Title: Cold War Era Manufacturers (15mm).
Post by: AngusPodgorny1969 on January 09, 2014, 03:13:23 PM
15mm MODERN FIGURES & VEHICLES

QRF MODELS
Probably the largest and most comprehensive collection of 15mm modern miniatures. Scale Creep Miniatures is a US source for QRF miniatures.

PETER PIG
The modern figures are marketed under the name of their African wars rules, "Range 17: AK-47 Republic". Useful for playing modern "small wars" and insurgencies but plenty of regulars too. Focus is infantry but some vehicles are available, especially those found in African and Middle Eastern insurgencies and civil wars. Lots of colorful figures available such as news crews and some civilians. Also available in the US from Brookhurst Hobbies. The newest infantry tend towards the "large" end of the scale and are chunky. Some of the older sculpts tend to be smaller and truer 15s.

GROUND ZERO GAMES
GZG's product line includes 15mm sci-fi vehicles that work for modern/near future gaming. Mobility options include wheeled, tracked, and hovercraft as well as standard sci-fi fare such as walkers and grav vehicles. Weapons range from MGs and autocannons to ATGMs, tank guns, and even mobile arty. Even the infantry can work for modern/near future gaming as body armor becomes more common and more complete in the real world. The vast majority of this collection look very much like vehicles on today's battlefields or in development, especially GZG's wheeled APCs.

FLAMES OF WAR

Thanks Pedro!  I've updated the original post with the higher level links to your suggestions.   If you have any personal experience with service and figure quality from these companies please post and I'll add to the descriptions in the OP.  Thanks again!!!

Updated to include GZG. Theirs is technically a scfi-fi product line but the vehicles look like those currently on battlefields around the world or in development and due for combat the coming years. They work extremely well for modern/near-future gaming. We find them useful since, not being associated with a current, specific country, we can use them with any of our troops. We're especially fond of their wheeled AFVs. GZG service is also extremely professional and fast. Even shipments to he US are so quick we believe they've built a worm hole between the continents!

Always nice to read that I'm unprofessional and unreliable, and that my business might have a short life!

That does seem overly harsh - AngusPodgorny1969, best to keep all the listings objective.

For Eureka Miniatures can you please include modern Australians:

And add (under Eureka Miniatures):

Thanks for update lucky!  Have added Australians to Eureka.

Have also edited Khurasan to remove what may be considered subjective comments and replaced with information from owner and official website re: shipping time disclaimer. I don't think it unwarranted to include service quality as a topic when discussing our hobby. And in light of Khurasan's own comments/disclaimer on service I think it would harm the credibility of this forum to ignore those realities.  Readers shoild be able to trust the information found on Lead Adventure. But your point is well taken and I've edited accordingly. Thank you!!!

Agreed, but realise there's always more than one side to a story.

You also missed the bit to add under Eureka Miniatures two extra URLs:
http://www.fighting15sshop.co.uk/ (for UK/Europe)
http://eurekaminusa.com/ (for USA)

These sites offer more reasonable shipping for North America and UK/European customers.

Edits aside, this review still states that I don't always offer reliable service, which gives the impression that customers won't always get what they ordered -- an inaccurate statement.  There are some miniatures sellers out there that don't actually deliver what was ordered and I'm guessing that many people here know who those are.  That has never been and never will be the case with Khurasan -- you can rely on getting what you ordered.

Please hit refreash or empty your cache or soemthing because I removed ALL qualitative statements from all profiles.  There's nothing about service delays or pronlems in any profile.

And if you'd like to expand the description to include specific product ranges please post here.  I'll do that when I get back to my computer as it's tough via smart phone.  :-)

Thanks Mark!  I've added you to the listings.

I provided a direct link since there's only two items at this time (makes it easier for 15mm gamers to find them).  If and when you add more items please post here and I'll update the link.  Nice work!!!

Oddzial Osmy have moved from Fighting 15s and are now being sold by Magister Millitum.  In addition to the 'Little Green Men' already mentioned, they also do a superb little range of 15mm Cold War Polish infantry: https://www.magistermilitum.com/scale/15-mm.html?cat%5B0%5D=59580&cat%5B1%5D=62281

I've got a review of them on my blog: http://www.jemimafawr.co.uk/2018/09/27/cold-war-polish-infantry/

The following companies have a variety of stuff that can be ordered in 15mm if not listed in that scale:

https://www.butlersprintedmodels.co.uk/
https://www.syborg3dprinting.co.uk/
https://battlefield3d.com/  (the best quality of the bunch)
https://www.gardenshedprinting.co.uk/historical-vehicles
https://www.paintandglue.co.uk/
https://thetankfactory.uk/

Battlefield 3D and Gardenshedprinting are also on Ebay.
Note all of these are one-man bands and can be slow to respond to email queries!
