Hi all,
I would like to share with you some buildings I've made for my Pirate Island.
The first one is a Spanish style hacienda

Thanks! This first building of the project was an experiment. I dressed the cardboard with Photoshopped paper, then covered it with stucco, adding as less water as possible, waiting to see if the stucco is going to "drink" the ink and it worked... The ink came to the surface, giving a tint to the walls. According to my hopes, the cardboard did not warp! I won't try it again  :)

Well it came out great!  Experimentation, is the mother of invention and terrain making...

Well, it was a "chemistry" between the make of the stucco and the ink, which, practically, was out of my control but with decent results.

In any case, no paintbrushes were harmed during the make of this house (apart from a "whitewash" around the arch of the main entrance).

Mediterranean style house

Next comes a house one could find in some Mediterranean island.
Or it could be a Spanish style townhouse in the Caribbean?

This and the rest of the buildings to be posted were constructed with walls of cork, covered with stucco.

Splendid stuff. The builds have a nice rustic look to them :)

Thank you! Intentionally... as you may see in the next posts, I try to avoid strict geometry, straight lines and clear-cut edges. I did not want to give complete realism, but a mixture of something between a cartoonish, partly naive, hastily done, worn and neglected look. I dont know if I have achieved this. Its up to you to judge.

Pirate Island small hill fort (night view)

What happens here? Please, don't frown! This is my beautiful hill fort! I know, there is no overall view, I promise to send as soon as we play our first pirate scenario. The day I finished it, it took me so long that night fell and I had not enough light to take serious pictures. Next day, I should have to hand it to Miltiades, for (safe)keeping. So, I decided to use a flashlight and, adjusting the lens to take some "night" shots. Moonlit night...  lol
