Title: The AGGRO Thread
Post by: monkeylite on October 14, 2014, 08:28:34 AM
Anyone playing AGGRO?

Let's have an AGGRO thread.

Here's half a firm:

http://tewblogger.blogspot.co.uk/2014/07/aggro-hit-squad.html

And here's a bit of stadium:

What's everyone else doing with it?

I recognise that strip. My grandmother having lived a stone's throw from the old Eastville ground (until the house got bulldozed to make way for the M32) helps.
I've got the figures but not for AGGRO. Mine are going to be a bunch of hooligans to get in the way during my 7TV games.

That's great!  :-* love the pitch. I'm building something similar I've got a thread in the workbench section, sorry don't know how to do a link. Not got rules yet getting them soon. Attached a photo of my turnstiles rest are in my other thread.

Funnily enough, my gran used to live a stone's throw from Eastville Stadium, in a now-demolished house, too!

I'm also thinking of using the minis for some 7TV. Probably a hooligans vs police thing.

Brilliant. Here's your thread, for the record:

http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=71416.0

I just went with a few modular wall-lengths, but I love your proper, surrounding wall. Also love the way you went for a proper industrial structure for your stand roof. Wish I'd noticed your thread while I was building mine.

Here's my turnstiles. I went for the crappy breeze block look, instead:

Love the breeze block look that looks like a proper nasty ground to go to, that's a compliment!

How did you make your pitch, that's next up for me I was gonna just go with a grass mat but I like the muddy 70s style pitch.

What are the rules like?

The pitch is just a mat which I gouged up semi randomly, and then painted acrylic resin with brown pigment into the gouges. Then I painted some PVA on randomly, and covered with a flock mix. The lines were drawn with a 2mm Posterman wet-wipe pen.

It looked a real mess, and I thought I'd over done it, but I think it ended up looking ok in situ.

Not played it yet, but it's a squad based game, where you typically have 4 or 5 gangs of 5 to 11 models roaming the streets. Most of your troops are Lads, but you can get Geezers which are worth two lads for certain actions, like fighting. And a Guv'nor who is worth 4.

Each squad can either sing, throw missiles or fight. Throwing and fighting are similar to a lot of wargames. Singing is about either taunting the enemy towards you or intimidating them to back away, or you can just have a sing-off to see who is the loudest.

Each action can earn you street cred if you do it well, and generally street cred is what wins you a scenario.

There's a campaign system where you can get more lads into your firm if you have enough street cred, or you can promote lads to Geezers, etc. There are a number of power-ups that you can buy for your firm generally, or for Geezers or your Guv'nor.

It's all driven by drawing playing cards, where basically picture cards are successes.

Thanks for the tips. I've seen some photos of a demo game looked awesome I'd sort of half built the stand but seeing that and the rules coming out give me a kick up the backside to get stuck in again.

I'm getting a subbuteo floodlight for the corner and been working on some terraced houses and shops.

You will need to get a yellow stream flowing down the terrace  lol

Ive got a load of the figures unpianted but doubt id ever get anyone here to game it. Hope they bring out some Casuals though :D

What did you use for your breeze blocks and corrugated roof?
Title: Re: The AGGRO Thread
Post by: monkeylite on October 15, 2014, 07:41:55 PM
I believe the breeze blocks are Slaters Plasticard 7mm Paving Grey. Istm if you want closer to a real breeze block size then 4mm would be better. (Probably would go with that if I had the choice again.)

The roofing on the stadium is Wills OO Corrugated Asbestos.

I've got the rules, which I'm still going through as usually I go for much simpler rules. They look good. I'm working out which figures to get for firms, I'm just painting one set of Offensive Mini's protestors as I think they'll be a fair amount of cross over between this and riot games.

I do like the card idea, I'm a big fan of cards in games.

I was disappointed to see the the old bill play only an incidental part in it... thinking about how I might bolt-on rules for them so I can use just this rule set for both hooli games and riots, and even hooli/riots which devolve into a zombie game...  ::)

I painted a few Melchester players a while ago I put them in a three but dont know how to link it so here's the pics from the thread.

Also maybe a bit of topic I painted all the Melchester kits in order on subbuteo players sold them on eBay which I still regret  :'(

Thanks,

Apart from the Aggro minis, there are a few from KillerB, Geezers

http://killerbgames.com/index.php?cPath=1

A few random Foundry ones, a few Offensive Miniatures, Street Riot ones,

http://www.offensiveminiatures.com/catalogue.asp?RID=7&CID=3

And a few from Akula, the unarmed civilians mentioned in that photographer thread:

http://apocisland.blogspot.co.uk/

And maybe a few from elsewhere.

Love those Melchester footballers, my guys are dying to support them.

I didn't have any Melchester ones, but I practically gave all my Subbuteo stuff away a couple of years ago. Had no idea there was a big collectors' market.

Robben in the pre-dive pose?  ;)

They look good. It's hard to get an interesting pose for a footballer unless they have the ball. Most seem to wander about a bit.. Poses where someone is looking skyward to receive a lob would probably look a bit odd on there own.

Maybe a player with arms outstretched, palms out motioning the 'pass to me, I'm open' pose could work. Would also do service as the 'what do you mean ref? I never touched him!'

My wife suggested you could base a couple of defenders on my mate Dan and myself. So just standing about at the back, having a chat...

If the footballers are to be in period with the hooligans, don't forget to make the shorts almost indecently short, compared with the modern version.  1978 World Cup final shown below.

I already had a set of football rules called Corner Kick and downloaded another set from two hour wargames called "The Beautiful Game" for $5 and I think these have everything I was trying to do so no need to try and write another set.

Haven't had chance to have a game yet but look good.

Back to Aggro I've just ordered a pub from warbases think that's how I'm going to finish my table so I'll probably sell the semi house that I've been working on don't think I've got the time to make enough for a table full. Going to try and make use of the shop fronts I've already done use them with any mdf buildings I get.

Hi,
in Germany we try to make Aggro a little bit popular, but its not so easy. Very special theme...

Here some members of my firm (WIP)
For the bases, i took the 25mm from renedra. Nice, flat and fine to fill up for the small own bases from the ainstys miniatures.

has somebody an idea where to get bobbys in different poses?

scene for that could be a riot with hools against bobbys. the idea is not complete yet.
first idea is that the bobbys cost 1P normal or 2P with a dog (normal - base contact and take a card to look for bite rules).
they start to stop or kettling the hooligans and their target is to brake through (maybe to a pub or whatever)...

what you think about that element/scenario idea?

And as mentioned Crooked Dice do some with separate heads:

They've even got a sale on for their various police heads:

Both manufacturers go well together, imo:

I have never seen anything like it. TBH living in a street like that would get to me.

Indeed, it would certainly need more than "Beecham's" to make life worth living and that's for sure. Still at least the kids in the photo only had toy guns back then.

Joking apart one set of my grandparents lived in a street like that... really doesn't seem that long ago.  :)

I live in a house a bit like that (a Victorian terrace) but not as severe and it has a back yard. Coz of the urban regeneration going on in some British cities, if they're in the right place, they can get quite desirable, these days.

I think what it is, is the fact there is no nature to be seen. Who ever built that viewed its residents as no more than organic work machines.

Indeed they did, most were built by the factory owners around their factories and if you lost your job, you lost your home as well.

Many later passed to private landlords, so meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

the side where i found the pictures, says that slums like that where hard reality till the end of 70´s.
people lives often without warm water or electricity.

They were mostly modernised or demolished about that time, but you can still find them around in the North of England in particular.

Nice work!  :)

Tracing paper should probably work I think, or failing that grease-proof perhaps.  :?

Your rear walls should be just high enough to stop the local tykes from climbing over them... it was a pocket money earner to climb over and steal empty glass bottles, and then go to the pub's 'outdoor' to claim the cash deposit back for returning them.

They look good.

I'm going to put my turnstile and exit gate section up on eBay or sale as I'm going to rebuild them to match my warbases/Charlie foxtrot buildings also my almost finished terraced house (for the same reason) plus the half finished larger football stand (not the one with the figures in the unpainted one) if anyone's interested get in touch before I put them on eBay.

Actual yes. A 3rd standard firm will follow and later the bobbys.
So it gives more different conflict situations (against police or subculture) Next week we will start to make rules for the bobbys.

I grew up in terraced houses just like that with an outside toilet.

The frosted glass should only go up just over half way in the window with the rest clear - family of publicans - The Adam and Eve, Canal Street, Coventry. When canals were full of dead dogs , chemical waste from the Courtaulds Factory and supermarket trolleys and where I learnt to swim.

Beat that!

Great thread and brought back great memories of following the Sky, Sky, Sky Blue Army in the 1970s.il

Look forward to seeing some AAR.

today was shopping day.
two hard foam plates 70x100cm, rough filter sponge for hedges, a grasmatt for the small park and a package of stone walls by 4ground.
Nice stuff and i think a good start for the aggro board. Hope to order the buildings so fast as possible.
Will be by 4ground too. pre colored is ok at first and can be finished later.

it goes forward with my aggro-city.

i made templates with the outlines for the buildings they i will order from warbases and so i can try some board designs.

get the corner walls from 4ground and start today a tryout for a church area.
looks ok and will be an option for mobile scenery.

an other idea is a workshop on 40x40cm.
two sides with stonewalls and the front with wire netting fence. the skips will be fine there.

4 hedges from sponge are ready, need only green paint (pics tomorrow)...

small step forward.

wrecking yard (or how call the place where people give up old metal parts?) starts.
the back wall is ok, the wooden fences need the right length. back/right corner i will i will put a pill of rusty metal scrap.
and i need one or two more skips (looks better on the place).
any ideas for some details?

the ground need a finishes paint job and i think than it looks ok for the aggro-city board.

Not sure what you mean. Chants will get you Cred, which contributes to you winning a single game.

Yes, right, i forgot the scenarios and street-cred for it.
The test games we played, where only for the mechanic and so we let that detail behind us.

Next week i buy ground plates in 12mm mdf (or of you mean thats too thin?). The foamboard from the architecture shop was a fail.
The edges bent up.
Title: Re: The AGGRO Thread
Post by: monkeylite on September 12, 2015, 11:08:44 AM
I use 6mm MDF for some of my stuff. Don't think you'll need anything thicker than that.
Title: Re: The AGGRO Thread
Post by: Bowler on September 12, 2015, 11:46:39 AM
6mm for the game board?! Wow, that's really thin but works for me.
The plate should be in two parts of each 60x120cm and so it's better to pick up and play at friends.
Title: Re: The AGGRO Thread
Post by: von Lucky on September 12, 2015, 01:32:19 PM
For that size I would go with the 12mm thickness.
Title: Re: The AGGRO Thread
Post by: monkeylite on September 12, 2015, 02:37:50 PM
For that size I would go with the 12mm thickness.

Well, I've got about 12 1200*600 6mm boards for various surfaces/settings and they work fine for me. But I use them in my home. I don't lug them around much (sometimes from upstairs to downstairs, etc). I don't take them out, and when I needed to, I bought a cloth instead, coz carrying two of those boards, with all my other crap, and fitting them in my compact car isn't straightforward, and I am especially wary of scuffing the corners, which I would guess would be the main wear and tear you would get.

The 12mm boards would be twice as heavy, of course, but I imagine they would cope with more wear and tear.

Some of my 6mm boards have also begun to curve slightly (especially the ones plastered with PVA), but for me that's negligible.

One compromise, I guess, would be to use 6mm but to reinforce them around the edges.
Title: Re: The AGGRO Thread

here is my first design. anything to make better or did you mean, that board is playable?
the board is 12mm mdf. heavy heavy heavy but thiner would be too wobbly. could test some different boards in the wood store.

Another idea for the scrap yard. sorry for the bad picture.
so could the scrap yard be up left and on the right sight maybe some houses with backyards.

a road straight from left to right at the scrap yard.
downside the road some house blocks with a pub and a store and a little green vor the burger van.

I haven't played for a while. I wanted to try out the rules with dice instead of cards but haven't got round to it.

People at my club haven't been keen on it, coz, istm, the subject matter isn't as acceptable as wars (which makes sense on one level, but is kinda odd on another).

30x30 sounds intresting and make it better for transport.
have made two boards (each 60x120) of mdf and put a model cement with sand over. looks nice for asphalt.

still need the buildings and im not sure to take it from warbases or 4-ground...

next week i have more time and make some pics from the boards with the new ground.

Main stand work in progress, got do outside of second tier and add some seats, ad boards which I've had some seventies style boards made by Charlie Foxtrot Models which look great.

Bowler not got any 4 ground stuff but warbases stuff is nice I've ordered some terraced houses. Check Charlie Foxtrot Models too he makes some really nice stuff and great to deal with.

Thanks Ray, I'll get one sorted.

Got some Warbases terrace houses on order going to be low relief and one will be a corner shop, also getting rest of stuff I need for my main stand and terrace from Charlie foxtrot. Pavements and front yards.

Got an idea for floodlights using a sarissa wind pump and some building site lights from ttcombat.
All this will cover 6 of my 15 tiles.

Wouldn't old Subuteo stuff (try E-Bay) be of use. They used to do:-
Stands; Flood-lights; Score-boards; Edge of playing-field fencing etc.
A bit smaller than 28mm. but useful surely e.g. build a box shape building (burger bar/ St John's ambulance post etc) and put the score-board or floodlight on top.
Title: Re: The AGGRO Thread
Post by: orm1 on January 13, 2016, 06:21:52 PM
Subbuteo stuff is way to small i had a massive collection when I was younger now gone 😢 including four floodlights that were useless. I've been outbid a several times on floodlights, then had a light bulb when looking on sarissa precision site and the wind pump minus the top section looked ideal for a floodlight hopefully it will end up looking something close to how it looks in my head. TT combat have sets of bar chairs and cinema seats £4 for 60! So they will be pushed into service my planned town is going to be mostly made up of mdf buildings and extras that I will try my best to put my own stamp on. Plenty of good stuff around from a few different companies so will be mixed and matched.

If you put brand new batteries in them, and turned all the lights off in your room, at night, you could just about see them glow, a little bit, maybe.

For TT they have some different styles in nature, city with street or sci-fi.
Price sounds nice, im only not sure if the elements fits fine.

Ok not using other thread now with my British town build (Eastport) going to put it on here instead if everyone would prefer.

Anyway made a bit of progress over weekend on stand plus my terrace houses and corner shop.

Corner shop is built, a huge pain the behind getting it to fit as was the front yards but really happy with how it's looking.

My main stand as been worked on with seats painted and in place five of my six ad boards done just the granada one to finish. Side of stand done I'm well chuffed with it so far, can't wait for it to be filled with fans there is a gap under the top tier than I might put my phone or iPod in to player footy chants on "We Love You Eastport We Do"

The pantile is Wills OO materials, SSMP206.

It's driving me nuts at the moment coz the sheets are c.135mm wide and my buildings are 300mm, so I have to widen the parapets to use up the 30mm, which is too much. So there's a lesson there.

Been plugin away at the stadium section, Floodlight painted just needs basing and a bit of weathering. Main stand is built just missing a sign on outside saying EASTPORT F.C first few fans will be arriving soon from killer b. I've decided to leave the end open so I can place my iPod in and play crowd noise which I've already done :D

I'll get some pics done.

View of where it will meet the edge of table and where iPod will go I might make a card piece black it out just tack in place. Over head view and side and rear ive given it a broken gutter and tried to make it look run down.

here a tryout for a terrace house.
30x14cm base. maybe right in scale but i think a little bit smaler for tabletop would be better.

Yeah. My terraces are 30cm long, too. It's a big chunk of table to use up without any interaction.

I have eg, 30cm terrace, 20cm corner house, 20cm road, 20cm corner house, 30cm tarrace. And that's your 4ft table.

Just a suggestion make them into six houses instead of three. my terrace houses are about 50cm long but only 8cm in depth because they are low relief so just fit on table edge though I do want a row opposite.

Nice start though what finish are you going for? Brick or rendered? Another tip I used sandpaper for rendering on my chippy glued on with pritt stick, quick and easy bit of dry brushing (use an old brush) and used some washes to dirty it up.

Nice collection of miniatures. You seen killer b games geezers? Fit well with aggro minis plus same era and they have a footy fan

six houses on 50cm could be an idea. as lo depth of sure. in the streets i would try to use smaller buildings. so i have more choices to change the board design and streets.

the killer bee miniatures ive seen. some pages earlier, i asked for bobbys.
but primary i will use the ainstys miniatures.

about the firms; the grey has only a primer and will be painted for a friend and the other two are mine.

some more firms and hope some more bobbys (have a scenario idea with bobbys) will follow, for support aggro and the ainstys minis in germany.

Painted the petrol station. Should have done it as I was going along, instead of painting most of it in situ, coz it got a bit awkward.

Cheers on models I just don't want to say I'm going to do this and that and then  it doesn't happen I'm just waiting on what the sculptor says about whether he can do it and cost. It's not just something that I thought would be instantly seventies.

I forgot that I'd been asked by Ray to post a pic of the four footy players sculpted so far.

I'll get that sorted later today.

Wanted to try and judge the amount of interest in them if you are interested and how many teams or single miniatures you might want.

I plan to sell these at £2 per miniature or £18 for 11 man team that would be 1 goal keeper and 2 each of the other poses.

Also I've asked this question on a Yahoo group and had 5 confirmed teams and others interested, in pre ordering teams or single miniatures, this would allow me to finish the sculpts and get casting but like a kickstarter I suppose but with less risk if you pay with PayPal you would have their payment dispute process as a back up not that you'd need that and if you order then change your mind a no fuss instant refund.

I've had someone wanting to place a pre order but I've said that I want to see the amount of interest in pre ordering before taking any orders if there isn't enough then I don't want people forking out money and having to wait a while.

If there isn't enough interest in doing it that way then it will still happen just over a longer period.

I won't take any interest in x amount of teams or miniatures as a commitment to ordering just wanting to how many if any teams I'm likely to sell initially.

Cheers

It goes forward with my board.
Tryout buildings from 4Ground and warbases.
4Ground has fantastic details but its to expencive when i dont want to play in the buildings.
So i will use the stuff from warbases....

On following weekend i introduce Aggro on a Roleplay and Tabletop Con in my Hometown.

The layout from the Picture is not fix. Will see to use the Garage (that need a paint) and a small green with a memorial and two or three park benches.

Get yesterday my stuff from Ainsty Castings and Buildings from Warbases. (thanks Andy!)

Start for some Promotion Games at Games Cons, a new Table. Larger and with a football field.

We use Bobbys as third group to play in scenarios and later as stand alone crew. When the rules are smooth usable, i can post it here, if you want.

here an update with ne new buildings from warbases (all is wip).
next week, we try out the new board design and some ideas for the bobbys too.

a part of the policesquad. the most are from ainstys and some from crooked dice.
the idea is, to integrate they as third fraktion.
their mission could be, to break the line of two firms or go stand alone in the game.
costs: 1 point for normal bobby, 2 points for bobbys with dog, the bobbys with sticks could run faster.

last days, i get my phone boxes from reaper. nice quality by low price.

for the police rules, we are testing some different mechanics. so all is not final.

the point price for bobbys is following:

1p - bobby on the beat
2p - police dog man
2p - bobby with club (he can move 8" per round)

the idea is to have a police buildig and two police phoneboxes.

at each police box starting two bobbys on the beat.
the bobbys can spend their actions to call for help. in point cost of the calling people who spend his action, come new colleges to help. they starts at the police building or came from the edge of the board.
maybe two standard bobbys could spend their actions together to call for a police dog man or a faster bobby with club.

if you have any ideas, let it out.
we are in testing with it and not all runs round.

Not been on for a while and not had time to do much modelling :-[ bowlers table looking great. Should have the fifth football player sculpted next week it's taking me some time to get this project done but hopefully it will be worth it, I'm not a bad painter (very slow) but I'm really looking forward to having the finished figures and having a team painted by a really good painter I have a couple in mind think excellently painted figures just look much more appealing.

Wanting to make a couple of football pitches, one worn and muddy ideal for seventies or even escape to victory also aggro pitch invasions and a nicely cut pitch. Don't want to use a subbuteo pitch because of the shooting line. Any ideas from you clever lot?

One option is from a company called Astrobase in Italy who make stuff for subbuteo and they have a vintage worn pitch and the shooting line is dark green so blends in but no D on the edge of box. It's nearly €40 plus postage

I've put a pic of the neatly cut grass pitch I'd like make or buy.

Cheers

No idea, but top pitch looks awesome (so something to work towards maybe).

The Astrobase one - what's it made out of? Can you easily paint/flock the lines?
Title: Re: The AGGRO Thread
Post by: orm1 on May 28, 2016, 06:35:56 AM
Top one is an image I found but that's the look I'd like to achieve.

I think the Astrobase pitch is cloth it says it can be washed and ironed on reverse side it's just a shame about the D missing because the idea of hiding the shooting line with a darker green is perfect f or what I need.
Clearing my garage out at the moment so hopefully have somewhere permanent to model and game.

Get today the stuff from Ainstys for my game table at the Nordcon next week.
That's little bit like the Salute.

My gaming partner get the hard and smart firm, with skins only. The con will be fun.

New stuff are more parts for the station and Andy send a phoneboox and a letterbox as special.
Think the new table gets a lot of nice details.

Andy, thanks to support all my strange ideas.
At the Nordcon, we try at first time the bobbys rules in public.

The footprints from the buildings will be cutted out. So cant nothing move.

Unlikely that a police force would use vehicles as old as that, They tended to replace every 5-7 years maximum. A mk1 Transit would be your best bet if you can find one in your scale of choice.

That should've been matchlock miniatures mate that really helpful predictive thingy.

Love the streets too you really pump these out fast, I'm gonna sack my builders they're still tiling my first row of terrace houses. Slackers!

Thanks. I'm gonna get a bunch of those. I like the grenadiers idea, too, for Living on the Frontline, but probably best not to buy a fourth squad before I've finished my first.

Had a strange last weekend at the NordCon. We go there for public testgaming and thaught that maybe come some people they are intrested for aggro.
Ok, start at friday evening and ends on sunday after teatime. The table was visited from late in the morning till 2 o´clock in the night.

The bobby rules runs not so smooth as we like. so it needs more private testgames...

I started at Facebook an Aggro Skirmish Group. If you want, feel free to enjoy the group.
Actual al members are germans, but all are fim in english and you can write in english there.

Title: Re: The AGGRO Thread
Post by: orm1 on June 21, 2016, 10:21:30 PM
Thanks monkey think it's about 54cm it's 3 x warbases terraced houses plus a little extra I did want it a bit longer so I could have the paths go down the gable ends but the largest box I could find for storage just fits what you see.

Title: Re: The AGGRO Thread
Post by: orm1 on June 21, 2016, 11:18:39 PM
I paint the bricks in my chosen colour then rub it all over with a cream pastel chalk wipe of excess with a dry paper towel then rub it with my damp finger not to damp then pick out a few random bricks with the brick colour you could give it a quick dry brush I usually dry brush some black to give it a grimy look.

Got a few photos so you can see the stadium section and where it's up to it needs a bit more wall were the turnstiles are plus a gate, I've started the ticket office (ainstys pie shop building) steps for retracing behind Goal fencing and ad boards plus fans lots of fans the seated fans are gonna be a pain there is 62 seats not going to fill them all but want it to look reasonably full I'm converting an aggro hooligan so he's seated and will have to do a bit of searching for more. The section behind the main stand as the chippy it needs more pavement some rough ground for a burger van another shop and I'm thinking a billboard also got a petite properties telephone box to add which might go on this section.
There's going to be some figures glued in place some here and there. My shop as its sign LEWIS newsagents. Anyone has ideas then fire away.

Thanks fellas, I know mdf gets a  bit of negativity but I think it makes a great base to work from. Really happy with the atmospheric comments as that's exactly what I'm trying to achieve. Yeah don't worry a wall will be in place at front of terrace.

You know after sarissa and Charlie foxtrot made some railway stuff it's something I'd like to add even if it's just a simple stretch of line and a signal box and I am toying with the idea of making or converting a train into a seventies Britain diesel type but it's just a thought at the minute not really looked into it. You know a football special as they were known.

Ok I'm going to ask on here as it seems the best place it's not really aggro but the football miniatures have been on this thread and there as been no objections, basically I'm try I g to think of a name for my miniature range not that I can for see me running a miniature company but thought it would be good to give them a name, I want it sport related so I've come up with a few possibilities what do you think?

Victoire Miniatures
Game Changer Miniatures
Underdog Miniatures
Playmaker Miniatures

Just ideas at the minute but any feedback would be great.

I've not been able to post image on here as its too large but I've put a pic on my blog so if you want to have a gander then great, and if someone who knows better than I do wants to see if they can put the pic in the thread than great.

Been doing quite a lot of work on my town board i'll take some pics was gonna use my tablet but pics were rubbish so I'll take some proper ones at weekend. I've finished my ticket office added steps to my terraces, roads have been painted and marked concrete in stadium done though one section took longer to dry with first coat so doesn't quit match what I did with the others but I'll sort it just a pain. Mainly all the jobs I've just not bothered to finish. I've got a good idea in my head what it will all look like its going to be 12 boards 31cm x 31cm I got from ttcombat I've done 8 well when I say done they are well on the way to being done. There is going to be at least 7 more buildings all mdf that will be modified, I like some shop fronts that come with different style buildings that want fit the theme so they need to be mixed with others that do will be a couple more terraced houses a pub and 4 shops (bookies, barbers, Grubbs record centre and one more.

Talking of Grubbs record centre I don't know if you remember my first version well it's not going to be used I've only got the shop front  lower floor frontage  so would need to be fitted to a building but if anyone wants it just for the cost of postage then let me know and I'll send it.

Today i build on a modular game tiles. The four are for testing. When all is fine, a friend will made the tiles in mdf with a cnc machine for me.
And than a lot of board tiles for board sizes of 80x80cm to 120x200cm.

What you think about that?

My luck is to have a small House with one floor where i have enough space to work and store all my tabletop stuff.

The tiles Arne 40x40cm / the straight long pavements are 40x14cm and the small corner elements are 14x14cm.

Next week i can take some pictures of the Board with miniatures and some Cars.

Looks great bowler look forward to seeing it with miniatures.  I got some new goodies myself this week one that I've waiting on a while but was well worth the wait some custom gates from fenris games for my stadium, the pub from Charlie foxtrot models and ordered some stuff from yeoman models. The pub was daunting when I opened the packet of bits but it went together well just needs painting now, want to do an interior for it. I have a long list of stuff for the board I guess I'm not the only gamer with long wish lists.

Bit of work in progress on my gate for my stadium section another wall section to add this connects the turnstiles to the ticket office. Ive made a start on my pub and generally plugging away at it. Here's a pic of the gate bit of a crappy pic took it on my tablet I'll take some better ones when it's done think I'll have a couple of bobbies standing next to it.

Picked up some seated civilians from receiver castings nice little figures and 8 for £11 will do nicely for the seated area of the stadium. They could be painted as they are and put in but I'll swap a couple of heads and add some scarves.

Here a first look for the Aggro Bord for the "christmas in basement" event in following weekend.
Ok, there is a little bit to do to the weekend. The streets and pavements needs more drybrushing, the christmas tree needs snow and glitter and balls.
But for the first ok or what do you think?

Title: Bobbies for Aggro - Beta Rules
Post by: Bowler on December 01, 2016, 12:57:04 PM
Today we try out some new ideas for the bobbies als own fraction.

The point costs:
I
for free - the chief inspector who can draw 4 cards.
Possible actions:
- take firm member in arrest (like side 4 at the rulebook)
(is the chief inspector in the squad, draw for an arrest 4 cards and use for him the highest card)
- go in scrap

1 Point for a bobbie on the beat. He draws one card.
Possible actions:
- take firm member in arrest (like side 4 at the rulebook)
- go in scrap

3 Points for a police dog man. He draws two cards.
Possible actions:
- go in scrap and draw two cards so long the dog is on his side
- let the dog out and get two extra cards for a scrap or to or pass the bottletest without to draw a card.
(after than, the do is gone and he can draw only one card in scrap)
- he cant take firm members in arrest, thats the price for more cards to draw in scrap

2 Points for a bobbie with club
Possible actions are:
- take firm member in arrest (like side 4 at the rulebook)
- go in scrap

All bobbies havent all actions on 12" or 9".
No Chants (police hymns souds ugly) and no throwing whatever!

This rule ideas are in beta stadium. Maybe the point costs get an update when the ballancing is not smooth.
Please feel free to tryout and tell what you think about.

In February we go with a large Aggro Table to the Tactica (its little bit like the Salute) and we want to present than the bobbies as running own fraction.

Table looks great. Is that a christmas market in the town square, coz it looks like the one just down the road from me.

Maybe a ranged police action could involve simply trying to get the crowd to move away (or in a specified direction).

A Force of Policemen has Units with 5-11 Men per Unit.

U can have so many Conastables and Seargants in the unit if you want.
For each Unit you can have only one Policemen with dog.
The Chief Inspector goes to an unit of your choise.

Constables and Sergeants can take firm members in arrest when they are in 6“ around or they use their clubs to go in scrap.

Each unit can have only one Policemen with dog.
In basecontact they use their clubs.
The dog can be let out once and gives 2 extra cards (joker) to push an arrest or scrap.

The team roster get the design of a pocket telephone book. If you want, i can design it that it runs in egnglish too.
Let me know if it intresting for (or is "to you" right?) you.

My english is bad and is ok to order an beer or count to 100 (to say with Andys words). so please, improves me at time to time...

This weekend we where at Tabletop Weekend. Nice con in a side wing of an old church building with touch of a museum.

It was funny and we could give first public testgames on our new Aggro table for the tactica con next month.

A lot of strange rounds where played and the new Bobbie rules runs smooth. ok, was time, so we had worked on it for some month...
Has anybody here tried the bobbies rules?

Nice, today i got an email from Ainsty Castings' Andy.

Robi Baker, the sculptor of the Aggro range sculpted some new figures for the new Policemen Box.

The new figures will be
Inspector
2x mounted police
2x new bobbies

In the box you find a Police Force with enough models to play a 30 point games and a rule sheet with expansion rules for the bobbies.

Actual we work for some rules to fit a mod gang in Aggro.
Karl from Crooked Dice give us at Crisis some blister with the scooter boys and Andy from Ainsty spend the rest Minis for the mod gang.
Ok, not football, but i think that would be a nice thing to fit some youthculture in the Aggro world.
What do you think about?

In the late seventies, early eighties the mod revival (two tone, ska, etc) was a massive influence on British youth and football culture. Mod figures would fit seamlessly into a footie crowd from that era.

I am also planing to do some 15mm Aggro. I still have started with Bobby-conversions. Just some head swaps with heads from PeterPig Colonial British sun helmet and bodies from Peter Pigg WWII Bobies and Airwarden and Flames of war Civilians.

Hey lazy guys,  :D

Chris and me worked at last time for the new Mod Gang rules.

We get the Mod Crew from Andy from Ainstys last time, when we stay at Crisis and Karl from Crooked Dice spend the Scooter Boys for our project.

The idea is, to fit some youth culture gangs in the Aggro world.

Here the first run for the extended rules.

The Mod gang have normal crew member, they go by feet and groups of scooter boys.

In the gang you can have crews and scooter boys, but not mixed in one unit and a Guv´nor in the crew OR a Sccoter leader.
Crews have, as normal 5-11 members, the scooter boys can have 1-x members.

Model                  Points          Cards
Guv´nor               free               4
Lads                      2                 2
Geezer                  1                  1
Scooter Leader       4                 4
Scooter Boy           3                  2

Possible Actions: (for Scooter Boys)
- fixed 9" movement
- intimidate
- taunt
- attack

MOVEMENT
the movemt is fix with 9"
(scooter boys drive only slowly(er) to start an attack)

INTIMIDATE/TAUNT
a scooter mob drives with max 1" away from the enemy and ends with max. 3" of the enemy.
than is all normal as the rules. (the underdog moves 6" away to table edge)
scooter boys would never singing on the scooters! but normal crew members can do it.

ATTACK
Scooter Mobs can attack the opponent crew out of the run.
They drive only and hard in the crew and stops 1" behind. The scooter player decidet how many enemys his boys will attack.
Than the crew player decidet who of his guys go in the fight.
Use the rules for normal scrap to handle these attack.

I hope you understand my extended rules. I know, my english is not the best ;)

A friend of me, makes these practical rulers for our Aggro Demos.

We get next weeks 2 sets with an other design.
At the right side should be a logo of a pair of boots, on the 6" movement, a flying bottle on the 9" and a megaphone on the 12" ruler.

What do you think about that?

the Scooter Boys look brilliant along with the Mod figures. Wish they were on Lambrettas instead of what look like Vespas, but nice nonetheless. Can you get mirrors, lights and fox tail accessories for the scooters?
Might be fun to redo Bank Holidays in Brighton battles between Mods/Skinheads and Teddy Boys/Rockers.
Does anyone make figures for late 80's/early 90's Casuals? Painting Stone Island badges on sleeves would be a pain =)

Hi MadBob,

I'm afraid there won't be lambrettas, extra mirrors, lights and foxtails.

We got the Vespa scooters from Karl (Crooked Dice) to test it with the Mod Gang. The other mods are from Ainsty Castings.
Let's see if Ainstys will make Scooter himself later or if we will continue to use Crooked Dice models.
Currently, the new policy box has priority. The Minis are still at the Sculptor and will hopefully be finished in late summer/autumn.

More modern figures are not planned for the time being. Which doesn't mean it's out of the question.

In the German community someone painted beautiful Fred Perry laurel wreaths and I once painted a Burberry skirt for a Renee.
But painting a Stone Island patch is no joy.

Hi folks,

2018 will be a good aggro year, with some new releases.

Yesterday I got an e-mail from Andy. Soon there will be 4 new Taunted Hools, which can be used well with the Capo rules, which I had worked out last year.
I will layout the rules again and upload them as PDF.

The Mounted Police will also be ready this summer.
As soon as there are first pictures, I post them here.

Yesterday we were with Aggro again at the Krümel-Con and had one day of fun and could adjust the special rules for Taunted Hooligans and the Police Men a little bit. Both are in the starting blocks and will be available soon.

The board is half of the presentation at the Hamburg Tactica (Trade Show and Con in North Germany), with a new layout.
This way the cemetery of Ainstys finally comes into its own and is much better to play.
The houses of Warbases are the absolute all-rounders with us anyway...

What do you think of the board layout?

Hi,
I'm glad you like the board.
The size is 4x4 and is a part of the board we were on another big con with earlier this year.
The layout of the streets and green areas is very well done and very versatile.

The Mounted Police is almost ready and will hopefully be released in late summer until autumn.
Currently the Taunting Hooligans will come first and then one by one, the other things.

Something else is planned for the winter (I'm just saying - football match)

As this groupshot don’t show the details I have taken portraits. As I my camera is a cheap one, I don’t have managed to build a lightbox by now and I not a crack with GIMP, the colours have a bit to stark contrast. Esp. at the lad in the white shirt. But anyway they are close enough to get the right expression and look good anyway.

It's coming along. The new Minis have been back from the Sculpter for some time. Andy has now made the moulds and the first test figures are finished.

The new characters will soon be available on Ainstycastings' online store.

I hope to have the minis there early for the con next month to be able to use them.

For the Police Men we are in the process of finalizing additional rules for the mounted police.
With the Taunted Hooligans even more special rules for all 4 guys will come out of the blister.

Yeah, this is gonna be a great box.
2 complete football teams will be included the box called "The Match".

To play the whole thing as a match, I recommend the rules "Panzerfäuste Futbowel".
(the players are activated by normal playing cards)
I've talked to Rob from Hysterical games and it's all right with him if we capture his rules :D

Under this link you can download the Panzerfäuste Futbowel rulebook:

Still going with the theme that this once great team is going through a tough few years ground in a state of disrepair under the manager Ray Gregson (Gregson Out!) With only a handful of decent players former England keeper Vic Barrington , Midfield hard man Terry Sykes and play boy forward Tony Martin Eastport struggle in bottom half of the first division.

If you were gonna do a campaign for a football season you obviuosly aren't gonna want to play a full 38 game season even for one team and generate the other results was thinking of another way like a set of scenarios that lead to another for instance first game of season all fresh win takes you one way draw another and another for a loss and same again maybe 6 games would create a season.

Hope I've explained that properly
Title: Re: The AGGRO Thread
Post by: has.been on October 09, 2018, 06:39:02 PM
As I have suggested before, rather than playing a LOT of games,
have a pack of event cards & draw one before you play a game.
Examples of such cards could be:-
Playing a local rival. You must not loose (can play for a draw or kick them off the park);
You can avoid the relegation zone by any result better than losing by 3 goals;
A player on the opponents side is called up for his country (International duty);
One of your players is out with an injury (random dice for who it is);
If you loose by only one goal your bitter rivals will enter the relegation zone. Or
You are hoping for a high bid for one of your players. It would be nice (increase offer)
if they have a good game, however price will drop if they are injured.

Title: Re: The AGGRO Thread
Post by: orm1 on October 09, 2018, 07:03:41 PM
Has.been would you link the events for instance you have one that you avoid relegation zone so if you fail your next game is to save you from the drop?
Title: Re: The AGGRO Thread
Post by: has.been on October 10, 2018, 09:51:25 AM
I would think it possible. A mini flow-chart on the card, such as 'If you failed this task last time, then....' I would also suggest some dicing be involved, e.g. must win by half D6 (round up) goals'.
This would reduce the risk of playing the very same scenario.

cards do not have to be as small as normal playing cards. Extra large cards are available, as are stationery cards. The game Sea-Strike had 'mission briefings' in envelopes.)

There are lots of possible scenarios out there, just look at real football. England once had to beat a minnow team, I think it was San Marino (I watched it live & was so disappointed that it has been wiped from my data banks) England needed to win by a LOT of goals, but San Marino scored first!
England went on to win, but not by enough, so guess which side won that scenario?
Title: Re: The AGGRO Thread
Post by: orm1 on October 10, 2018, 12:16:59 PM
Some great ideas which set of rules do you use to play?

And yeah tons of scenario ideas 2nd leg of a cup tie down on aggregate or drawn against f.a cup minnows, win game to save managers job (Gregson Out!) , be nice if some tied in with aggro too
Title: Re: The AGGRO Thread
Post by: has.been on October 10, 2018, 01:17:19 PM
I did write a set for a VERY simple WW1 (between the trenches) footie game, quite some
years ago. I ran it at COW (Conference on wargaming) & a few time since. I have been
meaning to write a set for fantasy football ever since Blood Bowl came on the scene,
(yes THAT LONG!!!!) It is one of those projects that gets a dusting off every few years.
Dwarves = good at tackling, but rubbish at cutting out the high crosses. etc.
Problem is I would also need to convert figures for the teams.
5-a-side would be easier. No throw-ins, off-side et-al.
Title: Re: The AGGRO Thread
Post by: orm1 on October 10, 2018, 04:17:42 PM
I've been working on my own rules on off for a long time too every now and then I go back to them. Wanted no measuring and one dice roll to resolve an action rather than for example one for a shot then the save then the scatter worked out by using i think 2015/16 top English strikers had a 25% shot conversion rate did a load of test rolls I think 100 and a goal was scored 20 odd times so was happy with that.  I'll post the shot chart with the zones and modifiers see what you think was working towards similar for tackles ,passes headed challenge and a few extras.

For example you choose tactics before the game passing game,  long ball, defensive counter attack sort of thing and which one you choose will give you a reroll for a certain action like long ball gives you a reroll for a long ball roll.

Also random event cards like in blood bowl you get one random to use during the game
Title: Re: The AGGRO Thread
Post by: orm1 on October 10, 2018, 05:35:01 PM
Here's what I've done on shooting thoughts ? The movement is done in zones too I think the benefit is apart from no measuring it means a pitch doesn't have to be a standard size to fit with rules
Title: Re: The AGGRO Thread
Post by: orm1 on October 10, 2018, 05:38:35 PM
Like I said idea is one roll to resolve each action and no measuring to speed play.

Title: Re: The AGGRO Thread
Post by: has.been on October 10, 2018, 07:46:04 PM
For a simple elegant system I like 'Pay-dirt' (an American football game).
In it you have one sheet for offence & one for defence. Some dice are added for a
bit of randomness. The basic idea is to not just use your best tactic, but to use the
tactic your opponent is weakest against. e.g. Liverpool might have a wizard of the dribble,
however use him too often & Man.Utd. will work out that they can stop him by 'double
marking' him. On the other hand if Liverpool spot that on Utd.'s defence sheet they are poor
against the 'long ball' they may try it & catch the defence napping.

I also like the idea that a lot of a game (or battle for that matter) has no great effect on the
result. In other words it is not necessary to resolve what 22 players do every go. All that is
needed is to establish the point of interest (resolve that) with a small possibility of something
of interest happening 'off the ball' ("He is completely unmarked on the left!" or "Good lord
he has kicked out at the defender" or "The Goalkeeper is waaaaay off his line") these things
might have an effect on the game, they would certainly add a bit of 'chrome'.

What do most aggro players do for team names? I prefer made up teams and firms mainly as it's something I've done for a long time Eastport for instance is a team I made up when playing subbuteo in about 1985/86. Just wondered what other players preferred.
Title: Re: The AGGRO Thread
Post by: has.been on October 14, 2018, 12:43:02 PM
When a club member ran a fantasy football league (at what was then my local club)
I used some made up names. My Dutch international was Hertz Van Rhental, but
most of the team were named after people who worked in my office. They all became
very interested in how their Avatar was performing. Did I score? Was I booked? Did I
pick up an injury? Some names were modified e.g. Mary Smith might become Manny Smith,
Susan Jones might become Sean Jones, but nicknames were also useful. I was helped here
by an elder member staff member who had always insisted in giving people nicknames, one (tall)
young girl was referred to as 'Big H' Job done for her player's name.

The suburban format doors on the Sarissa model is more like one of these:

Of course, you might ask Sarissa if they can do a DMU for you.

For a demo game maybe - but will that area be playable area? Or is it purely for looks? Because it might get in the way of a casual game and be annoying more than adding atmosphere.

It's a set table my set up is in garage with one edge against wall so that's where this would be placed so won't effect play. What I was think was a railway track station with a retaining wall behind wall a row of low relief buildings if that makes sense so that non playable part would be just a background piece amend something like 10cm deep everything below retaining wall is 28mm and playable. Vic Barrington, Eastport's and England's goalkeeper.
Vic is the main reason Eastport aren't playing 2nd division football as his heroic displays have kept Eastport in the top division as the club struggles against relegation. Signed from his home town club Rotherfield town for a modest £65,000 the man with the safest hands in football has been capped 34 times by his country and formed an integral part of England's 1970 world cup squad in Mexico though the team was unsuccessful in retaining the Jules Rimet Barrington and his team mates performed well reaching the quater finals before being knocked out by West Germany

And another addition to the side Alec Gordan team captain and last remaining member of the squad who was part of the 1965 league cup winning team. The Scot who has 48 international caps is good in the air and a fine reader of the game which which makes up for the ageing defenders lack of pace

Another handsome devil.... :D

Reminds me of my serious football watching days in the sixties. In those days the only “foreign” players in the team were the Scots, usually about three and the rest mainly from the local area. And it was possible to just turn up and get in for about 1/9d. How times have changed. end of old fart input :D

Loving your work....more please.

Brilliant!

If Big Ek is the last member of the team then we now we need the full team shot, of course.

To do that properly, the first row have to kneeling - a whole new range of kneeling footballers is obviously required. Maybe a job for Blind Beggar Miniatures? :D :D :D

I couldn’t believe it when he got that new salary package. I mean - 40 quid a week for a football manager....! Pure madness.

Hi you lazy folks,
what do your aggro plates and figures do?

We are currently working on the 2nd edition and try out some new mechanics.

The new edition should also include all the special rules for Police Men, Mods and Streakers Run.
If there is still room in the new rulebook, maybe the rules for The Match will be included as well.

Let us surprise you and post some pictures again. It's really bad with you :D ;)

Here some impressions from a test game the last weekend, im my garden

Bowler , did you ever get chance to rework the football rules ?

Steve Blease from Wessex Games gave me the ok to adapt and use the Futbowel rules. That's what we're going to do.

Currently we are revising the Aggro rules, so that there will be a 2nd edt. as soon as possible.
There should be the special rules for the new Police Men Box, Taunting Hools (Capo) and the Mod Gang.
If there is still space, the rules for The Match will be added as well.
