Title: Accessories for Japanese villages/towns?
Post by: rsanderson12 on June 08, 2014, 10:56:51 PM
Now that our group's Japanese terrain is well underway, I'm looking for items to make it looked lived in.  I have some of the rural items from Fukei and am going to purchase some from Oshiro.  Does anyone have any ideas for the little things like Tatami mats, rice bales, furniture, prayer flags, and paper lanterns?

Would love to find a sword/weapon rack and a suit of armor too.  Does anyone make those?  Haven't been able to find anything like that yet.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

Museum Miniatures have a few bits like weapon racks.
More choices in 15mm than 28mm, and not all have pictures

I dont know if it has specific japanese items but the ranges are so vast that you may find many suitable items.

4Ground has, at least, a cart if not more. Haven't really looked recently there

Their new Japanese handcarts look pretty good.

You could use Wargames Factory plastic samurai, drill out the neck and arms, snip off the legs. I'm planning a 28mm museum and the Asian wing will have some armor in it :)

Appreciate the responses.  Carlos, those lamps are fantastic.

I have quite a few wargames factory minis here, and I think the idea of using them to make an armor rack is excellent.  Going to give that a shot.

I really like the idea of a 28mm museum. Sounds really interesting.

I'm afraid to say that those lamps (even though they are very good) are Chinese  :)

Scroll through all four pages here - there's a bit of Asiatic stuff (though I suspect it is more Chinese than Japanese, too):

I have a friend who wants to purchase the chinese generals. How does the buy three get the forth free deal for the generals work? Does the customer  leave a note when they purchase? As it doenst seem to come off automatically.

Exactly. It leaves me a message telling me that he wants to receive for free.

Have a look at lostvillageterrain.co.uk
It's a friend of mine who designs his own stuff. He is literally a one man band and is only just getting his shop up and running.
As well as oriental stuff, there is a great looking western range and a nice fortified sci-fi wall set which can be done for 15 or 30mm scale.

He is slow in getting pics rather than renders onto his shop, but his terrain was used at GenCon for the Bushido tournament and was very well received. There are pics in the Bushido forum.

Just noticed Wargames Terrain Workshop thanks to a bit elsewhere, but their Dojo looks rather good.

That does look good.  Love the Koi, am hoping to do a garden pond for our terrain set, those would be great.
