A small tussle in the Sudan.
« on: April 27, 2017, 10:38:00 PM »
I've finally found time to get some photos downloaded and thought I'd post a few on here. Phone was used so I apologise about the quality of one of them, and the lighting in my shed isn't marvellous, but you get the overall idea. There's approx 500 ansar on the table with 24 camels and 36 Baggara cavalry, 2 Krupps and a Gatling trying to stop a British relief column from reaching the Egyptian garrison, along with some Bashi Bazouks and the West Kents. Unfortunately the British were beaten off and the garrison succumbed anyway. Currently it's 2-0 to the Mahdi on this table.  :D

If I put the rest of the Egyptians, Sudanese and British Imperial forces on the table there'd be around 1000 figures crammed on, and I'd need a bigger shed! Table is 12ft x 5ft. The mat is by Tinywargames in case anyone is interested, and we use Black Powder. The markers in the bottom right hand corner are used to denote disordered (the wounded figures) and shaken, in the Mahdists case shown by a spear and shield, and for the Imperial forces a backpack, ammo box and pith helmet.

A very impressive setup indeed.

Large units are definitely the way to go for this period.

Most impressive - seeing hundreds of tribals in 28mm is wonderful...and the table isn't that shabby either ;)
