They look rather good. More, slightly different poses would be nice but they'll certainly do 8)
cheers
James

Shame about the 'do or die' sword accross their backs, otherwise they could have done service in a few locations.
-
Should be easily convertible. You could even put a bed roll in its place ;D
cheers

Nice to see him back on 28mm. Wonder what brought that on? Let's hope it heralds a return to the groove for Mr C. :)

IIRC some of the Chinese DoD figures came with seperate swords... maybe that's the same here
-
ordered. Smashing. Will do for lots and lots of armies.
-
I wonder if there will be a command group?
Nice figures and a must for my Warlord army BTW.
-
When Copplestone releases something, there is always the question, if he will do more for this. The List of my open stuff of copplestone is as long as the nile....
-
Brilliant - hope that these are the first of some new editions - Tibetan regulars perhaps.

You're a funny man ::)

They certainly look like they are seperate but the straps etc are on the figure, I suppose you could have rifles slung on their backs instead.
I'll be honest it's not an area I know a huge amount about but it seems an odd thing to put on them. While it does a good job of saying "these are BoB figures" it alienates them from anything else. I'm sure some russian troops did pick up big heavy chinese swords, but I would expect the majority to have held on to their sabres as a point of pride, particularly if they've managed to keep their uniforms in good condition.... I find it hard to believe there were whole units/whetever that decided to take up that sword.
-
This is true...especially when you take into consideration that the Chinese swords in question were poor quality and badly counterweighted compared with say the Russian Shaska or other sabres.
-
Surely you chop off the sword and replace it with a rifle or carbine.
Is that a machine-pistol on their right hips?
-
looks like a Broom handled Mauser.
-
Where has Mark been designing recently?
-
A nice and unusual addition to the range, if Mark is back in BoB mode perhaps we may see some officers for the White cavalry.
-
I wouldn't hold my breath for white officers, though : Mark designs what he feels like doing and when he feels like doing it.
In case anyone's interested, the figures are obviously based on figure F2 in Osprey MAA 463 (Chinese Warlord Armies 1911-1930).

Arthur, really. I didn't have you down as a cynic :)

And a bodyguard unit for Chang Tsung-Chang the "Dog-meat General", who made extensive use of White Russian mercenaries apparantly, & which may explain the dao-dao fighting sword. I hope the model has sword/rifle etc options

And Gurkha command! And Gurkhas with kukris at ready!
(We ran into some Gurkha gentlemen promoting Remembrance Day Thursday before BLAM. I took it as a very good sign)

Have you tried 'Woodbine'?

I completely missed they are doing Gurkhas now. Great news!
I'd still like to see some from Copplestone.

That's because I'm on my best behaviour here ;)

...having worked out that I could cobble them together from other Copplestone pieces from different packs, and make some pieces myself/greenstuff, I asked if they’d do me a deal on the pieces. Instead he offered to make them.
So, if they sell well, he might be open to some more suggestions of cool BoB stuff, he says crossing all digits.
I have asked directly previously if he'd sculpt on commission and the answer was NO.
So, it really does come back to what funky stuff we can suggest that'll grab his attention and inspire him to sculpt stuff AFAIK.
I've done an order of these lancers, I suspect the da Bao is a separate item like the Dare to Die troops come with separate pieces. I certainly plan on converting a few to having mosin-nagant rifles slung on their backs. Or even have a third unit with BOTH.
Giles
PS: I really should come here more often.

I asked the question, and the swords are separate items. So ideal for conversion, and I certainly plan some with Mosin-Nagant rifles/ A N Other items instead to make different units. :)

Good to know! Will have to pencil some of these onto The List for eventual addition to my BoB/RCW forces. They could presumably even do double-duty as RCW Whites and BoB/Chinese Civil War mercenaries.

Mines arrived yesterday. Super castings.

I am so jealous. Ordered Saturday, hope to have them before Christmas
-
No longer jealous-mine were ordered 11/11 and arrived today. I forgot that Mr. Copplestone seems to employ some sort of time warp for shipping. As Ignatieff stated, nice sculpts-can't wait to get them painted.

First photos - very bad - the light levels are rubbish, but it gives you an idea I hope.

I'll try again tomorrow morning with better light, and the other 10 I have painted on darker Bay horses.
