Title: 20 years old Blood Bowl beastman finally gets painted (update 16/06)
Post by: cyagen on March 27, 2017, 08:36:10 PM
Around 20 years ago (can't believed it's been that long!) a young student without money came up with a plan to play chaos on the cheap. 1 box of monopose beastmen (10 CAD) and 2 blisters of Chaos Warriors (10 CAD). So a team for 50% of the price of the GW one.

I never painted it, did some crude weapon snips, glued Space Marine shoulder pads and had a great time with a very bad team (you needed a double to get a M in 3ed). So now I've deceided to paint them as my test team. This is the 4th beastman painted over a period of 5 years. I'll try to speed up to get them painted before I retire.

You are too kind sir.

I blush since this is too much prize for my humble attempt.

Thanks!

Always loved the potential of the Chaos team in 3rd ed, but they were just so painfully slow to start in reality.  Took forever to get upgrades, and needed doubles for the fun stuff (mutations).

Nice paintjob and conversion!

That's awesome :D .  I think I heard that story before but it might have been mine too  :) .  I did the budget Beastman grab but never got around to painting them.  I ended up preferring Dark Elves and found them very talented but cruel fate often dashed my hopes at BB rings due to the beating my imaginary wallet (treasury) took do to the cruel attentions of dedicated bash teams :P .

Another one got done!

i really abused this guy, I used it as a test for tons of new techniques and paints, but he tuned out well.

I can't believe I will manage to get this team finished before retirement! ;)

And another

This is proof that almost any accident can be salvaged. The primer went on way to thick. I scrubbed away so, it gave the mini a strange look. The paint would not "grab" correctly, but after a couple of washes and glazes it looked ok in the end, then the gloss clear coat went on too thick as I hit the end of the can, but still, tabletop quality and one closer to a finished Chaos team.
