In an attempt to get back to painting a reasonable number of miniatures.....
It will be an addition to my existing Chinese Warlord Army, to enable modest Warlord vs Warlord games with opponents without any suitable miniatures. If I can create some interest then maybe it will later let me field the full expanded army.
(The blame lies firmly with the League of Extraordinary Kriegspeilers' outstanding games over the years. 8) )

All Copplestone, apart from the FT-17 of unknown provenance.
If things go particularly well, I also have a lot of Chinese Bandits in need of paint. ::)

Thats a daunting number of figures to paint lol
Looking forward to seieng it all come together :)

Given I managed a mere 3 in the whole of last year it really is. :o
My output in recent years has been very low, so I need to do something, as I keep buying new lead.
Public encouragement/humiliation may be the only way forward... ::)

I know what you mean lol

I managed to paint a bunch of the infantry years back but stalled at artillery.....
-
If you're after public humiliation, I'll try to do my part!😉
Good looking force! We will hopefully all inspire each other go keep going!
-
Best of luck Paul as that's an awful lot of lead lol
cheers

I'll try a different tack..... ;)
That's a good size force Paul, big enough to play and with the right motivation not too onerous to paint. :D

Do it man. Do it...

Looking forward to seeing this one :)

Don't do the horses all at once. Its too painful. :'( Of course that may just be my experience.
Good luck!

First unit of Fengtien Clique troops painted. Only 13 miniatures, but regular units in 'Setting the East Ablaze' are 10 man.
The extra ones will eventually combine with existing troops to make an additional unit.

They look great! The flag adds a refreshing element of color.
-
Lovelly painting.
Good start.
-
Nice crisp painting. I always respect the guys with eyesight good enough to paint the multi-colored hat badges. Kudos!! :-* :-*

Absolutely, I hope painting all that dull grey doesn't make you go blind lol
-
Magnificent - very sharp and precise painting!
-
Excellent painting.
-
Beautiful work!

Thank you for the kind comments. :)
I'm getting back to a bit more painting after several years of doing very little and pleased with how these came out. I've painted more in the last month or so than I have for the past couple of years. That was part of the reason for taking part in Army Painter 2016. Lets hope I can keep the motivation. The next unit is already started.
The flag does add some colour to the unit. Thanks to 'joekano' for the flag which I printed out and overpainted:

Running slightly behind schedule as the latter part of August was exceptionally busy. ::)
Just need to do the last paintwork tidying up, the bases, flag and varnishing.
Hopefully they will be completed in the next few days. ;)

Great stuff 8)
cheers

Impressive ;D
-
Looking good!! Quite interested in the "Back of Beyond" stuff but I have so many other projects I couldn't possibly start another one..... Your painting is top notch, really got the best of those lovely figures. :)
-
They are really nice. Very consistent too.
-
Well it took more than a few days to finish them off and take a few photos. ::)

Struggling a bit with changing ambient light conditions, but the photos generally came out OK.
I should be posting my 3rd unit by now, but was delayed with real world events in the latter part of September. Need to crack on with it now. :)
-
Very nice Paul :)
-
They look great!
-
Excellent work! Is the fellow with the goggles/glasses up on his peaked hat a conversion? I have never seen that before.

They look fantastic Paul. :-*

Thanks for the kind comments. Got a little bit more done on the next batch today.

He isn't Lon, so I've checked on the reference pics I have collected and can't find any with goggles. I hadn't noticed that before. He was in a batch of miniatures I bought second-hand, but he is undoubtedly one of the many variations on the few dolls used by Mark C. Maybe that one is no longer in the mould?
-
Lovely work Paul! :-*
-
Thanks, makes sense to me. Like you, I have bought most of my Chinese second hand and have just never ran across that fellow. I will be on the lookout in the future. By the way, I just noticed that you varied the blanket roll colors, nice touch.

-
Great looking unit!
Regarding variations- my understanding (and I may well be wrong) is that Copplestone sells ten man units, but in some cases there are more than ten variants and they were semi-randomly selected. So, when purchasing a ten pack you might not get all the variants.
-
Well I didn't complete my 'Army' in the intended period, but it will happen eventually.
Here are a couple of extra miniatures that I recently painted for the Back of Beyond Painting Club:
Major General Francis Arthur "One-Arm" Sutton M.C. & Morris Abraham "Two-Gun" Cohen
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/Back%20of%20Beyond/Fengtien/One_armSutton_zpsmqn7pozt.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/Back%20of%20Beyond/Fengtien/2Gun_Cohen_zpsksc36ofu.jpg)
The rest will follow eventually, possibly some as part of LPL11.
-
Lovely brushwork. ;D
-
I really enjoyed your painted versions of both Sutton and Cohen, very nice and subtle shading in the clothing. The inclusion of more BOB characters and Warlord Chinese (?) is much anticipated in the upcoming LPL!

A belated addition to the list of AP2018 participants.
Another attempt to get my BoB Chinese and others painted.... :)
Starting with May, here are some of my LPL12 entries. A mixed bag rather than a single unit :

Agreed. Your LPL entries were fantastic.
