Title: PonyGrave [Nov27 - Throwing Goats]
Post by: blackfly on September 21, 2015, 02:12:43 AM
The Town of MadPonies will be soon be seeing wizard battles similar to those happening elsewhere in Frostgrave.  No terrain will be re-purposed to be winter themed, so the game will be re-purposed to fit the existing more verdant world of MadPonies.

Today I finished a nice giant to bring the pain on the random encounter table

My other recent completions that will be adding to the games are the Frostgrave objectives (previoulsy shown here, but added to this thread for completeness sake)

He does indeed look like he could stomp little peoples flat!  And chortle happily while about his task.  Well done.

I finally got started on some of my warband. 2 archers, a thug and a barbarian.

Bases for the whole warband by DragonForge.

The giant is impressive.  Great bold colors on the soldiers and the look brave enough to endure the cold winds of Frostgrave even bare chested.  Nice work!

Nice giant, especially they eyes. I always find eyes are a nightmare to get looking good.
Also don't put your back out picking up that scroll treasure, it's way heavier than it looks.

Thanks all!  I like the stripey trousers too, rufus. There will be more, but its hard to exercise restraint and not have them over represented, just because they're fun to paint. ;)

Loving these. The miniature selection is great and the paint jobs really pop. Totally agree with the striped trousers comments previously - after seeing a tutorial on doing tartan I tried and loved it, now it's a constant struggle to resist every time a see a nice coverage of cloth!

I finally got my treasure hunter done (Hasslefree), and a fella from warlord to be the troop types with a staff (tracker & apothecary if memory serves? It's been a year or more since I looked at the rules).

Lovely stuff (great stripes on those trousers)
Trackers have a staff and bow, but you could say that's a throwing axe instead ;)

Mistress of Ravens

Had this on the desk WIP for a couple years, finally wrapped it up.

Mierce miniatures spell caster with bird-spell removed and actual bird from Bad Squiddo Games put in it's place.  Raven attack marker is Fenris base & standing stone with Reaper ravens.

Those are great! I think Imps are great fun in the game and I have never had a model of them that really does justice to how amusing, annoying and, just occasionally, deadly they can be!

While it will never be frosted and snowy in my WarmGrave world, it might sometimes be autumn, so here's a little seasonally appropriate affectation for an objective marker.

Nice scarecrow - scratch build or manufacturer ?

The scarecrow is RAFM (http://www.rafm.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=RAF&Product_Code=RAF03855&Category_Code=SC).  Shrooms and pumpkin are from MiniMonsters

Apologies late to your excellent posts. Really nice work. I heartily approve the beware of over striping trouser message. I well know the point where your painting gets decent and you start to achieve your imagined goals when you pick up a brush and !!BAM!! everyone’s wearing something beautifully painted with stripes often trews :) It’s like an aesthetic drug or at least it was for me. I’m a bit rusty currently and need to ease myself back into painting 28’s and feel the striped flashbacks approaching :).

Keep up the good work,
BALM

the latest big baddie in the town of MadPonies, a stone giant.

Also, my first attempt at obsidian, which I'm pretty dang happy with.

That’s a nice bit of obsidian blackfly! Not an easy subject, so much so I’d consider it and then probably do something else if I couldn’t nail it first time  :D

Obsidian does indeed look beautifully done - and I love the way the Giant really does look as though he's been formed out of a hillside.
