Title: Imperial French, Franco-Prussian War
Post by: UbiqueMatt on May 23, 2014, 03:15:00 PM
Big battalions and little fellas. This are the first recruits for my Imperial French army. Figures are 6mm from Baccus obviously from their Franco-Prussian War range. All I have to do now is paint up some opposition for them (might take a while tbh).

Beautiful.
A bit to small for my eyes to be able to handle.

Nice painting. All those moustaches are cute, but I imagine when painting them the thrill would quickly wear off.

I was thinking to using Black Powder as the ranges then would probably be more realistic (if that makes sense) and cavalry for events such as Von Bredow's Death Ride.

@von Lucky - yes very quickly. In the future I'll probably stick with just the front rank and even then every other figure.

Our group chose Bloody Big Battles, a set of grand tactical rules. The entire battle of Gravelotte-St. Privat fits on a 6 X 4 table. Basic units are either brigades or divisions. The rules include 7 or 8 battle scenarios and the group.io files contain a lot more.

An account of our campaign can be found here https://corlearshookfencibles.blogspot.com/2017/03/la-guerre-est-finie.html (https://corlearshookfencibles.blogspot.com/2017/03/la-guerre-est-finie.html)
