So, I have been compulsively buying Perry WoTR boxes for the last few months, but haven't really done anything with them. However, I recently picked up a copy of Lion Rampant for some Lotr gaming, and have decided to use it as an excuse to paint up at least a few Perry's. My first retinue is going to be none other than the Kingmaker, simply because I am descended from the Nevilles, and want am excuse to put something at least similar to my own arms on some figs. I'll take some photos of the first group of Bills tomorrow morning. Here's to 100+ pages, or whatever Richard is up to on his MMAA thread by now ;)

Well, I'm wishing you all the best. Tempted by the boxes, but need to get other projects sorted first. I'll live vicariously through your sfforts.

Alas, nobody else in my group can be bothered doing a real persons heraldry, so I guess I'll do a Captain Blood and just enjoy myself with what looks good. I will be making up arms and names for each retinue, and using place names from the area I come from... Kind of. Anyway, picture time!

This first guy is a halberdier/bill man from the force of Sir Edward Rottworth of Bamburgh, whose arms are a bear rampant on a gold field.

Here is another halberdier in livery coat. Eventually there will be 12 polearm wielding guys in various armors, to indicate that they are "Expert Sergeants" in Lion Rampant.

The livery certainly needs work, but since it was my first go I'm not too upset
And finally, the force so far:

More coming soon :D

Black lion on a gold field? Somehow very familiar to me :D
Seriously, they look very nice!
And I gather you're a Cornwell fan as well?

It was meant to be a bear ;) , and yes, I am an absolute Cornwell fanatic.
Time for more dudes! First one is a bill with the helmet that reminds me of the Rebels in Star Wars

Next is a more heavily armored footman, almost a lesser man at arms, with a target and what appears to be a lochaber axe, please correct me if I'm wrong :D

Now, the obligatory shot of the unit so far:

I'm frantically painting bill men as I type, so there should be more soon.
Thanks for looking! :D

Another update! Yay!
First up is a halberdier in a sallet, with one of those tiny pennants on top. I tried to paint a bear on the pennant, but it is a tiny area, and didn't turn out very well. Oh well, it'll look alright on the table.

Next up is a chap who was nicknamed MC Hammer in our test games, his pole hammer was made from a horseman's hammer from the mmaa box, on the shaft of a pike from the mercenaries box. I believe his head is from the mmaa, as well.

And, that's right, you guessed it! Group shot time!

Thanks again, any comment/criticism is welcome!

Very nice. Need to break mine back out now that the family have all gone back to there respective homesteads.
-
That's right. Blame me. Everybody else does ;)
Nice builds. You're off and running. Just beware, because they are addictive. I keep trying to move onto other projects, and keep getting drawn inexorably back to building more Perry medieval plastics... Mainly because the buggers keep producing new sets which I just HAVE to build... ::)
Agree about the Star Wars helmet. Just doesn't look right to me (although I'm sure it is). Think I've only used it once, on 300-odd figures...
Keep them coming.

By the gods, Richard replied. Dude, you are freaking amazing, and the Perry Bros should be giving you a cut, I probably wouldn't have bought the models without your numerous threads :D hope ypu like the rest when they're done!
Alright, two more done, I just need to do the last four foot and I can start on the bows.
First up is a crappy photo of a spearman in livery. That damn strap made painting that bear far harder than it should have been...

Next we have a bill in a black brigandine, looking mighty serious in his bascinet. I'm not normally a fan of open faced helmets, but I have a love for this head.

Lastly, we come to my now standard group shot. One more rank and the bills/ halberdiers/ spearmen/ dude with hammer will be complete!

Thanks again for looking at my botched attempts at heraldry! More updates soon!

Alright, I've started basing the bills, as I've finished painting the last few. I'll finish the bases and hopefully get some photos up tomorrow. Then it's time for some shooty types!

Very effective-looking war band.
-
coming along nicely
-
Looking good.
I'd like to blame Cpt. Blood too, not that he's to blame for anything, but just in case as it's always good to have a scapegoat ready.
-
Blame me anyway :)
-
Great billmen!

Nice stuff, I don't think I could paint a recognisable animal at that size.
Just for the record, I also blame the Captain
