I finished Sergeant Vuk, the IC of of the claw.  If I can get a few more Night Lords completed and have some serfs to throw at any oppositions guns we should be ready for some Shadow War: Armageddon in the near future.

Vuk was finished after I wrote the article but I posted a retrospect on my Night Lords on my blog.  Included with the shots of Vuk Trajan is featured on a teaser title card :D .

Very nice - I like how the Fantasy parts enhance the OTT Gothic look of the Night Lords too, it's very fitting. :)

I added a lightning tutorial on the blog because someone was interested in how I tackle it.  There are lots of helpful tutorials out there but this one is mine.  My favorite art of putting it together was modding some models on a paint program so I included it in the thread.

I split a copy of Dark Vengeance with a friend so I could get hold of some of those nice looking plague marine models.  I think my, "Grand Design" is to build a Chaos Compact composed of devotees of each of the 4 powers.  I want imposing, characterful models that will able to stand toes to toe with the Primaris marines and not look weedy.  Lessons learned from building the Night Lords should give me all sorts of easy solutions for more orthodox traitor marines while the prefabricated thousand suns and the plague marines should be good to go out of the box.  I think I might have the most fun with the Emperors children because I think the AoS Stormcast would make awesome Children.  Here is the test paint WIP for my first Plague Marine.  I started with an olive scheme but preferred the mustard because it was warmer and left me feeling a bit of a festerglow rather than the drab and clinical green.  Meet the first Brother belonging to The Plague of Amber.

I measured 35mm at eye level from the soles of the feet.  The figure is based on a 32mm round and absolutely dominates it.  Very imposing figure and quite a bit of fun to paint.

I finished up the test models.  I like where he ended up and plan to stick with this scheme.  I don't think I like the green goo though.  Replacing it with yellow phlegm would probably be nicer.  I think I have a, "big idea" for my 40k project.  I hate painting the same models repeatedly so maybe a combined chaos force with elements from each of the powers.

Nice concept well executed.
