Started two new barrows today, one will be snow covered the other just grass etc, any hints on making deep snow would be appreciated ! These will be used for some fantasy skirmish games me and my friend have planned:)

Fantastic!

Cool stuff!

Nice work on these. Are the resin pieces from Fenris games?
-
Excellent! Never 'made' snow myself so I'll be interested to see which method you opt for.
-
Now that is a pretty mice start.
-
Looking perfect, Andy :D
-
Thanks guys :) the resin is indeed from fenris I cut the piece down so it would make a door, I figuring the writing on the stones would be some kind of magical protection from intruders etc

Nice barrows - the doors look fancy.
For snow, WeldBond white glue, Woodland Scenics snow flock, and water to thin. Make into a thickish mess like melting ice cream (the amount of water will determine the depth you can apply it!); apply liberally. While drying, dust with fresh white snow flock. Don't get fooled into the yellow snow flock!
Let dry around a full day.

They look WONDERFUL! Up until you mentioned snow, you finishing touches plan sounded TERRIFIC...I don't suppose you could skip the God-Awful snow & go for a Spring setting.

Give it chance; Andy will make it look brilliant with the snow!

I'm sure Andy's modeling abilities are SUPERB. It's that I absolutely despise snow...the real, trudge through miles of the miserable stuff style of snow. For that matter Winter in general falls into the utter hatred category. Of course, that may be just moi.

Niccccce...
-
Awesome start!
-
Looking forward to seeing them complete 8)

They are coming along SPLENDIDLY. Keep up the GREAT WORK!
-
Those are just brilliant! :-*
Grade-A scenariofodder if ever I saw...
That reminds me, I need to make me some of these too.

And with weathering, door just washed at the moment needs highlighting and metalwork

Stunning! :)

Lovely :-* Slate is wonderful for this kind of thing, though heavy it always looks 'in scale'.
-
Completed the barrows you may notice no snow, we'll I think the next one I do will have snow :) chaos warrior just to show size ;)

I like :D

Work of art!

The Barrows & the Cairn are LOVELY in their Springtime settings...I hope I didn't impinge on your creativity with my anti Winter comments...for the most part. You exceeded my high expectations for the pieces. VERY WELL DONE!
-
Wouldn't want to wander into those on a misty night!
Very nice work.
-
Great stuff :-* :-*
I prefer the one with the stones surrounding the door but they're both great 8)
cheers

Fantastic work! :-*
-
cool. Like those barrows very much. :)
-
I like these a lot! Where did you get the slate rocks from?
-
Lovely. Agree with James, the slate one is my favourite. :D
-
Really nice stuff. Look look great! :)
-
also, how did you weather the rocks, just green drybrush with tan drybrush afterward?
-
Very awesome! I really like the realistic rock tone you achieved. The burrows are not too steep either and look convincing. Excellent idea and execution!
-
Thanks for all the comments guys, the slate are just that old slate roof tiles broken up to the right size, I used charendon granite color from the older gw paint range as a base for the rocks, dry brushed with a little grey added, then greens etc.
-
I'll just echo all of the positive comments, great work!
-
These are just great. Terrific work. Would love to see about 20 of these and 30 cairns in a clearing of a deep wood on the table. What a skirmish that could be!
