Title: Games Workshop - Easterlings
Post by: Little Odo on September 28, 2013, 01:50:01 PM
A couple of years ago I painted up a stack of Rohan figures - 24 cavalry and 36 infantry (I still need to do some leader types for the army). Unfortunately that left me with no-one to fight them, so here are the beginnings of an Easterling army to take the fight to them.

Easterling Captain...

Eastering Banner Bearer...

I am currently finishing off an old box (20 minis) of the plastic footmen, along with a handful I grabbed from a second hand stall at a convention. Also on the table ready to go are half-a-dozen of the metal footmen, the original metal Kataphracts and Khamul (foot and mounted). I also have an unopened box of plastic Kataphracts and some eBob Mongols to use as Balchoth mercenaries (who said they all died in that last battle whose name escapes me?). Hopefully this is the start of something decent enough to pose my Rohirrim a problem.

I'm not a huge fan of the easterling design in the LotR movies. But you certainly painted those minis nicely. Don't slow down and Show us pics of the Titanic clash of the two armies...

Here is the main contingent of foot troops - 20 plastic Easterling infantry.

First up are the troops armed with falchions...

Next are those with halberds/pikes - I would have personally liked to have seen a lot more of these in the box as the film has phalanxes of them entering the Black Gates. This would also make them a much tougher nut to crack on the battlefield...

Finally, here is the archery contingent...

I am slowly getting through the cavalry and metal foot troops - hopefully I will have some of these to show in the next update.
