Title: Behold! A Mechanical Prussian!
Post by: Borrible on July 12, 2006, 10:33:23 AM
I needed some really evil prussian mechanical fighting machine for my VSF setting.I couldn't find any that would fit my exquisite taste,so I made it myself. :)
Come and see the evil minions of the even more evil overlords of Venus,Berlin and the rest of the Reich.
Allthough I consider to name him 'Vader I' because of his face mask,I'm still looking for an appropriate German sounding name.
So suggestions are welcome, but please nothing with Dalek in it.:)

Topnotch work, Borrible! that was a lot of work, wasn't it? How big is the old prussian? How about "Eiserner I"?

Thank you.
well it would have been much less work,if I had used some more metal bits and pieces.Since I'm considering maybe to get them produced profesionally sometime, even if just for my personal use,it is easier to make them heat and pressure vulcanisable.
Beside that I'm still trainig the basic skills of sculpting and he was a good way to practice mechanical stuff that probably need some sanding and the like afterwards.
After all he's just my tenths sculpt.

He measures 28mm from bottom treads to eyes and 40mm to top of the Pickehaube.

really not bad for the tenth sculpt  8) I think it looks professional enough to get it produced and sold too. How long did it take to sculpt?

Sigh,that is a bit tricky.
I allways plan to measure the time, but often forget it.
Like most people do,I sculpt several models at one time.
I even paint and sculpt together. There're times you have to wait for the putty to harden,so you do something else.
Beside that the TV runs in the background and allthough its more a kind of radio for me,sometimes 'Six Feet Under',Monty Python and the like can be very distracting for me. :)

Its a hobby for me,pure recreation.I don't care about the time gone.
But I guess pure worktime about 5 hours.
