Cap, where did you get those tribesmen?

All the figures are Perry sculpts from Foundry's NW Frontier range. 8)

Darn Captain...
You are a wizard with the brush.

How do these go with Copplestone from size?

They're a little bit shorter, but not as small as the current Perry ranges.
I mix them happily enough - and I'm one of those that does get hung up on size mismatches! ;)

Very cool. ;)

Wow, Captain. Your entry is one hell of a finish for this season.
My Mongols are no match for your superior force ;-)

Zoogla, you and the Prof are the two best painters here by a long way. Your Mongols are lovely.
It's something for me just to give a painter of your quality a run for your money! :)
I think (and I hope) it will be a close result!

Both lovely. I prefer the Zoogla style but the car seemed like an afterthought add on for the bonus points and the Captains just took my vote overall.
-
F--k me, Cptn! Your entry is exactly what I was aiming for but which you overshot by a a wide margin. I din't have time to finish my Sikhs and Bengal lancers. Cudos!
-
I like the more realistic painting style of the Mongols better than the heavy blacklining of the frontier force. But I'm disappointed that the armored car is presented as something of an afterthought.
As for Captain Blood's entry, I'm delighted to see something from outside the army that's contributed most of his entries so far. While I'm less a fan of this style of painting, the detail is great, and only an idiot could fail to appreciate the lancers' turbans. I'd love to see a picture of the mounted British officer. Additionally, the composition of the picture is great.

Mancha - thanks. (I think!) But you must have been looking at a different competition ;)
I might have the order slightly wrong, but my teams in season 2 have run...
Round 1 Aztecs / conquistadores
Round 2 Border Reivers
Round 3 Future Wars ‘suits’
Round 4 English Civil War cavalry
Round 5 Future Wars robots and mad scientist
Round 6 British redcoats, mid-C18th
Round 7 Pirate tavern brawl
Round 8 NW Frontier Pathans and Russian advisors
Round 9 Renaissance gunners and arquebusiers
Round 10 Indian Army, early 1900’s
Quite a variety, ne c'est pas? 8)

More variety than I remember, certainly. As a painter rather than a historian, I think I lumped together your Round 1 Conquistadores, your Round 2 Border Reivers, your Round 4 ECW cavalry, perhaps your Round 7 tavern brawl, and your Round 9 Renaissance gunners. They all look to me like they came from the same army, and/or were off the same game table. My bad though.
Regarding your "thanks (I think!)": My comments were intended as a mixture of praise and...well...not criticism exactly, but something other than praise. I hope that's okay around here. Feel free to praise and/or critique my entry.

If critcism wasn't okay, this wqouldn't be a forum for me. I guess nobody here posts his pics for showing of but for honest critics. Critics aren't negative if constructive. Btw, I can understand your confusion about CBs entries - Isomewhen in the league I felt the same. But I guess it's his outstanding style that fools the memory. You only remember cool painted minis with breastplate and lace and file them under one army.

Hardest match this time for me. Zoogla's imaculate painting style would have once again made it, but the Captain's overall composition and well rounded force got my vote in the end. And now I have a nice pattern to paint my own Bengal Lancers ... :o :-*

My dear Mancha, I think it's required! :D

'Skinner's Horse' circa 1910. More or less. ;)

I agree... both are great! I always enjoy every photo that you both post here at the LAF! Thank you both for inspiration!
Captain Blood who makes that nice Armored Car model? HLBSC?

Darkoath, it's by Sloppy Jalopy. Worked out okay in the end, but was not a great quality casting, and not that easy to put together. I had to do a fair bit of titivating!
(See the recent thread on 'trucks in warlord Chinese armies'... Slightly mixed reviews overall for SJ I'm afraid... :( )

I second both comments. I add: Superb !!!!
Both make me yellow from envy. I have all above models but never found time to do anything with them.
A question little off topic:
Does anyone know if there is any mini depicting such a mongol with the hawk (and maybe the princess) dismounted???? I would like a couple form .45 adventure parties I am planning.
-
ok another hard choice .
Z. my friend ,you have do it again !!!
I my eyes you are the best painter here but you have to learn to set your figures in the right view.
I mean in these case why the Mongols didenīt attack the car in a big picture with some few close pictures of the Mongols faces ?
or a big picture of only the Mongols with a blue background with lots of details.
I am sure with such a picture you win the game.
Hope to see you soon.

Wow! Two of my favourite painters!! How to choose?

Hey Dom! We feared you got lost somewhere! All of us missed you last weekend at the Profs manor. The league has ended, but I won't tell you who won, that's the Profs privilege!
