Title: A Mars a day...
Post by: Yankeepedlar01 on April 21, 2013, 11:23:05 AM
...helps you work, rest and play. Well, if the chocolate bar would n't float your boat, I'm sure the wonderful Mars game at Salute would. For me, the game of the show beyond any doubt. Judge for yourself if you did n't get to see it ~

Martian Railway ~ under construction still?

Took these with my camerphone, so a bit pot luck, but I think they give a sense of the spectacle. I really enjoyed looking over the game several times during the day.

I would have thought Yankee Bar  ::)

Seems like quite a spectacle.  :)

definitely the awesome category here.
Indeed, I miss the train...

Anyway, it appears to be time for some martian "sailors" or how are the ones who service the skiffs called?
If I watch these pictures for too long I might acquire a green skin tone...

Martian Railway ~ under construction still?

He DOES say it's no fun 'til pushed to the last minute.  ;)

Pot luck is seldom so delicious!

Thanks so much.

Does someone know who made the city walls ?

That would be Jimbibbly who made the board.

Lovely stuff!! I'm in 2 minds about all these Salute photos, on one hand I get to see what was on display which is a good thing as I couldn't make it yesterday, yet on the other hand I get to see what was on display which just makes me even more annoyed that I couldn't make it yesterday!!

A rare view of Martians withdrawing after being defeated in close combat

Those four-legged transparant flying bases look very nice.

I'm intrigued by the big green steamsuits in the bottom two pics.   Where are they from and any other pics?

Some nice photos of what was a very enjoyable game - we had lots of questions and interest from the public and Malamute did a grand job of containing himself as he explained for the umpteenth time that it was VSF, not steampunk! :)

Loverly backdrop too  ;) :)

Very nicely done.  :o

Is this your new period for 2014, Dave? ???

Not a thing I'm likely to ever get into, but I thought it was fantastic.

Lookng back, I wondered about the question:

...
Anyway, it appears to be time for some martian "sailors" or how are the ones who service the skiffs called?
......

Asking for separate identifiable sailors? I rather thought they were like Vikings; sailors, warriors, all the same...

Can't handle a skiff? Stay home and weave cloth!

Does someone know who made the city walls ?

That would be Jimbibbly who made the board.

Forty-seven pages of work-in-progress, and appropriate gushing thereafter...

sorry, not familiar with martian culture - are the sails of cloth? I thought grox bladder sheet?

the question of the sailors came up when I saw the whole crew boarding and leaving noone behind. I guess even the vikings had someone who stayed behind and took care of the boat, when it was not beached

Each of the skiffs had a figure on the back - the 'trimsman' - who was holding the control ropes of the sails and flying the skiff. Take a look at Bullshot's photos and you can see the trimsman.

I've got a soft spot for the Martians wearing the funny human hats...  lol

Great looking game though – always great to see stuff in person after watching it evolve here on the forum.  :)

I'd also love to know more about those. Anyone know more about them?

Do they have a UK Stockist? The postage is almost twice the cost of a suit?

No, they don't but if you Email the owner he is very helpful, he worked out a special postage rate for me to have one suit sent to the UK. It was alot less than the advertised rate.

Thought had crossed my mind, as well. Then, I realized that any skiff JimBibby would create would be as smart  as horses in the old west. Just drop the reins, and there it stays.  lol

And, yes, I know. Where are the reins?  ;)

I suggest you check the photos again. All skiffs that drop off crew have a Trimsman who will fly the vessel away until it's required for picking up the Clan.

We think if everything you know, you can't catch us out that easily :D

let's stop nitpicking  :)
my suggestion/question is more about some packs of martian "sailors" who would make the skiffs more colourful (and maybe more believable, but that's not the point)

I knew that; just trying to string out the joke. Malamute didn't seem interested in answering that.

On the other hand, I realize now the piccie I was thinking showed an unmanned skiff was just of a partial skiff. Dopey moi.
