Title: Brummie's Apocalypse Thread.
Post by: Brummie Thug on May 25, 2014, 10:34:24 AM
Started by being a very lucky chap and getting some of the first batch of official figures for Across the Dead Earth.

First up from the Across the Dead Earth figs I received is Ezra "The Family's " Medic.

Besides the Official stuff I've painted up some Copplestone Scavengers to go with them or against them :D

Heh, and will that Ezra be making it into the official promotional art at some point? ^^

Good work on the ragamuffins. Their bright enough not to be caught up in the generic browns and greys that're commonly brought to mind with post-apocalyptic colour pallets (something I fall prey too naturally), which brings them out quiet nicely.

Thanks I always fall prey to the same trap so tried to come out of the closet a bit with these the first time they where a bit bright so I had to mute them down a bit before finishing them.

No Idea about Ezra yet would be nice though!

My own custom Gang 'The Jaguars' First two members finished Maximillian and Joe-Z there are four members wip

The gang hail from an area of The Rag Market now simply known as the Vale living in a old semi ruined office block known as the Fort. They get there name from an old car plant they found buried nearby everything that is retrieved from the depths seems to have a large leaping cat on or the words Jaguar stamped into the metal. The Jaguars are all highly skilled engineers all a bunch of like minded individuals who like nothing better than tinkering with mechanical devices.

There weapons and equipment they carry are often irregular in appearance as they have usually been dismantled numerous times and there inferior parts replaced with newer machined components made by the gang that supposedly "improve" there power or range.

The gang has a small workshop set up in the basement of the Fort where they spend a lot of there time tinkering with anything they can lay there hands on usually scavenged from an old buried car plant and an ancient shopping centre nearby. The Jaguars fiercely guard the old plant from other scavengers as they try and dig out and recover as many old tools and machinery as they can. They clean up what they find and sell them onto passing traders for other goods such as  food that they can't be bothered to grow themselves.

Well done I'm not so sure about the bags on every base though.

Doh! They are meant to be like rubble.  The colour on Jesters has changed as a comment of it being like a severed dinosaur penis........made me change it.

The intention is to have a tuft growing from inbetween the rubble but I haven't decided on the colour yet or purchased any.

Post by: kidterminal on August 14, 2014, 12:49:17 AM
Sorry Simon it doesn't have that feel for me. Two thoughts on rubble: one I have used sand mixed with Spackle with pieces of plastic spure and bits of foam pressed in to simulate concrete rubble, two place a plastic or mdf disc over the base cut the disc in half make it a jagged cut then glue the halves onto the base be sure to leave a "crack" a few millimeters wide paint it up like macadam and glue static grass growing out of the crack.
I hope this helps.

Rob

Agreed!  Very impressive!  I'd like to PM you some ideas I have for a scenario to run at Poldecon this Feb.  Since some LAF'er's may attend, I'd like to keep my scenario idea under a lid for now.

I also have that yellow Russian emergency vehicle.  My fiance told me what unit it was for, but I forget. In any event, a nice vehicle.

I did know. Back when I bought it but since have forgotten. Unfortunately when I got it out the box the wheels where broken at the back but its now part of a terrain piece i'm building.

Probably the best way is to PM via facebook ;)

Roza is the Sirens eagle eyed sharp shooter. A very cautious person by nature and always on her guard just expecting something to kick off at any moment. Due to this Roza is always looking for the best angles to attack or defend and to get a shot off with with her favourite suppressed G36 assault rifle. Roza carries an automatic pistol as a backup.

Dove is the squads scout adept at tracking down loot and moving across any terrain sure footedly. Dove's greatest loot find was a cache of weapons found in a still intact room under a collapsed Police station. Giving the gang several intact assault rifles and other useful items of equipment. The choicest items the Sirens kept for themselves the rest was passed on to the States armoury.

The Last two members

Lyra is the Sirens no nonsense, taciturn medic. Lyra works efficiently patching up flesh wounds or causing them with her many time stripped down assault rifle. Always concerned about never having enough spares Lyra carries it all in her webbing and has a backup pistol and a backup for that just you know in case......

Alyssa Grier or more commonly known as Road Block around the F-UK is the no messing leader of the Sirens. Carrying a rugged riot shield, smg pistol and machete. Road Block loves nothing more than getting up close and personal, blowing people apart with her smg or hacking them down with her chopper she lovingly calls States Justice. Leading the Sirens all over the F-UK dispensing the States 'Justice' to the lawless and whoever is found lacking.

Kidterminal. I think they look better than just the cardboard ruins I currently have and they cost me next to nothing to make. I may do a few bigger build but I think they work well. But at the end of the day its all down to peoples personal tastes. :)

Don't get me wrong Simon the construction is great its the classic GW two walls to form a corner layout that I am tiered of. I think 2 1/2 walls or 3 walls in ruins look more realistic that's all.

See my plan was though to have four corner ruins that If I wanted could be made into one big ruin.

There are far more images of each individual ruin below.

I suppose you could get some loose wiring and run it up to the rungs on the pole and have a dangling LED dressed up like an attic lantern. It'd look pretty good and wouldn't be too tough building a little "engine" on the base that fit a few little button batteries and a switch.

I could fit all that in the underside of the truck base if i'd do it again as its hollow. Run it up the side of the truck and across to the pole.

Was not sure what to work on this morning so picked out a random mini and this was the Fallout. Ha Ha

Going to make a gang based on the first two fallouts. This is my Vault dweller. Dogmeat and a BoS type individual is coming up next. A selection from a tribal, female ganger or ranger will bring the group upto five.

 :o :o :o :o Ha!

Played a game of Across the Dead Earth. This was the board setup. I am on scenery drive at the moment. Probably 50% need finishing off. But it filled the table quite well. I think a couple more larger buildings will do the trick.

Those are some fine looking figures.  Seeing these painted up so nicely really makes me lament skipping that KS.  That bonecrusher figure from vinnie is pretty impressive.  I haven't seen that many well thewed ladies in miniatureland so I may have to put her on the list.  I don't run a family show but I still think I would hook her up with some pants.

Geronimo from Akula's Apocalypse Isle range. Got some pirates to get cleaned and based up to. What a cracking mini to paint. I  do love Kev White sculpts. Looking forward to the Angry Annie when that gets released from Bad Squiddo games.

Some more additions to my Across the Dead Earth board. I have neglected to update this bit some new terrain arriving this week reminded me to update it :)

The Barriacades I finished back in October. Secret Weapon Bases Jersey Barriers (I won at as a prize at a Batman Tournament) The other barriers and bits are from the Mantic Urban Accessory set (I got given half of one as a review set by my mate Rich).

They were made by my made Gary Lynn.  This is his personal sort of blog group but he sells stuff on facebook all the time. There will a be a small video of it going up on my blog in a bit.

They are a really nice set. I intend on picking up a second set at some point for some conversions (mainly weapons).

Brummie I like the not MadMax 2 amazon with bow, it looks just like her. You have an enviable collection of not mad max figures there mate, tops stuff. 8) 8) 8)

You should take a pictures of the figures grouped together when finished, MM1, MM2, MM3, MM4 That would make a nice little story/completion to your thread.

Cheers
Matt

Fantastic. What is the mesh and did you need anything special to cut it?

It is just car body mesh from Halfords for a few quid.  Just cut it with normal scissors
