Season Two - The Results

Well, that´s it for Season Two of the Lead Painters´ League :) Again a bloody race of hunderts of teams, again some "heart-attack"-rounds for some runners, again top notch quality of entries and last but not least just a lot of fun. Thanks to all who participated, it was a great time again!

Now the long-awaited Awards Ceremony :) and it was worth to wait, a true surprise, we have......................two winners!!!

The unbeatable Grimm and unrivaled Captain Blood. Grimm has managed to paint a train, received 25 bonus points and was able to catch up with Captain Blood. 445 Points for both. Actually now Grimm has 40 more vote points but you know, the amount of the vote points is too often a matter of luck, the position of the poll in the board and is really up to the voting mood of the visitors. So I've decided, this time we have two winners of the league. I'm sure it's the right decision :)

First runner-up is...zensational Zoogla!!

Third place goes to the...fantastic SvennnDHNut!!

Now some stats:

- most bonus points - Zoogla with 150 points

- most single votes -  Grimm with 993 Votes

- not faced a defeat - Grimm...

Ok....now I'm sorry again for all the postponed and maybe too-long-runned rounds :) Some things in my work life have changed and I have to tell you, this year no more League. Definitely not. And at the moment I have no idea when, maybe in Spring 2009. Maybe. But no worries, one day the League will return for sure :)

And now again congrats to all the winners and participants. Thank you!

The second season is officially... CLOSED.

Yours
the Prof.

Do they get the same icons as the last batch of winners or do we get to see new ones for that as well?

Congratulations to everyone who took part. I wish I had the time to paint so I could join in the fun.

What a spectacular and nail biting ending to the league!  A tie... between two great painters.  Awesome.

Congratulations to all... everyone is a winner in my book for competing!

Well I am deeply honoured to have drawn with Grimm for first place! I think I was one of his draws early in the competition (seems a long time ago now!) so I'm not that surprised it's a dead heat at the end.

I don’t really deserve it to win, because there are several regular contributors here who are undoubtedly better painters than me. Still - luck of the draw I suppose…  ;)

I am astonished that I beat Zoogla's entry in the last round - he's just the most brilliant painter.
I do think getting close-ups of your figures into your entry really is the key. I'm sure there have been lots of excellently painted entries which have been shot from just too far away.

Anyway, thanks Alex for running this fun, inspiring and challenging competition. You've given a lot of people a lot of pleasure (not to mention some very late nights!  lol)

Congratulations! To both of you!
With the medals - I'd say give them a medal split in two parts. Grimm the left and Cap the right half (or the other way round)

I would think that with the current trend toward Back of Beyond, some Russian medals would be good. I have no idea what they are so I leave that to the more scholarly among the forum.

Bah, Back of Beyond my arse. It's a fad. You'll all be fretting over something else this time next year.  :)

How about something with a little class, the Pour le Mérite for example? We could call our own version the Blauer Grimm.

Looking at it, you'd think they'd've picked a design you could actually fit the name on, though. Looks like a little kid did it.

Officers only, I'm afraid.

Not today. It's a civilian order today.

Yes, but if it's hijacked by the LAF, we can make up any rules we like.  :)

Funnily enough, just after I hit 'submit' for that last post, I received this...

http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=6827.msg76937;topicseen#new (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=6827.msg76937;topicseen#new)

Now I had been expecting it for a while, but for it to arrive just at this point was a bit freaky.

Hazel, I'm only 69 points behind you, that's nearly the same difference you have on Grimm. Shouldn't that make you think?  lol

Worse still - I'm somehow ahead of Poliorketes and got bazillions of votes against!

First Place !!!!  lol ;D :-*

I want to thank you all Competitors  ,voters and most of all the Prof !!
I have a lot of fun with the Competition it was a Blast !

only to remember a few things
Admiral_Benbow_Kings_of_the_Jungle  (and  the amazing Lascannon )
Uncle_Mike_The_Devils_Rejects  (nice T shirt )
hammershield_Hunksa_Burnin_Luv ( and the Sailors and the small tin)
Svennn_the_DH_Nut_Wheres_that_Bear ( I wait for them in the next Competition!)
The ``cow entry`` round and the bet entry name ever ``Doctor Untermensch and his Mud Dinosaurs``

I realy happy now ,but I must make sure that you all notice a few things .

It is the first time that I win a Competition and I am very of proud it because I have all the hard Competitors.
I know there where  a lot Competitors  who are better painters then I am but I what to let them know that in these Competitionare not only the painting skills counts.
It is also the mood  of the entry ,the picture, figures and the terrain of the Picture .
Allso the Opponents are importend and effectivety output the mix of all together .

These are the reasons why I like the Competition  so much because guys like me have a Chance to win aganst pro painters .
We have not these `´eye candy cool mini or not stuff `´ or these `´ I paint 45 h on a figure style ´´
It is a Competition from Wargamers for Wargamers not from pro-painters for pro-painters .

Thank you all again

My congrats to all on the wonderful entries.

All entries were exceptional and all deserve to win.

Thankyou Alex for facilitating these comps for all to participate in and hopefully in the future you may have time once again to devote your energies into this area.

First Place !!!!  lol ;D :-*

I.... bet entry name ever ``Doctor Untermensch and his Mud Dinosaurs``....

Thank you all again

I was so close to earning last place!!!  Sweet victory should have been mine!  At least Grimm gave me the nod for best entry name :-*

I've almost completed some entries for the next League so I won't be caught with my pants down...in a painting sense.  I'm one model away from a Fantastic Worlds quintet, of which three have been seen..Buck Solo and crew.  And another Rattrap grouping for .45 Adventure.  Beware my colleagues, for my brush will be wielded with slightly less mediocrity next go around.

Great job and thank all that is holy for this forum! :'(

Congratulations to the winners.  For my part, I had a great time participating in the competition; In part because I painted more minis in a unit of time than I ever have before.

Thanks to Alex for doing the competition.  I can completely appreciate your sudden realization that life (ie: work) has caught up to you.  However, I hope a feeling of nostalgia and an unexpected slacking off of work responsibilities allows you to run a new competition earlier than you fear.

Until then, I'm sure we'll all have fun with things like the Company B armmored car event (for which I just picked up some rivets).

Good job, everyone.  Thank you, Alex.

Congratulations to all the winners and participants of this marvelous League!

A big thanks to all the voters - without you there would have been no League!

And the biggest "Thank You" goes to Alex for inviting all of us to take part in the League and for inventing this great forum!!

Well done Grimm and Captain Blood! :D  Also thank you to everyone who entered... it was very fun to look and your wonderful miniatures!  Also Alex I don't think anyone minded that the season was prolonged... heck if it makes it easier for you make the season longer all the time... it definately must provide extra time for people to paint! lol  Thank you for all your work to provide us with a painting league in the first place! :)

I'm perfectly happy with the way the league is being run. Its just a bit fun and an excuse for me to get through a large part of my grey army, LOL. I'm currently being slaughtered in round 1, but then I rushed the Germans last minute, as I was doing rounds 2-4. So I'm ok with the fact that I'm being slaughtered, should have sent more time on these, lol, rather than trying to get ahead, so that I could spend more time on later rounds.

I also have to admit that my competitor's models are VERY NICE and scratch built, very impressive.

Its good to see that wide range of differing models, with some outstanding paint work. Can't wait to see next week's now.
