Air intakes? On Mars?
That spot of pedantry (sorry, I get like this with my SF sometimes) aside, they are quite interesting.

A swift googling suggests the potential for jet engines burning magnesium powder directly in Mars' 95% CO2 atmosphere
Plus I think those ideas for nuclear powered jet engines using a reactor to heat the air instead of fuel combustion would still work on Mars
