After the Round 1. Let me know if you find any mistakes.

Those bonus points certainly can make the difference.
cheers

Yes... but never mind! (He said, not feeling competitive at all, oh no, not at all... :D)
Speaking for myself I'm happy to have 'won' a round in my first go at entering - next year maybe set my sights on bonus points and scenic backgrounds and so forth.
It's all certainly been a good inspiration and motivation for my painting though, and that's only after the first round.

That's the main thing :)

I must say, this round had more match-ups that were so close in quality (IMHO). A tough one!

The results of using the Swiss system ...!
-
There's only one or two match ups that are close (but I welcome this method of pairing). I am taking meldonium to keep me settled.

Just noticed that I received no bonus for round 1. I tried, Prof! I tried!!! :'( My thought was that I did two swimming humans (which do not count) but I did do 5 Sea Creatures (which should count?). Let me know. 8)

Indeed, sorry, Mike, forgot about bonus for "floating and swiming" miniatures, will add it next time updating the leaderboard :)
-
I always say, "It's not about the points!"...but then I always care about the points. I am a sad man, no? ;)
-
Nice to know i have the worst plus/minus...and all those kind people who said it was a tough decision in my match up ;)
Can i challenge Uncle Mike getting those bonus points? I was enjoying being ahead of him...at least for a round...
Like mike said...points dont matter...but for some reason i checked the scoreboard...
-
As points clearly don't matter for either of us I suggest next time we meet it should be over pizza, obviously discussing where we are in the standings. If I may be so bold as to propose a 'lowest points buys pizza' sort of arrangement? ;)
-
As i am about to lose round 2 and you will be winning...i dont like where this is going...but i will still buy pizza...
-
If I can work it into free pizza it is an excellent plan. LPL for life!!! 8)

But if you're eating pizza all the time how will you manage to paint 5 mins/ week? lol

After the Round 2. Plese check your scores and let me know if anything is wrong.

Congratulations to some (Za Zjurman, DBSubashi, Uncle Mike, etc) that managed to get a big leg up. Enjoy the shark pool.
I predict we're going to see a lot of hard fights (and I say bring it on).
-
I do like the Swiss System...although this time it landed me a very nasty halberd cut...! lol
It should give a less random aspect to where your skill truly puts you. I expect that there will be no more top ten finishes for me because I can easily think of ten more painters that are way more talented than I am. No longer can you depend on fortunate matchups. Great change to the league!

I like the new System too. High Tension from the start. Mike, I recieved my beating last round :D
And thank you Alex for choosing my Elbingers!
-
Just curious about the system, what if going strictly by position order dictates a rematch? That would seem a less useful gauge. Or do we start at the top, and go #1 vs. #2 (unless they have been previously matched, when it would be #1 vs. #3)? I'm just thinking that eventually we will all "float" to the level where our skill should put us. The sooner that happens, the sooner you will be hanging around the same folks who have similarly floated to their correct level. Hmm...or in my case, I should say SUNK to their level... lol lol
My apologies if this has been explained before. Oh, and I just sent in my Round #5...I'll be watching the next round from Venice! I'm flying there for Spring Break, spending a couple days, then driving to Croatia for a week of sightseeing...!

If I may explain that. The Swiss System usually has two basic variants, one which uses "tiers" of participants according to their skill level, and one which simply has one pool of participants from which matches are drawn. We opted to go for the second option since any pre-categorizing would not serve any purpose in our context other than to alienate the participants.
The "algorithm" I programmed sorts the participant in descending order by the established ranking (total points first, in case of ties vote difference second).
Then, in subsequent rounds, it matches the first to the second, UNLESS they have already been paired against each other in previous rounds, in which case it tries to match the first to the next participant, and so on, until a new pairing emerges, and so on until all participants have been matched.
Therefore, given the number of matches and participants, there *should* not be any re-matches.

Another draw! I think this won't be the last one.

1 Up! I didn't expect to see mine as the banner but thanks :)
-
It is certainly a fitting banner... was one of the most original entries yet! :D

After the Round 4.
Please notice, the bonus points for a newly painted team (10 pts) are not included yet because of some technical issues with the tool. But now some good news, everybody (really :)) had submitted a newly painted team for the Round 4, hence it wouldn't change anything for the pairings. We are going to fix it till the next weekend

I put it down to the dog ;)
Oh, and because you're another dioramic genius.
Enjoy it while it lasts :D

Yes, it is quite competitive there in the top 10.
-
This is probably the most competitive league of the four I've entered. I think I will be very lucky to break the midpoint of the Leaderboard at the end of it all!
I've decided that I'm the Whack-a-Mole of this competition. I on odd rounds (1-3-5) I get knocked down, then win on even rounds, to pop back up....only to receive a mallet on the noggin and go back down again... lol lol lol

There are 11 rounds this year. But I agree with your statement.

I knew what I meant...
I think ;D

I've had four matches thus far with 5-5 vote points, and the grand total after nine rounds is solid 45. I'd say it's exciting already. o_o
There's also some weird stuff going on at positions 2-8...

Agreed! The talent is so even among those masters. The Swiss Chess system almost ensures that even they will lose every once in awhile. It is amazing that Alex has had such a great run, and is a tribute to his Cecil B. DeMille-like entries that he's undefeated, so far.
When I saw I was going to be 5-4 after last round, I was like, "Crap! That's too close to the top...! I'm going to get schwacked in Round 10!" lol
I think #13 will be my personal high water mark for this season...
