I'm aafraid I'm succumbing to the Cult frenzy - GW seem to have got this one right.
I already have some old models, including the running patriarch, as well as some Rhinos for the cult. But the Limo has eluded me.
I considered some historical armoured cars, but they never seem to have the right look.
I bought one of the Batman part works with Batmobiles, then couldn't convert it as it was too pretty (slightly small for a hybrid to squeeze in too, let alone a patriarch).
I'd really like to see some models people have used for this - and models which have potential. These chaps seem to be hitching a ride on the cult popularity, selling not one but a set of 5.

I only need one, and alhough details from each could work, no one whole car fits the bill for me, although they seem to be nice models.
-
Ooh; the top left one would be perfect!! :-*
But at those prices, I will probably just scour the Action and Lidl toy sections and convert a suitable candidate from there... ::)
-
Those are nice but somewhat small.
A Dakka user posted this:

I'm probably going to get this for my Cult:

That Dreamforge vehicle does look impressively large - and armoured - whilst still hinting a limo.
Nice choice, I think. 8)

Your right, that does have more of a limo feel then your average APC by far. Interesting.

Here's mine:

Why not a Marx Future Car? The one looks like a good limo possibility.
Someone was using said as a base and did some modding. I can't find the pic now.

Baldlea that's awesome reminds me of the Warriors film

you could always pimp out a stretch limo - Amazon UK link (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Teamsterz-City-Stretch-Limo-Vehicle/dp/B005HC1KZA/ref=sr_1_1) :)
It's 1:38, which is a scale I haven't seen before, so could be a bit large, but I'm sure I've seen others at a more appropriate scale.
-
Those imperial limos look amazing if a tad small. I've gotta love the stealers riding in a Hackney though! lol
-
I'm getting sorely tempted to jump on this bandwagon. The figures look great but it would be the making of the limo that would do it for me :D
cheers

Go on Mr Bibbly, you know you want to :D
And we'd wait with bated breath too.
And thanks for all the suggestions guys.
The Hackney: whio ever knew that GS cults fit well into pulp-ish themes too?! 8) 8)

TBH that's why I started this (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=87589.0) topic. :) Even if it's established fluff, a limo didn't seem quite right to me. Even an armoured one would be something you drive out of a battle, not into one. So I googled 'armoured car' and the MC-36 hit me between the eyes.
I have to admit the Dreamforge APC doesn't look too shabby for the job, either. It also has that Aliens vibe which isn't entirely inappropriate, either.

I was thinking the same thing, but also considering making some hybrid-types out of GS too.....
Stopping now, though, as it is about to be done to death (like SW ;D)......
;)

I own the MC-36: it's a beautiful model, quite large, and just about the right size. I had visions of GS limo when I bought it, but then thought it was too nice to modify, and adopted it for Pulp, retro supers and the like.
-
JimBibbly should do an LAF exclusive Hybrid Limo.... lol

I used one of those a few years back for another project only picture I can find of it is this one wasn't to bad size wise I thought

Ooh a limo challenge
This will be a sight to behold.
James, I hope yours has rose decoration like that pt-cruiser. Much nicer than skulls ;)
I'd be tempted - but I really need to focus and 'stay on target' with my sandport and trolls atm. I have the car already too.
Cheers
Matt

Oh-ho-ho! A limo challenge! I haven't done anything for my Cult in years, and this has been firing up the nostalgia meter. What to do, what to do...
-
Very little conversion needed on this one:-

Even though my Necromunda Cultists will probably not be needing a limo (too large a turning circle to be of much use in the underhive), I am sorely tempted to have a go at one as well, even if it's only for sh*ts and giggles. Then again; my Arbites have a pretty sweet ride already, so it'd only be fair, right? ::)
-
Since this building of limos seems to be a thing, I ordered some odds and ends - not a full model, that will be an assembly of the choice bits with some scratchbuilding.
-
@Desmond- WOW! That's a great conversion! Perfect! :o

I'm thinking of having mine double for a limo for my 2000ad project. I figure if I do it right (minimise the use of skulls) it'll work.

I've started collecting rubbish bits to stick together for this. I figure a Lynx(other men's shower gels are available! ;)) bottle will give me a good basis. Juice drink caps for wheels also.
-
Hmm... I was planning on using my yet unbuild and unsold Eisenkern Kellerkopf for my Adeptus Arbites as their ride but to make a limo from it... ???
-
I just ordered a Zvezda 1:43 Doc Hudson: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Zvezda-1-43-Disney-Cars-Doc-Hudson-Snap-Kit-2014-Plastic-Model-Kit-/331395494664?hash=item4d28b5f308:g:uy4AAOSwofxUddco (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Zvezda-1-43-Disney-Cars-Doc-Hudson-Snap-Kit-2014-Plastic-Model-Kit-/331395494664?hash=item4d28b5f308:g:uy4AAOSwofxUddco)
So more of a Cult Coupe than a limo. I'm thinking some kind of flying car like the flying DS from the Long Tomorrow. 1:43 is a bit bigger than I'd normally go for, but it should work with GW figures and it's a flying car after all, not a scale model.
Will likely come to nowt, but at least I'll have a snap together toy to play with!
-
Good choice.
But with a bit of plasticard and putty, I figure it should not be too hard to elongate it a bit to 'proper' limo dimensions? Especially when it's an actual plastic kit...
-
Ohhh, a Limo challenge, this sounds tempting. My first ever army was Genestealer Cultists, so plan to get the boardgame for nostalgic reasons, coupled with the fact that in my opinion this looks to have some of the nicest figures from GW in a long time.
-

I honestly don't know what that is. But for some reason you made me go look and see there's a die-cast 1:43 Ecto-1 out there. Not cheap though. :(
The 1:25 plastic kit is cheaper, but is probably humongous compared to 40K minis.
-
The Long Tomorrow is a comic illustrated by Moebius and a character drives a flying car that is very reminiscent of the Citroen DS (the most beautiful car of all time :D).

Aaah. Ta. I...
I actually have that, in the L'Homme est-il bon? collected volume. :-X
It's been too long since I looked at it.

Please note not the new ds ,but the classic from the 70s ,my dad had a couple of those even a ds ambulance he picked me up from primary school once, lovely cars
Apologise for thread derailment :D
-
A flying DS limo would be the perfect Cult limo; no thread derail here! :D
-
I was just thinking about a tinted window ds for cult leader lol
-
Hmmm...this has potential:

-
Cool. I might try to knock one out of my 3d printer. Why had I not thought of this before!
I always like the look of the minirons one and thought it would be a great limo for a cult.
-
The new gene stealer game is in the GW New Zealand online store for pre-order.
-
Ok I'm out! At least buying the box game. It's £160!!!! :o At least if my conversion from NZ dollars to pounds is right!
I'm still making my limo though. My classic hybrids need a ride!
-
I think they get hosed in the antipodes. The Betrayal At Calth set is $315 for them. It is $150 in the states. I'd imagine this will be about $175 in the states or probably about 110 quid.
-
If it is, that's not THAT bad. There is a stack of models in there! I really should wait until it's up on the UK version of the site!
-
Relax (https://warofsigmar.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/blogging/picture5/502/image2__2_.JPG), Andy. :D Still pricey enough, but not £160 pricey.
You didn't know about GW pricing in Aus/NZ?
-
Relax, its "only" £100 RRP, so around £80 - £85 from your fave online retailer...
-
Glad I have a youshop account so I can have a UK address.
Yep Andy. Down here we get shafted and can't purchase from overseas sellers either. Part of the GW marketing strategy. I was going to write more but this isn't the place for it.
-
Panic over! Found it for £80 on element games, if that helps anybody....
http://elementgames.co.uk/warhammer-40k/deathwatch-overkill (http://elementgames.co.uk/warhammer-40k/deathwatch-overkill)
-
So about half the price compared to down here. lol lol lol :'(
-
God, you guys REALLY are screwed over down there! :o
-
The 25% discount is ok, but shipping here might be brutal.... and I don't really need the game and marines.
Meanwhile, I ordered some wheels and bits for my limousine from Ramshackle, piles of useful bits there. I had intended to get just the wheels, but ended up getting mudguards, a bonnet and windscreen and a narrow body on which to build up the limo chassis.
-
And I have made a good start on the driver.... ;)
