld use this fact to poison the river so the slaves wont rebel.

The city will be compromised of several shacks/adobes and outside the city the Goa'uld camp made from Bedouin tents will be situated.

Initially I wanted to go for pine trees, but now I'm hoping to find something cheapish like the palm trees we did for pirates just now. Maybe fern trees. Any good providers?

EDIT: Hmmm the image is rather lacking in contrast it seems.. as compared to on the phone. I'll sort it.

And then, of course, there is also the work station on which my work in progress resides:

The swollen ranks

I think I've finally found a mini for Hypothis too:

From 15mm.co.uk a cultist overseer.

If anyone has another suggestion for a suitable miniature don't hold back! :)

Nice!  Where do those civilianb figures you are using for the N'thabi come from?

You are putting figures out quite fast. I like your painting style especially the way you paint skintones. Keep up the good work!

Thanks persons!

The N'thabi are African civilians from Blue Moon Manufacturing.

They do a brilliant line of 15mm Darkest Africa. Well worth the extra dollars over other offerings.

Little does he know that SG-1 are going to surprise in a few moments

Finished the first of 5 small building blocks for the N'tabhi village.

I was impossible to photograph proper, so I tried to edit out the background and failed... but hey - you get the idea.
