Yup, looks like Mr. S. to be. Well done!

Nice! Love the way you attacked the pinstripes. Did you paint the grey over the black rather than attempting the narrower lines; I was thinking that was how you managed the shadows so cleanly.

Blimey - thats so good

I'm not sure who makes this Cowgirl figure. I've got a feeling that she was used in some online painting competition years ago?

Yes, she was made for the Chick Challenge painting contest. I have one somewhere.

That was it, thanks.
-
I have a few of her not that mine came out as good as that!

wow very impressive stuff.

She looks quite nice! Alas, I do not have one. I don't suppose anybody ever put the figure )or the other CC figures in general production, did they?
-Michael

Not really Old West, but I was thought that I'd have a go at some perry Plastics. Here's a Union Infantryman.

Thanks for all the comments. Here's the last of the Foundry Mexican Villagers.
-
Lovely stuff Steve, I try in my own humble way to copy your style of painting and looking at these I need to get practising on faces. If I paint eyeballs on my figures they always look like they just sat on something sharp lol.
-
A Foundry gunfighter.
-
He looks well Deano.
:)
-
Thanks. Here's another Foundry one.
-
I like the Foundry pistoleros better than the blokes with rifles...
their Winchesters look too clunky.
:(
-
Excellent. Really appreciate you sharing your pictures - very inspirational.
-Michael

Deano, great work. You're making me want to do more expansions for Shoot N' Skedaddle just to put those fellas in there!

Another Old West character from Black Scorpion, this time one of the good guys.

What a joy to be able to play with such outstanding figures!
:-*

Both of the newest editions are excellent! I don't think I have the gunfighter fellow - is he one of the older metal figures?
Thanks again for sharing,

Brilliant. So good in fact I've started prepping some of my OW figures. ::)

Thanks again for sharing,
-Michael
yes, they're all metal ones. Thanks
-
Thanks. One of the fellows who did not make the transition to resin, I think. I have a few metal figures from the range bought some years back before I was actually playing anything with a Western flavor - I just liked the look of the figures. I have a fair amount more now that we are playing a Western-themed game.
Keep them coming, please!

Excellente Muchachos. So many lovely details.

Awesome Work. I love the variety of colours.

Stunning paintjobs. I'm amazed at how well some painters can create such clear definition between colours. It's particularly good on the Mexican. Try as I may I just can't do it! Lovely work.

Old West Gunfighter from Artizan.
-
Deano, you are one of the best miniatures painters ever - and I say that without any reservations.
However, the guy in the glasses, man, those spectacles just look odd. My first thought was he stole a set of native americans snow googles made from shell or such (which they did have). If that is what you were going for, okay, then. If not, not so much okay.
But maybe they are special power googles for seeing those undead thingies - which really aren't my thing at all. ;)
-
Great work Steve :)
Especially the chrome effect sunglasses given the size of them 8)
-
It is, surely, a reflection of the trackless desert in the character’s spectacles. I think it’s extremely cleverly done 🙂
-
Yes I have to agree masterful brushwork on the spectacles. To paint glasses at this scale is never easy. I think Steve has done a superb job. ;D
FifteensAway, if you can do a better job please show us the way? :)

Unfortunatley, I'm easily parted with my figures - 99% of the figures I paint end up in other peoples collections.

So, Deano, master of the brushes, how much would you charge to paint my expansive Old West/Plains War collection of 15 mm figures - keeping in mind I'd want it done fairly quickly?
Mind you, only a few or five thousand or so figures so not too overwhelming. lol lol lol lol :o :D :D :D :D o_o 8)

The outlaw Josey Wales from Reaper miniatures.
Some really excellent additions! May I ask how the Black Scorpion and Reaper models fit with Foundry and Deadlands? Especially Josey Wales?
I have some Black Scorpion pirates and found them awfully large in comparison to the rest of my collection (Foundry, Freebooter, Artizan).

Reaper and Black Scorpion are on the big side - 'Heroic 28mm'. Might be alright with the newer Foundry OW, but too big for the earler stuff.

:o :o :o WOW! Awesome brushwork!

with the zombie miners, what exactly makes them zombies?
Is it just how you're painting them or is there something visible on the back with them, because they look like they'd work decently as more general miners.

Lovely paint job on that one. He looks a bit surly, though. Hasn't had his coffee yet? 8)

That surly cowboy reminds me of a much younger Anthony Zerbe, the actor, who is still kicking at 86 and approaching being married to the same woman for 60 years (a worthy and unusual accomplishment for the Hollywood set - though it does happen).

Old West / Victorian Working Girl from Foundry

Was reviewing this thread a few days ago and noticed - gasp - Steve duplicated a figure! Oh, the horror, the horror. lol
Need to go back and see if he just posted the same figure twice or just painted it again - as in a separate casting. Was a Clint Eastwood figure.
edit: Yup, page 6 as Outlaw Josey Wales (from Reaper), same figure on page 21 (from Reaper - duh) but just as an outlaw. Earlier version in a gray outer shirt, later version in a dark brown outer shirt. Maybe he just decided to repaint the older figure? Or maybe he just had the figure a second time and just painted it a bit different?
-
It was a different figure :-)
I don't keep any of this stuff, it's either a commission or eBay bound :-)

Old West Gunfghter taking a bath - Knuckleduster Miniatures

I'm not entirely sure if that one is good, bad, or ugly.
(just kidding, it's wonderful)
-
I'm not sure who makes this Cowgirl figure. I've got a feeling that she was used in some online painting competition years ago?
Hi Deano,
That girl was a limited release figure from Hawgleg, (the makers of Gutshot). She was our "Tequila Vaquera Senorita". We released small batches of her, and another female gunfighter, ("Arizona"), a few years back, (around 2013-2014, IIRC).

15mm Old West Gunfighters from Blue Moon

15mm Old West Civilians from Blue Moon

More very nice figures...
-
I’m sold. Now I’ve got to get my hands on some of those 15mm Blue Moon sets!
Dan
-
Oh so very nice to see the Blue Moon 15 mm figures getting painted up.
Dare we hope that the two different packs in evidence will get fully painted? More than 40 more figures if so (one of them mounted)!
And what of the other three sets of figures - Cowboys, Mounted Cowboys, and Saloon Set? If he paints all of those that would add another 85 figures with 30 of them mounted - and a bunch of cool detailing pieces if those get painted.
Then there is the gallows set and the casualties plus the Stagecoach and Conestoga wagon. Hope we see it all. If not, just these are a treat.
Buckboard and Doctor's Buggy? Apaches, mounted and on foot?
Heck, we can even hope for the Warpaint range that would add in the Lakota and the cavalry! :D
That saloon owner figure is awesome. Great job.
-
15mm Old West Lawmen from Blue Moon
-
More goodness from The Brush Master. (No, not "a" brush master but "The". Or so says I.)
Again, looking forward to more. Hopefully.
-
15mm Old West Standing Horses from Blue Moon
-
Nice. I find that a little bit of work on legs and faces makes horses just look better. Well, for us mere 'mortal' painters.
Bluemoon's Old West range is almost certainly the easiest range to get everything you want quickly. Next best is Peter Pig. Too bad the two vary so much in size, one range larger, the other smaller. Bluemoon could have added more casualty figures, though.
Seeing the horses gives me more hope we will eventually see the full range from Deano's brushwork.
Hmm, I wonder if he will do the town buildings?! Actually, in my opinion, the weakest element in the range. Not because of quality but because they are so large in comparison to the figures - probably purposeful for skirmish style gaming. But easily large enough to use with 20 mm figures.
-
15mm Old West Standing Horses from Blue Moon
-
Keep 'em coming, Deano. Loving seeing the stuff painted.
-
15mm Old West Mounted Gunfighters from Blue Moon

Yet more goodness.
And Dan, if you are paying attention, have you gotten hold of some of those Bluemoon Old West figures yet? I've been priming stuff of late - though not all Bluemoon. Focus really on FFL for the moment but minor Old West distractions.
Deano's lovely brush work is contributing to the distractions! ;)

Those guys (and horses) look good! Well done!

A question for Deano: on average, roughly how long does it take you to paint a horse and rider - or just a foot figure? I'm talking 'one-offs', not production line painting (I can do a decent 15 ACW figure in about 6 minutes as part of a production line project, longer for one-offs. Much longer at your level - for me, if I could even do that well which is doubtful.).
And, of course, more nice figures.
-
All my painting is production line :-)

I do not think that means the same thing as it does to me... certainly doesn't look like my version of production line. lol
Wonderful work as always.

Delightful - and only 21 more to go! lol. Well, if you do the one that comes with all the foot figures and the Full set of 30 mounted figures. In due time I do hope! :D

Those gunfighters look great! Well done, son!

One day, if the figures aren't dispersed before hand, it would be nice to see a shot of all of your old west 15s grouped together.

nice additions

Deadwood? Bluemoon? In 15 mm? That had me going back and double checking those figures are really from Bluemoon in 15 mm - and, yes, I found them in three different sets. Very nice match up of the mounted and dismounted man!
-
That ain't no "man". That's Calamity Jane!
-
Mmm, Pan Marek pay be right that about Calamity Jane! Sometimes hard to tell in 15 and even 18 mm figures. Still lovely work.
-
More great-looking figures!

And more cool old west 15 mm figures. Curious if you are choosing the figure matches or if this is a commission project and the customer is matching the figures? Doesn't matter much. Makes for some nice matchups - and gives me a need to go back and check more carefully in my own collection of figures waiting paint to include all shown here so far.
Keep 'em coming!

71 Blue Moons and rising (counting the horses). Fun watching - and inspiring. Time, I need time to get to my own.
All very nice work as usual.

All very nice work indeed! Well done!

Very late to this thread - really beautiful work Deano. As someone who has recently become interested in Blue Moons 15mm West miniatures and has never seen them in person I have a question: Is the mounted cowboy set mounted versions of the sculpts in the Cowboys on foot set? (I realise the cowboy set has 31 chaps and the mounted 30) It would make sense but it’s quite hard to tell from the website pictures (you’re painting has changed the way I look at them).
Thank you for your help,
Andrew

Some are, but not all.

Great thank you, I could see a few that I thought matched (reaffirmed by your paint jobs of them). I think I shall have to get some for myself.

Beautiful painting on those 15mm miniatures.
-
The painting is lovely. Might just be me but the sculpting on those Mex Rev figures looks a bit more clunky than the Old West line. I was always impressed by the movement and character they got into those cowboys and gunfighters, without them having that voodoo doll look that some 15mm figures have!
-
Hmm, seeing those Angry Civilians from the new Mex Rev range gets me tempted - and my Old Glory Army Card is still active for a couple more weeks. Not that I have the slightest need to add anything at all to my overall collections and definitely not to my Old West. But temptation...temptation. :o
-
Great work Deano, I like the chap in the red and white shirt (painting), the pose however looks like he’s about to try and fling that rifle as far away as possible from himself.
