Title: [Goalsystem] Custom Dice Scott-Starter
Post by: fourcolorfigs on November 01, 2016, 11:30:19 PM: I got a fresh quote from Chessex on the custom dice for Goalsystem / SuperSystem/ Super Mission Force games.

This would be the dice used in this video:

(hot dice rolling action occurs around the 5:50 mark)

In order to get them at the price-break of $1 per die, and have them in even quantities, I need to order 600.

So that's $615 with shipping.

What I am proposing is getting interested parties together and have them Paypal me the cost of the dice quantities they want along with shipping and packing costs. I need to get commitments taking us close to 600 to make it worthwhile. If interested, respond with your desired quantity. Once I feel like it's a go, I will give folks a few days to pay me, then place the order with Chessex.

It's a two month turnaround as well.

If I get 600, it would be 200 of each, but I guess based on your orders I could tailor that quantity so we get enough of what everyone wants. We'll see. Ideally, everyone would take each color, the same quantity of each color, but I understand folks want certain things, and that's why I'll try to be flexible.

The face with two symbols counts as 2 goals. It would be the 6 on a normal D6.

Despite owning every rule set you've released, I haven't played any since SuperSystem 1e. Lol. Is there an extra goal mechanic for rolling 6 now? Meaning rolling 4 or 5 equals one goal and rolling 6 equals two?

If so, I'd be interested in 10 white and 5 each of the other two colors.

Yes, when we went from 1E to 2E, and moving forward in all of our games, the goal rolls yield 1 goal on 4s and 5s, and 2 goals on a 6. Super grants re-rolls on failed dice.

As it stands now I'll be producing 600 dice, and going over the numbers, I have pledges for 110 Blue, 120 Red, and 115 Ivory.

I'm willing to hold on to the extra dice and sell them off slowly somehow as we move forward. The cost will rise to $1.25 per dice for these later sales, so if you want to up your number now at a $1 per dice, please let me know.

I plan to just get 200 of each color done.

Once I place the order, Chessex tells me it will be about two months for fulfillment.

Once I call for the actual PayPal transactions to be done, don't forget to add the shipping for your part of the world. I outlined all of that on the first page of this thread. I'll dig that out and add it to this post for clarity. Thanks!

Also we've been working through tech issues with getting SMF's layout done, but I think Joe D. is now in a place where he can rip it out in a few weeks.

Now the dice. Here's what I am going to do. I've decided to front the production from my own funds. Seeing the "pre-orders" has given me confidence I can eventually sell them. It may be at $1.25 a dice as I would not mind making some small profit on them. The production cost is $1 per die, so it's not a huge margin.

This way once I have them shipped to me, and they're in hand, I can take orders via Paypal, and you folks can decide then what your quantities are. If you get only 10, but decide you love them and want more, you can always place a second order.

I hope to move on this in the next week or so.

I am inclined to allow this. This means I will run out sooner. If you're on the LAF pre-order list, it insures you get the $1 / dice price, but it does not lock down dice for you. You have to pull the trigger and buy them while I have them in stock. ;)

Just letting you know. And as an aside, because of the quantities and advance demand, I have fewer Ivory dice than Blue or Red.

Sorry about this. I ordered too close to the numbers from the pledges and don't have a lot of leeway. If you don't get an order in soon, this round will be mostly gone. :(

The good news is I might do another round and add some different colors.

Not sure yet. I plan to use the sales from Super Mission Force to finance this next round.

Alas, no. I need to do another batch. I am waiting on a rules book layout project to get done, then I can try to look at another round of dice. When is the event?

They're engraved. I still need to do another production run. I got sidetracked getting SMF 2nd ed. completed, but now that it is done, it's time to think about dice again.

I have a big training to prep for in mid-October, but once that is done, I will get the custom dice going again. Thanks!
