Just thought I'd introduce our new venture (mine and Nicks), Red Planet Miniatures.
It's basically the blog/selling point for the Martians we've had done but there will be more added to the range as time goes on, we've got quite a few plans up our collective sleeves :)
You can visit us at the blog below
http://redplanetminiatures.blogspot.co.uk/ (http://redplanetminiatures.blogspot.co.uk/)
Pop along, follow, post a comment; it's all good :D
cheers
James

Lovely stuff! Good luck chaps!
-
Here they are!
Interesting, original yet compatible with other miniatures translation of Martian sentient life.
But... no ladies?
Then, Raging Heroes 'Praying Mantis (http://www.ragingheroes.com/collections/complete-collection/products/preying-mantis)' also have hooves,
(http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0034/6452/products/figs-01-EN.jpg)
and maybe this Martian breed presents an extreme sexual dimorphism (as in Opar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opar_%28fictional_city%29#In_Burroughs), if I remember well)?
-
Best of luck with you new venture - excellent figures - look forward to giving you some of my hard earned money at Warfare.
-
Good luck boys!!
-
I like the mulipose aspect. Good sculpts, too. Hope your venture is a success.
-
Thank you very much chaps :)
I think we're going to have a lot of fun with this :D
cheers
James
-
Great! Now I can do Avatar! :D
Sure these will sell like hotcakes. Good luck with it :)
-
Great! Now I can do Avatar! :D
You can paint one blue if you wish but you will suffer no end of ridicule for doing so >:D
cheers
James
-
They are great.
Are you planning on doing any with firearms?
-
They are great.
Are you planning on doing any with firearms?
Yes, although not the sky dwelling Martians as it is not their way of fighting. The land Martians will have primitive firearms, there will be more information coming in the next few weeks about the back story of Mars.
-
Good luck guys - hope this venture goes well for you both. They are nice minis indeed and are rather versatile.
Really want to see one with red armor though. :)
-
A good start.
I especially like the helmet design and what appears to me to be a very easy way to put them together.
When does the kickstarter program begin? :o

lol
There will be NO kickstarter programme!
Although if anyone wants to send us money we will be eternally grateful, well until tea time at least :D
-
When will you be switching to resin? :D
-
When will you be switching to resin? :D
I thought it would be zombie resin versions you would be after :D
Good luck with the new range guys.
Any pictures of the skiff?
-
I'll add my best wishes for the success of this venture.
-
Thanks again chaps :)
No resin ;D and certainly no Kickstarter!
The skiff will appear in a post relatively soon.
cheers
James
-
I've heard there's a price hike coming too. And they're going in boxes with pretty pictures on front. ;)
Very nice models although far from my take on Martians.
EDIT: Doh! It goes with out saying - not without writing - that I wish you guys the best in this endeavour of course...
-
Good luck, gents! If I hadn't settled on Tusken Raiders, Bronze Age, and Dark Eldar as my Red Martians, I would definitely consider these...but then, maybe they can be from a Jovian moon...hmm.
-
When will you be switching to resin? :D
Shouldn't that be Finecast? ;)
-
Well, they look okay...
-
All the best with this expedition, Chaps!
:)
-
Now we have LAF lead barons united in a ploy for world domination lol
I am intrigued where you will go with this, will there be Earthlings I wonder? Or perhaps you are actually going to create celestial spheres en rouge?
-
Best of luck gentlemen. I'm looking forward to see what you do next. :)
-
Looking forward to the skiff.
Any hints about size or price?
Any animals planned?
-
good luck with this :)
-
A grand start, good luck with your venture chaps. Consider your blog followed.
-
All the best with this gentlemen. I look forward to all of your releases.
-
Gentlemen, many thanks once again :)
I am intrigued where you will go with this, will there be Earthlings I wonder? Or perhaps you are actually going to create celestial spheres en rouge?
Well, technically I've already got some of the 'Earthers' already done with my Boxer Japanese (other nations to follow) but there will also be a range of buildings and other things including Earther steamtech etc.
Any hints about size or price?
Any animals planned?
The size is rough at the moment because I'm still building it but it's looking to be about 350mm long, 170mm wide with the yard arms and about 200mm high with the masts. What I can tell you is that there will be two types of kit, a basic version and a master version. The master version will include vacformed sails, string for rigging and a whole host of other details.
There will be animals, pack and others it they are most certainly on the drawing board still but I think we'll post design pictures on the blog we go.
Once again, thank you kindly gents
Welcome to the Red Planet :)
cheers
James

Good to see this finally come to fruition chaps. I'm thinking you should corner the terrain market too and bring out buildings and waterways specifically for Mars (which no doubt will be useful for Venus etc..).
-
Unfortunately I don't do multi-part but good luck with the new venture, and I second the terrain suggestion.
-
Nice looking figures chaps! They may be multipart but at least they are not plastic!!!!! Good luck with the venture!
-
I suppose the molds don't allow spare torsos and arms; seems could be bashed to make wicked Tharks, me thinks.
I shall refer to the "skiff" only in quotes; sounds large for the term but I quibble. Whatever you call it, I'm most interested to have a look. Any teasers as to form?
Brilliant start from what I can see. Dreading the thought of cross-pond postage already.
Doug

A small blog post on the skiff wip :)
http://redplanetminiatures.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/skiff-wip.html (http://redplanetminiatures.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/skiff-wip.html)
Terrain has been talked of and is being designed (almost as I type :D ).

Dreading the thought of cross-pond postage already.
Find a cheap flight across, bring a suitcase full of disposable tee-shirts or American contaband (figures & kits from US companies, reenactment supplies, etc) and then re-fill the case with Martian goodness to take home.
No postage :~}

Sounds right, until you see what airlines are starting to charge on baggage fees. *sigh*
Doug
-
The minis look great. I wish you great prosperity in your new venture. :D
-
I'm very interested in the skiffs. I will be watching those closely.
-
Nice to see you two have finally tied the knot... ;) :D
Best of luck with this venture. If I ever manage to get back into my VSF armies I'll definitely be picking some of these up. :)
-
Thanks again chaps :)
Todays blog post is a small treatise on the history of Mars. Below is a little snippet but the full whack is on the blog.
The vast mountain ranges, previously inaccessible and unoccupied, began to attract explorers and who eventually created homes and communities in the lofty peaks. Martian culture began to split and fragment between the traditionalists who believed in the riches of the soil and trade to sustain their lives and the forward thinking 'Sky' Martians who believed in the properties of the gems to be a gift of the neglected Martian gods. Taking to the sky was the only way forward. Even though their culture split, there was no real enmity between the two, they still traded and dealt with each other amicably. This was until the storms came.

I've added a battle report to the blog. It's been seen before but seeing as we have started a narrative campaign on Mars it seemed a better place to have it.
http://redplanetminiatures.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/the-first-battle-report.html (http://redplanetminiatures.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/the-first-battle-report.html)
There will be short passages between the reports from the Martian point of view similar in style to the blogs opening text.
All will be revealed in the fullness of time :)
cheers
James
-
We have a brief report on the Sky Martian clans on the blog with a short extract here to whet your whistle :)
Invariably with such a fierce culture there will be conflict between the clans and this happens on a regular basis but not to the extent that there is total civil war. Some of the reasons for inter-clan warfare are usually small and petty, seemingly created as an excuse rather an an actual reason but other times it can develop into a blood feud that can last for several generations.

The second battle report has been added to the blog. It's been on here before but I've changed some of the text and altered the pictures to make it feel less like mates having a game :)

A bit more wordage tonight in the form of a story so far, there's an extract below and a link to the actual post :)
The Humans have made several beachheads on Mars itself with the largest; New Victoria being almost the size of a small city. The British and Japanese enlisted the help of the 'City Martians' in building the walls of New Victoria and these have now become a wonder of the Victorian age: not only for their size but also the speed in which they were built and their scope. A railway network has also been developed and expanded since the first year of colonisation and it now connects several of the larger human settlements and is continually growing, bringing civilisation to the remotest parts of the human colonies.

Finally got an update the Red Planet Miniatures blog :)
Different coloured armour, exert and the post link below.
The colour is applied in one of the many layers of laquer that are painted on towards the end of the whole process. The insect shell method is the more time consuming and therefore the most sought after but this is unfortunately becoming a disappearing art; the secret being lost over time.

More to come in the following week :D

Got a short post on one of the more common trees on Mars, the Ba'baak...
This flesh has a slight bitter taste to it but has nutritional benefits that can outweigh the flavour. The pulp can also be fermented and is brewed by the Sky Martians into an intoxicating liqueur. The bark itself can be stripped into long husks and made into a crude rope which Sky and City Martians use for the more heavy duty tasks.

Very nice, James!
Nice work.

I have an idea for a conversion for some of those fellas to use them for something VERY different.
Will have to wait until time allows, though.

It could be a photo 'edit'....... ::)

Thanks chaps, it was a joy to do :)

Ooo, what have you got planned ???
Three ideas actually.
Firstly as dollies for a couple of Cthulhu creatures. (Their size and leg joints are perfect for that).
Secondly, as part of a project involving a big, red fella ( ;)).
And finally, a straightforward conversion as an alternative Martian tribe.
When time allows.....

Well, they're coming along but I've had a bit of a mental block on them, didn't really know which way to go to finish them off but I ink that's out of the way now and I'm hoping to have the master finished for moulding next weekend :o :D

Or is it just trees this month?

I've just posted about the City Martians to whet appetites of what's to come :)
http://redplanetminiatures.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/the-city-martians-and-their-ways.html?m=0 (http://redplanetminiatures.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/the-city-martians-and-their-ways.html?m=0)
As mentioned before the vast majority of the City Martian settlements are next to the canals, enabling quick and reliable trade: although on some of the longer routes waystations have been built with limited defences to protect from the Sky Martian raids. Long caravans of travellers sometimes spend weeks or even months on the routes travelling from town to town, city to city gathering news and new items to sell along the way.

I have seen the skiff master, (honest I have) and its superb, james is about to cast it. It will be ready for Salute :)

The skiff is ready to go in the mould :o
A couple of pictures here until I complete the blog post.

The main mast and rear finial are separate and there will be two harpoons, two jibs and hopefully the trimsman supplied with the basic kit.
The full kit will be worked on after Salute and will include vacformed sails and various bits and pieces.

That is simply gorgeous, mate.

That's pleasantly curvaceous - did you shape it by hand?

Do we get to

This model is serious nerdgasm material.

It's shamazing, it's totes amaze balls, it's.....:D ;D :-*

:o 8) :-* You are going to send me broke Jim lol
-
Well played, sir, well played.
So, what is the price point, so I may start crying now, and will it have sails?
-
That is damn good. An excellent shape. I have no use for a skiff in any of my gaming, but I want one nevertheless!
(self-censorship in full swing. I really shouldn't hit the interwebs after an evening at my new favourite bar...)
-
James, that is really rather beautiful...
You big, artistic Northerner, you :)
-
That's all kinds of wonderful old fruit! :-* :-*

Probably for the bigger ones but we'll have to see :)
For price we're looking at around £35-40 for the basic unpainted kit (painted version not available but it will be primered) and no idea about the expansion kit as I haven't started to make it yet lol
cheers
James

Right then, got some paint on the master after I got it out of the mould :) Just a simple scheme for now, I'll play around with markings etc with the first couple of casts.

It'll fit about twenty of our Martian figures on 25mm bases on the deck and we'll be using it in our game on Tuesday :D
I'll do a blog post about the skiff and it's use by the Sky Martian clans during the week.

I have been waiting for that. You did not disappoint. Very Nice!

Nicely done!

That's one beautifully sleek craft, loving the finish on the prow :-*

the wood finish is marvelous
is it on the cast or did You scratch it in before painting?

Excellent! Looks like it was designed by Pininfarina :-*
-
Well done! :-*
A marvelous model!

James, that's really good! It seems to me that it might suit folk doing Atlantis type games too, the shape just seems right somehow.

lol told you James :D
-
Atlantis was not a martian colony ?? :o
-
Oh yes. It sank because the Martians and Venusians were fighting over it.
-
Very nice work
How much will you be selling them for?
-
Very nice indeed old chap :)

Really nice stuff! 8)
Are there any other vessels in the pipeline? (I know, you've only just done this one!)

James, she's a beauty! Lovely lines, I love the stern detailing, almost ancient egyptian.
Your Japanese will be up for a fight, with sky skiffs... could you add a roof? ;)
I hope your dice roll well for you this time. Good luck with her!
-
Many thanks for all the positive comments :)
The 'wood' is a texture on the surface and is supposed to represent a native Martian animal. Washes and drybrushing really bring it out on the model.
lol told you James :D
I never denied it ;D
Are there any other vessels in the pipeline? (I know, you've only just done this one!)
Yes, there are plans for a larger one and a couple of smaller, faster ones. We're developing a type of kite as well.
Price to be confirmed but it'll be in the region of £35-40 for the basic kit.

There are influences from ancient shipping but hopefully nothing too recognisable. The roof isn't a bad bad idea about the roofs but hopefully they won't get that close lol
My dice and luck with anything that flys has always been shit lol

Right then, got some paint on the master after I got it out of the mould :) Just a simple scheme for now, I'll play around with markings etc with the first couple of casts.

It'll fit about twenty of our Martian figures on 25mm bases on the deck and we'll be using it in our game on Tuesday :D
I'll do a blog post about the skiff and it's use by the Sky Martian clans during the week.

So what's yer lady saying now you converted her slippers into Martian vehicles? ;)
Looking good. In a sort of sci-fi rustique way.

Information is the resolution of doubt; don't think there was any doubt involved... :D
Glad for the 'plan' view of the ship; I keep seeing the 3/4 obliques, and having to remind myself it's 'not asymmetric'.
'Casual' roof seems apropos of quick addition for adaptation to warship. I'll have to go back and look what you have in mind for a sail to see if there's room.
Do agree with an Atlantean version; I've forgotten: is this flat-bottomed?
Doug
-
We now have sails :D
These were primarily an experiment but looking at the viability of it I think the kit will have printed and cut heavy duty paper sails rather then vacform ones. Probably just the top set also but we'll see how it goes.
I know there is a design flaw in the lower set of sails and the rigging but bollocks to it, it looks good ;D
The trimsman comes from the normal Sky Martian pack using the upright legs and two open hands plus an additional bit of brass tube for the rigging to go through.
Also apologies for the slightly crappy photos, it is two in the morning and I'm using my phone camera...

Nope, it will have a bottom hull but it will be seperate for the kit and there will be a flat part of the bottom hull so it can rest on flat surfaces (there is also a lug hole of 10mm for flight stands).

Very, very nice James. Love the curvaceousness of the sails alongside the curves of the hull.
Those big northern hands are full of talent ;) :D
-
Wow!
The sails really took it from shoe to woo hoo! !!!!!
Really nice work!
-
Lovely :-*
-
This looks brilliant - cant wait to see it in the flesh
-
That looks the business :D
-
You are right you didn't go to bed. ;) lol
Effing brilliant, like totally totes smazeballs. :D
-
I really like the sails and the trimsman - looks almost as if he is flying a kite - very cool. :)
Have you considered some small sails projecting from the hull at 45 degrees to the deck - something like this:

Yes, but not for the kit. I have a few casts so I'm going to have a bit of fun :D
Now to tidy up a bit and carry on with both Salute boards ::) lol
cheers
James
-
That takes an already superb bit of Martian engineering to the the next level!
:-* :-* :-*
Now you just need to decide just how many upgrade kits to make for the basic skiff?
;)
Just what level of 'boy racer' is your Martian?
:D
-
James,
For me the Trimsman is what really makes this very special :-* :-* He gives every indication that there is tension on the line and that he is guiding the vessel. Very nice.
LB
-
Love the trimsman, really bring the skiff to life :-* :-* :-*
How did you manage to get the curve on the sails?
-
Just wow :o
-
Very nice indeed!
That trimsan needs some bigger muscles though. And maybe a foot/hoof board to brace himself against. :D
I reckon he'll be earning his keep holding on to those sails, even in the thin Martian atmosphere...
-
Super work James!
-
That's just wonderful work
-
Cracking James! The Helmsman takes it to another level! :-* :-*
-
Wow, that's really coming together! Very much looking forward to seeing the finished article (on my gaming table).

Nice 8) :-* :-*

Fantastic.

When will these be available to buy?

Fantastic.

That is a really nice model - cracking stuff!
How did you do the sails? I want to replace the sail on my VBCW land yacht for something nice and billowy like that :)

maybe we can have a picture of the kit parts please?

Excellent. Thank You very much.
from what we can see already it could be an option to make a waterline bottom piece for alternative, with and without ram.
or a flying bottom alternative with some other details.
Excellent model concept!

I really like the pilot steering. Very nicely done! :-*

Dang, that is sweet.
No, I don't need it - all my games are on Venus...
Though the thought - "Could it be adapted for Venus?" - sprung into my mind...

Beautiful work! The fabric looks awesome. :-*

Smashing, just like from another planet! :D ;)

Thanks chaps :)
Bit of a wordy post now but interesting nonetheless, with a little extract below...
Some families are starting to arm their sleds; or even have entire sleds, with ballistas in an attempt to dissuade the Sky Martian attacks. This only seems to happen for the smaller clans and lone skiffs out for a quick steal but every little helps in the trade heavy City Martian culture.
http://redplanetminiatures.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/land-caravans.html?m=0 (http://redplanetminiatures.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/land-caravans.html?m=0)

Martian Askari!

Not all City Martians feel the same way; indeed, there are some who would like nothing better than to see the humans return to their home in the heavens but the pro-human movement is becoming larger with the more frequent attacks by the Sky Martians helping to push the waverers over.

If you must know, I've nearly gone blind and have to touch type because of all the nice views lol

I've posted a short treatise on the canals of Mars :)
The entire surface of Mars was once criss-crossed with canals of varying sizes and lengths but only about 40% still have water and are navigable. The reminder have either dried up, are in hostile territory or, where they have been cut through mountain passes, have been blocked by falling debris from the cuttings. With the Martian population drastically cut when the Great Storm hit there hasn't been the manpower to keep up a continuous repair.
http://redplanetminiatures.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/the-canals-of-mars.html (http://redplanetminiatures.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/the-canals-of-mars.html)
Lots of terrain to follow after BLAM and a campaign will be starting for the lead up to next years Salute :)

James

Very cool! It looks like you have lots of fun gaming ahead.
I'm really enjoying your Mars background pieces. Keep'em coming.
HAVE FUN

Very cool photo

The VSF-mojo returns...... Looking forward to more epic additions to the terrain.

Thanks for the replies chaps :)
I've got a stash of wordy posts to put up over the next few weeks. There's also an older battle report that didn't go on and when I get back it'll be terrain and games and vehicles and figures galore :D

Excellent stuff old chum. The summer break is looming and I need mojo to get my stuff ready for BLAM.
-
Of all the amazing work you produce, I love your VSF the most! :)
Thank you for providing so much inspiration!
-
Thanks for the positive comments gents :)
Next instalment up tomorrow ;)
cheers
James
-
Well, this is my tomorrow, maybe not yours lol
The Skiff merchants and their trade routes
The skiff convoys consist of two or three tug-neffs attached to several tenders that carry the cargo. As many as five tenders can be attached to the biggest tug-neffs but this is traded off for a slower speed. The tug-neff can be armed with several ballistas and usually the rear tender will have a ballista along with a crew that are ready to fight for their cargo.
http://redplanetminiatures.blogspot.jp/2016/06/skiff-merchants-and-their-trade-routes.html (http://redplanetminiatures.blogspot.jp/2016/06/skiff-merchants-and-their-trade-routes.html)

Sounds like we are all in for a treat for the eyes :D
-
Do you really assume there are more risks from 'sky pirates' than from dirt-grubbing robbers?
Doug
Edit: Albeit, I do assume the initial investment in the flying barges is so significant as to make any risk of loss heartbreaking.
-
I feel a game coming on ;D

I don't want excuses, just results. :D

I say chaps, it looks like Mr Bibbly has found his Martian mojo!
-
I feel a game coming on ;D
You can get cream for that.
-
I do assume the initial investment in the flying barges is so significant as to make any risk of loss heartbreaking.
Might the flying barges be worth more than their cargo?
Could make for an interesting development as pirates ditch the heavy cargo to try and escape from the dirt-grubbing robbers, the cargo forming both a distraction and a missile, or just to increase speed/altitude.
-
Got to build them first though :?
If you build them, they will come....
I realise we probably shouldn't say things like that around Malamute & Thunderchicken
-
Yay! General Bandai rides again! :D
-
You can get cream for that.
You ARE discussing a counter to a game those of us who are less fortunate simply live for the vicarious thrill.
Now cut that out! >:(
lol

Thanks for the comments chaps (even the weird ones lol ).

Cheers matey :)
-
Fantastic!
-
Wonderful AAR Jim!
-
Cheers again fellas :)
Bit of a wordy post next before the next AAR.
Plains Martians!
It is said that they are descended from a few City Martian families who went in search of the cities that were lost after the Great Storm. It was feared that they were lost but rumours started to surface of a tribe of lost Martians in the great deserts. These rumours were not unfounded as contact was made between a Plains Martian clan and a trade caravan lost after a brief storm. The caravan were approached by the Plains Martians it seems from curiosity as no trade occurred.

Getting towards my thoughts on Martian clans :)
-
Excellent stuff. It sounds like another modelling project in the making? Some sort of bantha type creature with a house-howdah on top?
I get the feeling that Mars has far from shed its mysteries. Cavern Martians?
-
Here is a pre-cursor post for the battle that was fought last week. Main report to follow this coming week.
The Trade Delegation...
The meeting ended before it had begun when several allied Sky Martian clans launched a highly disciplined attack with only a small Japanese force between them and the Princess...

Possibly, we're still deciding on the options :)

Now that's interesting ,a giraffe like steed .those can be picked up quite cheaply.
-
And now for your delectation we have the full battle report of the Trade Delegation :)
Seemingly from out of nowhere, Martians from the Raas Ak Naa clan sneak upon the flank and try to charge the Aak Naks. The Aak Naks take up defensive positions in an abandoned corral and give the Sky Martians some withering fire.

Yeah, at the moment they are just in the same unit as the hatamoto but we'll be looking at using them in a special scenario at some point soon :)
cheers
James
-
Excellent AAR. A fair representation of the facts. :)
-
What a corker of an AAR Sir.
Thank you for the troop information in "another place". I thought for a moment from the pics that we were looking at a new troop unit from your good selves at OSHIRO to add to your excellent imperial sailors. With the new pics I can see where they are from.Thank you for the eye candy and please carry on :)
-
Glad you like it chaps :)
cheers
James
-
Nice game and report (as usual). I hope to be getting back to Martian stuff in some form later in the yrar.
-
The Mars stuff really captures the imagination. Really enjoyed it.
-
Good :)
We aim to please :D
cheers
James

Another wordy post for the time being until I get some time to make something.
The family would have an area in the Vale solely for their use and it would be expanded as and when necessary. The main structure of the burial site would consist of an entrance mound generally built in front a rock outcrop with a short, open topped processional passage from that leading into a vault carved from the rock.

I see another excellent modelling opportunity and a number of potential scenarios. Another great addition to the Martian chronicles.
I'm sure it's only a matter of time before rumours of great riches in the tombs attracts entirely the wrong sort of chaps to these places.
-
Indubitably ;)
-
I'd missed the new blog - there goes the morning lol
-
You've been away for far too long ;)

Another Red Planet Adventure in the offing gents :)
Once again, your special Aether Correspondent, Archibald Harris-Hampton has been in the thick of things when a routine supply run to an outlying British encampment nearly ended in Disaster.

Photos look terrifc. :-*
A really exciting scenario which could have gone either way ;D
-
That amount of Martians up that close looks like a daunting prospect!
:o :o

Excellent photo, really captures the flavour of the scenario well.

I can't wait for the full AAR!

+1 to that man.

Thanks again gents :)
Hopefully tomorrow. All the photos are edited, I've just got to make sure they are posted in the right order :D

And we're done :D
The mounted camel corp on the desert floor charge some Martians who, in their previously unknown fear of camels, retreat but then through either a prompting by the gods or some other means they turn and return the charge and create havoc.

Never seen you camel corps before they look great.

Cheers Col, they took part in 2015's LPL but we've never had them out to play until now.

James
-
Great looking game and good report as usual. When I find my VSF mojo I'll be adding some more stuff to my forces, plus some nasty Martian fauna.

Another fine outing :D

Using camels on mars makes so much sense! Lovely work as always. :-*

Great looking game and aar, looking forward to seeing more

Many thanks for the comments chaps :)
Plenty more to come.

James

Just found this thread - :-* Great collection James!!

Time to resurrect the Red Planet Miniatures blog :D
I've got plenty of battle reports and bits of text history etc so there's a bit of playing catch up to do but for now here is a simple AAR that was fought a good while ago now.
A small Japanese outpost along one of the Great Martian Railways branch lines has fallen to a joint force of brutal Sky Martians and some, as of yet, unidentified forces who we believe to be the same forces that attacked the AJCME a few short weeks ago!

I don’t even remember that game :o lol

Time to resurrect the Red Planet Miniatures blog :D
Excellent. We could do with a laugh reading about the series of Japanese defeats on Mars lol lol lol
-
Shut it lol
-
Japanese intelligence service is not very good, if you blow up the photo of the mysterious suits, you can see a union jack on the shoulder :D
Great set up, how did the game on BLAM Sunday go never heard the result?
-

Shh!
lol
The Japanese were killed to a man, as per the narrative ;) ;)
-
Excellent. We could do with a laugh reading about the series of Japanese defeats on Mars lol lol lol
Given their French allies were “elsewhere” it’s hardly surprising the Japanese were annihilated... no doubt the French will find another excuse not to come to their aid next time. ;) lol

I don't remember any of these games. My first thought was it must have been one just between you and Dr De'Ath, and then I saw my figures on the table. lol

You were certainly there lol

Speaking of someone hitting the gin...
lol lol lol lol

It’s resurrection time again :D
I’ve been getting a lot of drafts ready for publishing for the adventures we’ve had over the last year and here is the first :)
Posts will be once a week around this time or in the evening (GMT). There will be a selection of games, history, stories and terrain/figure painting.

Here is the link to the full report on the Abandoned Supply Depot.
Diary of Archibald Harris-Hampton...
It would seem that this Great Martian Trading Company are going to great lengths to disrupt the status quo on Mars. What nefarious purposes do they have in mind and what will be the outcome of these seemingly random events.
Only time will tell...

‘History’ is in the hands of the reporters ;D

Here's the weekly Red Planet blog update; this time it's about the Japanese army on Mars.
The main advantage Japan has over the other nations is their large and expanding aeroneff fleet and the support to go with them. Various designs of neff are in the Japanese fleet including, but not limited to, armoured gunboats, torpedo cutters, destroyers and larger armoured corvettes. Many smaller support craft have also been constructed on Mars in recent months allowing Japanese expeditions to range further and further.

Bit late with this weeks Red Planet blog post but here we go. Market stalls :)
Once the frame was made the base was textured and painted as it would be easier to do this now rather than when the canvas was in place. A start was made on the merchandise table. This used some readily available 'goods' from various sources but the idea is to design something for the City Martians specifically and have them for sale.

It's the Red Planet weekly update :)
A small treatise on the history of New Victoria.
New Victoria is ever expanding, what with the influx of traders, soldiers, workers and even tourists. There is still space inside the walls for new construction but it is feared that the population will soon outgrow this, the Marvel of Mars and the Solar System
