I've been totally inspired by the London zombie board and the fallout collections you amazing people have, and wanted to try my hand at a cheap modelling hobby. Interstate '76 and fallout are dear to my heart. lol
I found these little 1:56 'box scale' minis in K-Mart for $1 each! I had to have 2 at that price. No guns yet... but maybe. I pushed out their 'windows', undercoated then painted them.

Really good! :o I like the rusty look of it :-*
-
Lovely rust!
-
Crispy rust! The rims have retained their shine quite nicely though ;) What's your rust recipe? Any chance for a scale shot with a 1:56 scale miniature next to them?
-
I paint the base car Colour first,
Then GW vermin fur splotched on
Mix a little orange in for the thicker rust
Touchup with base Colour,
Edge with light "primer"
And drybrush a light sandy dust Colour.
Thanks for compliments, I'll try to grab a 28mm fig.

Very nice.

8) very nice rust effect. Makes me want to dig out my fallout project.

Cheers for the run-down on your recipe Constable, will be nice to see a pic with a figure, thanks in advance for taking the time and effort for it.

Love them. :-*
Have to echo everyones comments, superb paint jobs.
As a mini enthusiast can I say that they are notoriously rusty cars. Here on 'mud island' those would pass for a year old lol
-
Agreed, great job on the rust and weathering. :)
-
GREAT minis! What's your technique?
I'd hit the rims with another wash of brown and brown/black
-
Those look sweet!
:-*
-
Great cars, the rust is superb. :-*
-
Nice. Needs numbers on the plates ;)
You still got the Window Plastic? Be good for those to go back.

Oh ok, you twisted my arm ;)
Here it is with a Heroic 28mm Bretonnian archer. I dont have any other scales/miniatures for you to compare it with. I thought the other cars in the range were too small (especially the land rover!) as they were scaled to the box, but the mini was upscaled quite nice for 28mm i think. Especially for $1! :D

Amazing effect, seriously.
-
Hehe, thanks for taking the effort and time then, even with me twisting your arm ;) :D
Looks to be perfect indeed, sizewise. Painting is truly top-notch.
So are you going to do a futuristic PA Mini-madness derby then if no other cars are in prodution line? :)

Thanks ;) a little twisting is sometimes required. lol
I just really loved fallout 3, and there are some amazing post apocalyptic builds on here. I wanted to give it a try, also why not, its certainly different to painting medieval peasantry! Tunics and shields can get a little repetative o_o
A game could be fun. Would you recommend a ruleset? I have half a mind to get some fallout raiders, and use the cars as scenery, but thats a future possibility. :D
