And here we go with the first leaderboard in this season. This time I'm using (thanks to the suggestion of gnomehome!) the distribution of the voting points based on percentage of votes. Not sure if it's going to make that much difference at the end but I also believe that it's probably the most fair way to distribute the points betweeen the contestants. We will see.
Now please check your points. If you find any mistakes, just drop me a PM please.

Prof - not sure how you calculate the points from the difference in votes. It seems that votes count for a lot less than bonus points though eg you scored 314 votes difference and get 8 points. I scored 78 votes difference and get 6 points. This seems like a tiny points difference for such a large votes difference. Then I get 10 bonus points and end up above you in the table :o ?

Thank you for choosing my black riders, I am honoured!

Woohoo! Top ten!
That's not going to last long though lol
cheers

I have no bonus points as I didn't enter anything armoured :)

Well, that's partly true. But concerning vote bonus points there is only "For every full 50 votes received, a team (win, lose or draw) is awarded 1 vote bonus point." So, nothing about votes distribution and not a clarification why for example I get 9 bonus points for 437 votes instead of 8.
Perhaps it would be nice to once again describe the exact procedure concerning vote bonus points (and add it to the main rules body).
Thanks.
-
I would if I understood it Michael, but I don't.
The Prof has adopted a slightly different method for calculating the votes bonus (per gnomehome's suggestion at the top of page 2 of this thread) based on % differentials rather than absolute numbers of votes. As I say, I don't really understand, being possibly the world's least mathematical person. So I had better leave him to explain :)

Like mentioned in the original post, I've used the percentage method this time. The explanation with the succeeding adaption of the rules is coming.

Oh I get that bit - it was just that the theme bonus is worth more points than the votes bonus. You won your round with a big margin, I won with around 25% of your margin, yet I score only 2 points less....

from the adapted main rules:
10a. Vote share bonus points
1. Both contestants' total vote scores are added to determine the total vote score.
2. Next, each contestants individual score is divided by the total vote score to determine their share.
3. Each contestant receives 1 vote point for every ten percent of the total vote score.
4. For fractions of ten percent, the lower score is rounded up to the next full ten, the higher score is rounded down. This means that unless a contestant receives zero votes, the minimum score is always 1, the maximum score is always 9.
Example: If, in a match, 500 votes were cast, of which 400 were in favour of contestant A and 100 in contestant B, contestant A receives 8 vote points (80%) whereas contestant B receives 2 vote points (20%).
If contestant A received 370 votes (74%) whereas contestant B receives 130 (26%), contestant B's vote points are rounded up from 2.6 to 3.
We consider this to be a fairer representation of the voters' favour than the previous system based on the actual number of votes, since it does not penalise matches with low total vote scores.

The guy in the pot should be considered in heavy armour ;D

Ah bollocks lol
-
Nice, moved up a couple of places and got my Entry used on the Leaderboard :D
-
Looks like I may have peaked too soon. lol
-
I'm the 5th! :o :o :o :o
I will enjoy this while it lasts (just a week, I guess). ;) lol
-
Rob Bresnen is listed as 1 W and 1 L on the latest leaderboard, missing one round there?
-
I suspect I peaked last week. :'( Still, being at #5 at any point in this competition is pretty great. :o

Indeed, thanks for the hint, it's been a mistake. Will correct it next time updating leaderboard. Sorry, Rob! :)
-
On the leader board I only seem to have been in two rounds (won one lost one) not sure why?
Edited: just read above post. Thanks pocoloco.

Think I got bonus points I wasn't supposed to get as my round 4 entry wasn't new

I suspect I peaked last week. :'( Still, being at #5 at any point in this competition is pretty great. :o
Now I feel exactly the same way :(
;)
-
I'm going down..... :D
-
Ah bollocks even more lol

Is there something wrong with the totals? I believe W/D/L and bonus points are round tens so the last digits of vote points and totals should match. However, they don't for positions 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 28, 29, 30, 32. (List not guaranteed to be 100% accurate.) Rounding error somewhere?
-
Didn't slide as far as I thought I would .... but another loss this round will see me mid-table at best on the next leaderboard I think.

Yes, damn Excel formulas >:( will take care of it next time.

And my slide continues...
Looks bad for Round 6, too.
Looking for that elusive third victory. Maybe next week...

I predict this is the highest I'll go until the end of the league. :D
Meanwhile, at the far end of the league, the Admiral seems unstoppable, although Captain Blood is giving him a run for his money.
-
Man, I can't even see the Admiral from down here.
I'd be happy to hold where I am at this rate. :?
-
When there is nothing left to a man ... there is still revenge! So, now I am plotting my schemes for the next LPL. :D
*read with increasingly insane voice and hands raised to the sky* New cam, better cam, new minis, more minis, maybe more terrain, more background, more more! muahaha ... o_o
I am somewhat honored, to have my match-partner's pic shown as titel this round.
Still, You all did a marvelous job here. Thanks again to all fellow combatants for letting us have these wonderful entries! And for organizing it, as well.
love it

Made it to the leaderboard banner. A small victory, but I am honoured to be selected :)
There were some excellent entries in the last round.
-
Down, down down I slide ::)
Maybe this week I'll go back up a bit :)
-
Wow, what competition! Thirty of 32 entrants have at least two losses... :o
Maybe next year I'll be ready to re-enter....!

-
I made the leaderboard picture :o Thank you for the honour Prof.
A gain of 7 places too. Life is good !
-
Well, I've made two things better than last season: more total points and more wins. So, at this point, I feel like it was a more successful season than 8 (at least for me).
Now, to finish painting up that Round 10 entry...
-
This LPL I feel somewhat happy to be on the leaderboard at all. However, position three wouldn't be that bad, if it wasn't backwards. lol
Well, one always need a goal to stick to. ^^

How interesting, I was wondering what might happen in the last round if I recall it is usually first vs second but as they have faced each other already can they do so again?
-
No, but a few of the leading participants have not faced each other yet, so there should still be something worth watching at the finish :)
-

Thanks, and as others catch up it will still be all to play for!
The final, like very round is always worth watching anyway

They'll have to give you a prelim round Jim so you can warm up a bit!
-
Well Gentlemen, it's been an emotional roller coaster again and I have struggled almost every week to get something in vaguely on time. It's looking like a 5-5 for me.
The entries in this round are simply amazing and there are very few match ups that are easy to choose between. Well done everybody, it has once again been a pleasure competing with you and a massive thank you to Rich for running it.
-
Hey! Thats my viking longhouse on the leaderboard. Thank you very much. Honoured!
-
After ten rounds thank you to all 32 Gamers in this fantastic Competition. It was great fun the last ten weeks. I had a lot of fun, great paintings and exciting battles.

Thanks Alex.
Very interesting charting how people moved up and down the rankings with the ebb and flow of battle :)
I will be working out with Dr Mathias how we distribute the lovely little LPL medals he has designed to winners past and present.
Meanwhile, here out of interest, is the record of podium positions across the 9 leagues we have run.

Number 10 should be interesting!
