Project Barsoom
« on: April 30, 2017, 09:52:54 AM »
I'm reading the cycle of Mars and it inspire me to create my (plastic) minis for John Carter and Cie
Here are some red men and some tharks.

Sorry for the photos

Swordmen of Helium

Soldiers of Helium

Pilot of Helium and a John Carter with Thark cloths

Tharks

For redmen, I used zulu warlord with victrix carthaginian head, and bitz from Perry and frostgrave
For greenmen, I used GW 40k Kroots and i need to make some tusks

I will make some Zodangians later.

Bye,

Askellad

Ditto.

Of course, most folk use Kroot as Parrotmen of Venus, but I must say, assuming you have a bunch to convert, does seem to work.

I thought the warriors of Zodanga were just different red men from Helium's. Thoughts on how you're making them different? Assyrian, or even, Chinese helmets?

Actually I was thinking of converting orc hunter from the hobbit with iberic head from victrix but I need to wait the reception of my order. I want to see if its possible or if it looks too "savage".

Bloody awesome! That's an impressive demonstration of what you can do with modern 28mm plastics.

Looking good! Those models work well in their new roles. Kind of reminds me of the way props and sets from historical productions would often be re-purposed to sci-fi (see the original Flash Gordon shorts and of course the 60s Star Trek-so many worlds that just happened to match eras of our own history ;)). Great idea anyway-looking forward to seeing them painted :)

Funny, I would have thought someone in the UK would have invoked the Trigan Empire...  :D

The point is that these actually match some of the illustrations associated with Barsoom.

Building and gaming the Trigan Empire is one of the most sanity threatening projects bouncing around in my skull the last few years.....

Here are the news !

I've changed my mind for zodangians and I used the zulu with furs and dark elves GW arms.

Zodanga Faction

My first idea for Zodanga are now for ... Black Pirates Of Barsoom !!!
So orcs hunters and darks elves arms too with iberic victrix head and some others.

The all pirates guys

I have make two new Heliumite pilots (here with the first one)

For the end, this is my first test for Therns but I find them a little bit too big.

I plan to do a Thark Jeddak and some ships ( one per faction)

Sorry for the shiny photos but it is sunny today and thanks you for reading,
Askellad
