horrid's 40k thread
« on: April 27, 2017, 12:05:35 AM »
I haven't done much 40k modelling in a while.  It's kind of a shame because I love the background and artistic vision of the 40k universe;  I just dislike painting and playing big army games.  I enjoy following GW threads and 40k threads here but up to this point haven't had one of my own.  When word on Armageddon: Shadow Wars came out I got excited.  Here was a chance to build and paint 40k while having the time to place an emphasis on characters and attempting to bring the rich atmosphere of the 41stM into the figures if I could.  I might even get enough models done to play a skirmish game :D .

I've had many Night Lord forces over the years these models are the first of my latest wave (As wave as a single claw can be :D )  which would probably make them mk VI as far as how I have attempted to portray the Eighth Legion.  Here are Brother Trajan and the first WIP for Sergeant Vuk.

Excellent work! I had already seen them on the SW Facebook group, so you should also post the cultists you posted there, specially the one with the Frostgrave head - it looks really scary  :o Keep up the good work!

Seconded. They look very "tru-scale" and I'm curious how you've achieved that.

Those legs look like they belong to a new Khorne model.

Thanks for the kind words on the models everyone!  The figures are about 50/50 Calth and AoS Khorne parts.  The Lowers are on the painted model (Brother Trajan) are Wrathmonger legs.  The legs on Sergeant Vux are from the plastic Chaos Lord model.  Once I get the cultists painted I'll include them here too.  I'm not sure of how to paint them.  I want them to match their overlords but look grittier and dirtier so I've been stalling trying to figure out how to dummy down a very vibrant nest of colours.  I forget when I posted this earlier so here is Vuk just prior to going under the can.  I carved up his sqare base and incorporated it into the round.  With some feedback I made some adjustments to his pose.  I'm hoping the changes make his pose less rigid, more at ease.
