Man I love the WEG Star Wars minis. I've heard people bad mouth them for years now, and I can't see why. I'm always looking for new Star Wars stuff, but I'll always have a soft spot for the West End Games take on these guys.
Now if we can just get Fantasy Flight to make metal versions of the Imperial Assault miniatures.

Lovely.

My Star Wars stuff is all still in a box awaiting some attention.
I have to ask: Where is the shuttle from?

all very nice  :-*

the shuttle looks like a kit rather than something from a more 'toy based' range (eg micro machines fleet action or whatever it was called) - perhaps an old Revell kit?

Really beautiful stuff.  A small batch of WEG Star Wars figures were some of the first figs I bought.  I still have a couple painted up somewhere, but the paintjobs are shockingly bad.

Not one of my projects, but it's Friday afternoon. Star Wars party foods (http://www.bitrebels.com/geek/geektastic-collection-of-star-wars-inspired-party-foods/)  :D

My own Star Wars stuff is from the Hasbro Fighter Pods range, which is somewhat fluffier in tone than the pictures above ;D I do regret not getting these figures, and I'm torn about the current stuff that's out there. I quite like the 54mm figs, although there aren't a great number of poses. The new board game is a possibility, but I have enough projects at the moment.

Some of those are brilliant!  I think the cute Princess Leia cupcakes are even do-able by a clumsy baker like me...  The Yoda Soda is a recipe from the Star Wars Cookbook, it's basically just a lime smoothie iirc.  Yummy though.

Great stuff! The AT-AT and Shuttle look brilliant alongside the minis, and the flocking effect is very well done.

Not one of my projects, but it's Friday afternoon. Star Wars party foods (http://www.bitrebels.com/geek/geektastic-collection-of-star-wars-inspired-party-foods/)  :D

I almost bought up a pile of Star Wars cake moulds and things that Lakeland had in stock, recently.

hey there, ORK, perhaps you could show us some not- yet- painted pictures of the bunker , the platform, and whatever you have in mind to build.
what happened with that West End Games inspired Imperial barracks you were about to build???!.

On the other hand there's a great Star wars miniatures battles Hype growing at La Armada forum. you should join and show the buildings. I had found them wonderfull, and the bunker has got the ROTJ feeling, whatever the color scheme you use, anybody can recognise it! ;)

Join La Armada!!!
best wishes!!

The barracks idea (from "first strike mod

I'm looking for ideas to complete the Imperial Buldings like a "command post"...any idea?
Title: Re: Star Wars MB (WEG miniatures)
Post by: Michka on July 12, 2015, 03:26:47 PM
From the last shot, I think you need to angle the sides of the barracks out at the bottom. Not only would it be closer to the illustration, but it would fit the Star Wars look a bit more.

And since I haven't said before, your designs are amazing. The landing pad is just perfect.

huesped: you are the best!! ;D

Here one model of land speeder, my friend huesped and me send to print in 3D some time ago: LAVr QH-7 Chariot

I have decided to reinforce with more armour plates the vehicle, as well as other elements (twin blaster Cannon, communications and radar antennas) to make it more similar to the original model.

Great work on the pirates. You've added some much needed variety to the small number of thugs that are normally available.
And the Chariot looks really nice too. Such a useful vehicle to have on hand when writing up scenarios. There are times when an AT-AT is just too much vehicle.

Thanks Chaps for your comments!! ;)

We are doing some star wars vehicles in 25mm scale using mdf laser cut and some scratch build pieces. Our idea is finish them between February-March, I will post here all the progress. After that, if you are interested we can produce some models in different scales, but we are not a company just two guys who enjoy the hobby and Star Wars univers!!  ;D

Right now we are working on this vehicles, all of them are finished to cut, pending to ensambly and paint:

Imperial:
HAVr A9 Floating Fortress
LAVr QH-7 Chariot
S-1 FireHawke Heavy Repulsortank

Rebels:
Freerunner

We have in mind some more vehicles. specially after R1..but the next one is going to be.... a "scenery piece" ....:P

Thanks guys, I apreciate to much your words!
Michka: I don't know what to say!!only I can explain why I Prefer WEG minis, first because they are in metal , second the scale 25mm (true scale) give you the chance to deploy more minis on your board, third they have the vibe from the classic movies (I love that) and finally is not difficult find this minis on internet, and other compatible brands to do conversions... ::)

Rafa: You always are inside my plans man !!  :D

This week I have some spare time to invest in our hobby thing ;),I will post photos with more minis soon.

Since years i try to collect as many as possible of the old figures from WEG. Sometimes prizes are too high, so some missing. Maybe you can help me here. Does anybody knew waht happened to the old moulds and designer?
Where can I see pictures of the GZG-25mm-Miniatures? On there website you can see only few pictures. Which figures work as Star Wars-Figures with the old WEG-Miniatures???

very nice looking builds, looking forward to seeing them painted.

Nurgle & Baron
Most of the GZG 25mm work for alternative factions, rebel or imperial units. I've painted up a few squads http://www.posullivandesign.com/tags/ground-zero-games
Sadly GZG no longer produce these, ownership has reverted back to Eureka

They seem to scale very well with the pre-paints, which means they'll fit with Imperial Assault minis too.

Those vehicles are superb.

Here is my 3D printed Imperial Chariot in action. You can tell it is rather flat, with some panel lines and detail-- but not as much as yours. I did try to create some tonal variation with both a wash and a filter, as well as adding decals.

Oh my golly! Yes, lots of sanding. I still need to paint, and maybe add some greeblies to the Freerunner.
The issue with WEG scale 3D printing is cost. The chariot was 120, while the Freerunner was 300 US dollars. That was a lot for me, but these are star wars craft I've always wanted.

Story line:

Shulen Than, an ancient Imperial scientist specializing in alien technology, managed to defect and hide for years on the remote planet Aaris III on the outer rim of the Khatol Sector. There he has remained hidden in the eyes of the empire for more than 10 years, earning his living as a farmer of moisture and wining the friendship of the native race of the planet.
Recently one of the many imperial probe droids, sent by the Moof Kentor Sarne to explore the many planets, which still remain unknown in their sector, gave by chance with the farm of humidity of Shulen, recognizing its owner as ' an Imperial fugitive ' and sending immediately a transmission with the information of the discovery.
Fortunately the natives of the planet, they managed to destroy the probe Droid and alert Shulen, who, knowing that Sarne did not be long to send his men to fetch him, has sent a relief allowance to the ' partisan of Saw ' asking them for help in exchange for vital information for the rebellion.

Dear All,

My friends Bin,Qiang and me, we are preparing our first game based on WEG Dark Stryder Campaign for next month August 16 . I will post the report here after the battle.... ;)

Some time ago I was thinking to do an Imperial base, but never find the time to do it  ::) ...but definitely I need some kind of outpost or small base, usable with any faction, So after think carefully, I've decided to go ahead with that one:

This piece of scenery,  is going to be in MDF laser cut. and is going to be possible play inside!!  :D, usable with 25 and 28mm miniatures....

More info soon....

Allways good to see your work, and the work of others on here that are keeping the West End Games Star Wars Miniature Battles love alive.

Best,

Commander Parlan, here the information send by the probe droid before their self-destruction as requested:

Subject: 239845-KL-23
Name: Kiran Tosh, Imperial Officer
Rank: Captain
Status: fugitive
Speciality: Alien technology
Last assignment: Classify
Wanted by: Moff Kentor Sarne (Khatol Sector)

Deployment zones:

Rebel Forces.

A roll of dice determines that the Rebel Forces will be deployed in the first place ( ‘the Defenders’) and therefore take up positions around the moisture farm(South side) ensuring  Kiran Tosh safety, who delivered a Datapad with information about the top secret Imperial Project 'dark stryder' to captain Ukijo.
The rebel player has time to take cover around the moisture farm.  They have some time to prepare a warm welcome to the imperial forces. (They start the game in medium cover, heavy cover to the units depolyeds on the buildings).
Special: ‘moving package’: the location of the main objective (Kiran Tosh) will be unknown to the attacker until the Defender decides to move on foot in which is placed the miniature that represents it. Can use the vehicle to move the target.
Rebels, are expected to arrive with Kiran Tosh save, to the extreme opposite to the farm, (North), where displays the attacking side.

Total Victory: Kiran Tosh and Captain Ukijo must survive.
Partial victory: Kiran Tosh must survive.

Imperial Forces.

Commander Parlan has take with him a small but lethal force with some of the best imperial forces under his command.

Deployment, opposite to the moisture farm (North side)

Special: The attackers will receive 1D6/2 storm troopers squads after 1d3 turn, areas North, West or East.

Total Victory: Capture or kill Kiran Tosh and Captain Ukijo
Partial Victory: Capture or kill Kiran Tosh.

The rebel player, knows that time plays against him, so he decides to go into action by mobilizing his Frerunner and a squad of rebel troopers and faces them from the left flank for the battle. Meanwhile the Commander Parlan can not run any risk, knows that the future of career in game and maybe rather than that... so then decides to divide his forces, intercepting the advancement of free runner at the time that some of its forces in the forest, awaiting possible avanzade by land from the rest of the rebel units.

The fight is intense and produced casualties on both sides, the worst part was the leading the Rebel troopers which is quickly decimated due to the cross-fire of the scout troopers. Both vehicles are affected and it seems that the Empire maintained the tactical advantage... but... hidden by the trees nearby, the Saw Partizans... they concentrate their destructive power in one of the scouts patrols... singly numerous casualties

Thanks to the coverage offered by the Imperial Chariot, the Death troopers manage to make their way to the farm. the rebel commandos stationed atop one of the buildings and the rebel troopers, semi covered by some bushes opened fire on the vehicle, that is quickly disabled... the rebels excited by recent events... They seem to be savoring the victory... but then when... the troops of death imperials alluding to his name... wipe out patrol rebel troopers squad.

This confrontation resulting completely trimmers, the AT-ST manages to disable the Freerunner, for soon after to be destroyed thanks to the accurate impact of CPLS Launcher of the Saw partizans. The scout troopers survivors give good account of these who end up giving his life for the sake of the cause!

The Rebel Commandoes initiated the evacuation Court after charged several casualties in the Death troopers squad... The Imperials, know that the reinforcements will be arrive soon, only must maintain its position and cashed out many casualties are possible...

But it is not for nothing that the rebel commanos are the best troops of the rebellion, and thanks to an accurate impact of a grenade, the Scout troopers squad is completely annihilated, while Captain Ukijo bring down to the Commander Parlan. The Deathtroopers manage to neutralize two commandoes. the imperials reinforcements, makes is appearance...

The Ukijo Captain gives the order to his comrades to evacuate to the protected, while she faces the death troopers remaining threw a grenade! Urrraaaaa manages to kill 2 soldiers, the last deathtrooper fails to bring down thanks to the captain that is partially covered.
The commandos throw a smoke grenade to cover their advance, at the time that tell Kiran Tosh is directed to the pick up area ...
The stormtroopers newly arrived take positions and open fire but they don't get any impact.

Rebel forces finally succeeded in its mission and get evacuate Kiran Tosh, the Ukijo captain, also won reach the evacuation zone, but imperials troops claimed is a great number of casualties. many good soldiers perished that day... What information can provide the fugitive to the rebellion? will be so important?, maybe know you soon...

I really like this thread, so much love and dedication going into it!  8)

I think the only WEG mini I have (somewhere) is some kind of Rebel Walker I picked up with a bunch of second hand minis many years ago, but I actually have the rules in my possesion (also somewhere).

I am just about to give in to the urge to buy into FFG's SW Legion, so I should find myself painting minis and vehicles, and planning terrain purchases (for which I shall fetch a lot of inspiration from this thread), later this summer.  ;D

This is all very inspiring. Glad I found this website.

I am trying to simultaneously recreate the tabletop from the SWMB book background pics, finish my Hoth forces/scenery, and paint up the armies needed for the original 3 SWMB scenarios. Will update you all with progress pics. It sounds like a lot to tackle at once but, the projects are so visually different, they'll provide nice breaks from each other. I posted links to my Hoth stuff in another thread.

Yes he can produce the vehicles to some one  else...already some more people from this forum place orders to him.  8)
After produce the vehicles to some one...already has the cutting layouts...so is more easy...you can feel free to ask to him Directly his name Guillermo (from Argentina): gdcdreams<gdcdreams@hotmail.com>
...the prices in my opinion ...are not too expensive...but right now...has other companies who they start to produce some vehicles and the prices are similars...so you decide... for example you can get the Imperial occupier tank ,here: https://imperialterrain.com/collections/sci-fi-rpg-tabletop-terrain/products/tx225-legion

If you have any idea for other vehicle, ships, scenery...ask to him...because he is a good scratch builder!!  :D

I hadn't seen that Imperial Terrain site, there's a lot of tempting stuff on there  o_o

I may try some of the stl files first, as the usual customs nonsense will make the tank very expensive to get to the UK  :( My 3d printer has quite a small build plate, but some of the pieces should fit

Some quick WIP pics from the cell phone, will try and get good pics later. 12 bases of vegetation are done and a house and vaparotor. Still need to touch up the edges of some bases though now that everything is finally dry. Next up is 7 bases of tall terran trees to make the forest a lot bigger and to block LOS and to provide more versatile scenery.

Great to see more progress on your Project Tauntatun Scout!! ;) Did you the Tatooine building by yourself also?
Title: Re: Star Wars MB (WEG miniatures)
Post by: Tauntaun Scout on June 25, 2018, 01:21:39 PM
Yes, the Tatooine house is styrofoam, glue, toothpicks, and spackle. Then painted after a long drying time. The vaporator is made from a spark plug and hardware store oddities, then spray painted with several coats of white, then weathered with grey and brown, followed by brush on white to finish it up.

The plants are the usual tree materials plus some floral supplies, recombined in odd ways and attached to bases cut from plasticard. Can't get the old Geo Hex bases anymore so I made my own similar sized/shaped ones.

I have begun to put a dent in the Terran trees, I'll make 7 bases of those which, combined with the few bases of Terran bushes I made should be enough for non-Science Fiction games. My Bretonnians need a forest to hunt in after all.

When those are done I will try my hand at making the weird giant flower trees from the cover of the book! I'll make about 7 bases of those as well and that will complete the terrain system I believe. The Geo Hex I setup on a big blue felt cloth. Thus anytime I pop out panels, I have instant water features.
Title: Re: Star Wars MB (WEG miniatures)
Post by: Tauntaun Scout on June 26, 2018, 10:05:33 PM
Thanks, here's more pics, better late than never.

3 bases of crazy red trees that are presumably dangerous terrain, or some other type of special effect if I need them to be.

As for normal trees, I couldn't find the type of Terran trees I wanted so I had to use these ones instead. I have 3 more bases of slightly bigger Terran trees in the works right now. These plants are on a pizza box, fresh from the outdoors where they got two coats of spray varnish to reduce shedding. I did go and trim some of the tufts of tall grass after I took these pics, they weren't meant to be that tall. But it's easier to place too-big grasses, wait for the glue to dry, then trim them. My rebel fleet troopers need some shading and highlighting too... dug these guys out of storage. Umpteen years ago when I painted them I was in a hurry so besides black shading for the grey pants, and grey drybrushing on the black vests, I skipped the shading/highlighting and never got back them. A couple years back I realized that if I never painted certain 40k armies, no amount of miniatures would ever be enough, so I started painting those "I always meant to, and thought I would have by now..." armies. Once i checked them off, I felt a huge pressure lifted regarding painting. Then last week or so I realized the same was true of certain scenery. If I don't make the scenery from some beloved old books, I'll never feel like my scenery collection is done.  So here we go. For the last 20-odd years everytime I see styrofoam balls I think "I could make a Star Wars house from that" so hopefully that goes away now. Ditto sparkplugs and vaporators. Everytime I see spark plugs in the store, I think "I really want to build a vaporator".  So there we go. I have endless topographical features from my GeoHex setup, plus a moisture farm, and 15 bases of vegetation. 4 more bases in the works. Probably finish the vegetation collection somewhere between 20 and 30 bases. I assemble my GeoHex terrain on a blue felt cloth, so I can pop out hexes to create ponds, streams, or shorelines, so I am also all set on water for my games.

It's amazing how adding a few weird orb fruit things, and lots of fall colors, makes ordinary bushes look "alien". I plan on having about half the finished collection be Terran trees and bushes though, so I can have a forest in any 25mm or bigger game setting. I guess some of the trees and plants would work for 15mm but not all of them.

I'll also make a couple more Tatooine buildings to turn my moisture farm into the suggestion of a town.

Money, and to stop people using other makes as proxies (again, money). I wish someone other than FFG* had the star wars license and made a game / sold the figures without all the bloody cards, counters, tokens etc that bump up the price (* except GW of course or I'd have to sell souls to the devil to be able to afford them).

WEGs are true 25mm. In this way, they mix well with GZG, Denizen, tin soldier (from the US), some of the Eureka lines and 25mm minifigs (they have several ranges - I even converted a celt into a jedi knight with not much effort). They would probably also mix well with citadel's preslotta base ranges.
