My first offering on the Pulp Boards.
I've had the Pulp Alley rules for around a year and still haven't given them a test drive, so I thought I'd paint up some pulp figs as a break from all the sci fi, and put a couple of leagues together to give 'em a spin.
Here's the first of the lot. Statuesque Phantom Ace with a head swap from a Hasslefree fig.
I love the Statuesque figs, they've got such clean lines to them, they're a real pleasure to behold, but I guess I just wanted to make him mine, hence the head swap.

Hero or villain? As yet to be decided.
He also needs a name if you have any ideas.
I was thinking of Col. Jack Tempest, what do you think?
Any better ideas?

Great conversion, lovely painting.
-
I did the same thing. I gave him a bare head. more heroic looking in my mind. I've named my character "Nick Wilde".
-
Looks great! I did a headswap for Minerva when I made my Indian league.
I've named my character "Nick Wilde".
Crazy like a fox ;)
-
Beautiful!
-
Excellent work! Reminds me a little of the Rutger Hauer character in Blade Runner.
-
Wonderful brush work. I also like the name choice.
-
He is great! Love the paint job :-* :-* and I agree with warrenbruhn :D
LB
-
Great paint job, and love the headswap.
-
Well that works a treat! :-*
-
Seriously nice. :-*
-
Excellent paintjob, the face is great.
-
Great work! Thanks for sharing. I really like the head swap, and your name is cool too. Sounds like a "good-guy".
Was the head swap pretty straight forward?
-
Great! Slippery Jim DeGriz!
-
Was the head swap pretty straight forward?
It's easy as long as you're not trying to save the original head, which was my intention :?. You just saw it off and then drill out the neck with progressively larger bits.
Thanks for all the positive feed back folks.

I was thinking the same thing.
Great job on the conversion and excellent painting too.
-
Wonderful brushwork.
That face is stunning!
:-* :-*
-
Very nice!
-
Nice work! He kind of reminds me of a 1930's version of Race Bannon from Johnny Quest.
-
Thanks for the feedback folks.
I couldn't not paint up this trio of cads as some villainous opposition for our hero.

These look as good as your original post - excellent
-
Very cool! :-*
-
That's fantastic :o
-
Brill! :D :-* I feel as though you're missing a dog now though!
-
Brilliant. :-* :-* Just had to go and order these straight away!
-
Very expressive. It's a subtle point, but I like how the original character has invisible eyebrows to match his white hair.

I didn't do that on purpose, I'm glad you liked it, but sorry to say that once you'd drawn my attention to it, it really bugged me. To cut a long story short I had to go back and give him some eyebrows. lol
Here he is again with two more from Satuesque; Mak O'Reilly, who I've reimagined as Salvador Rogriguez de la Cruz, veteran of the Spanish Civil war (don't ask him who he fought for!) and Minerva, who will remain Minerva.

And here are three more from Artizan, Jolly Bob complete with John Wayne style underwear, the mysterious Mr Greene and Lily.

Fantastic work, really like the muted palette you've used.

Superb paintwork, love what you've done with the Statuesque minis.

Lovely! :-*

Wow! Just amazing :o
And this ladies and gentleman is why I don't like to post photos of my hack job painted figures on here lol

Still excellent

Top work. :)
Who makes...So I can buy them...The girl in the white blouse and the (rather plump) fellow in the pink shirt?
-
Thanks.
The girl is Minerva from Statuesque, and the sturdy gentleman is Tanky Bob from Artizan
-
Excellent work on the figures. The head swaps on the Pulp Alley figures are great!
I hope you don't mind if we add the Pulp Alley figures to our gallery?
-
Nope, I'd be honoured if you did so.
Edit: should you require better quality images let me know. I've just switched from photoarsehole to myalbum, but I'm not entirely convinced, the myalbum images seem smaller and of poorer quality :-(
-
Better photos of the latest two.

Those 'orrible bastards make a seriously attractive force seen all together like that.

These are great. They really look the part of evil nazi goons.

Lovely work, a fantastic looking group :) (The Golgo headswap is great.)

That's a very nice, understated paint job. It really works for that sculpt although I must admit I don't recognise it. I'd quite like to pick one up myself, where is it from, if you don't mind me asking?
-
It's from Statuesque miniatures, excellent sculpts and great service.
Thanks for the feedback.
-
Thanks. Are Statuesque a little taller than the likes of Artizan?
-
No, they're a good match. You can see Minerva, the female with the eye patch fom Statuesque, next to some Artizan Turks in a previous pic, there's also a previous photo of a conversion of Satuesque's Golgo Santana next to some Artizana nd Crusader Nazis.
In addition, if I recall correctly Andrew has got lots of size comparissons either on his site or on his blog or facebook page.
-
Wow!!!!!!!!!!! Excellent job on these!
The first image made me think of Race Bannon from Johnny Quest.

There are some really nice French Foreign Legion pulp minis from both Artizan and Bob Murch's aptly named Pulp Figures, should you be interested.
My kids and I named the leader of the Pulp Figures FFL "Major Claude van der Gronk." Supposedly it sounds Flemmish, somehow.
-
Thanks for the info
-
Thanks. Are Statuesque a little taller than the likes of Artizan?
Some of Andrew's minis are slightly taller, but the figures he sculpted for our Pulp Alley line are designed to match Copplestone, Artizan, and so on...
