Ah, the Quar; what nice figures and what a beautiful troop.  :o :-*
Everytime I see those miniatures I'm still tempted to buy a load ... Must resist! :-[

Thanks for the positive feedback.  I'll tell ya what, these were a SERIOUS pain in the butt to paint.  I think they're right up there with Chaos Space Marines for fiddly detail.  And mine had double mold-lines, which is a serious casting transgression in my book.  That aside, they are great figures.  I need to get myself an officer for this little troop.

Double mold lines? Crap! Sorry. Most of my casts are pretty clean but now and then one slips through. Let me know who you are via PM and I will take care of you.

I am really enjoying when members are posting pictures of painted Quar figures.  I really think they have a unique look to them.  They actually crack me up when I see them... they sort of remind me of the old Mad magazine Spy vs. Spy cartoon for some reason... must be the long nose! lol

I too am sure I will eventually break down and get some to paint up! :)

Hi All,

After I dissed my Quar minis for their double mold lines, Josh from Zombiesmith offered to make it up to me (see above).  I ordered a few extra Quar to round out my unit and Josh threw in a few extra bits.  (Did you know, by the way, that Zombiesmith doesn't charge S&H?!)

It was actually somewhat embarassing to discover that the manufacturer of the minis I'd complained about was lurking and READ my complaint.  I don't think I would have complained to Josh's face.  (insert embarassed smiley here)  Of course it's pretty amazing when a complaint results in some attempt to rectify the situation.  Thanks Josh.

I'll post new pictures of my updated Quar unit after the painting competition is over.

Busted!  ;)

I think anyone with a problem should complain! It is your right as consumers! As a provider I will do my best to pacify the loud ones.  ::)

Enjoy!

PS - I don't charge shipping in the US, but I do have a flat rate for the rest of the world.

While the Quar are very entertaining models and Josh is clearly a great retailer......

My vote goes to the dungeon types. The smoothness of the skin tones is great.

The first time I saw these "dungeon types" (way back in Round 1?) I almost dismissed them out of hand.  The picture is way too dark to appreciate the paintjobs, and the collection of minis doesn't look like a team.  A closer look, however, reveals that they do have really nice skin, which is especfially evident on the black woman.  Had these been better photographed, I suspect they'd have been earning more of my votes throughout their tenure in the painting competition.

That said, the picture of my Quar has its problems too.  It was originally a larger picture, but I submitted it so last-minute that Alex had to accept a smaller version of it.  Even in the larger pic, however, the skin tones and gaitors are completely washed out, and much of the detail I complained about in my original post above is hidden by the angle of the shot.

My vote for the dungeon is for the kilt, a lovely bit of detail.......
