Agreed! Both have so much going on in the photos. The shading on both is superb. Tough choice...!

Alright, you two, give us a rundown on what figures are what, here...

I think I recognize the 'Mundans in Awu's, but who is that pulling the cage?

And I know there are a Hasslefree and Brother Vinni in there, Michi, but who are what here?

Thank you so much. Awu, that´s a great challenge to see my entry matched with yours - I love both the storytelling in your picture and the quality of your paintjobs!  :-*

I know there are a Hasslefree and Brother Vinni in there, Michi, but who are what here?

Three armed black females are by Hasslefree, the lady in blue dress is from Ral Partha, the rest is from Brother Vinni, apart from the male slave who is from my lead pile (uncertain origin...).

I am more impressed for that.  Well done sir.

Three armed black females are by Hasslefree, the lady in blue dress is from Ral Partha, the rest is from Brother Vinni, apart from the male slave who is from my lead pile (uncertain origin...).

I didn't recognize the guy pushing the slave or the girls in stocks - beautifully done collection.

Has anyone noticed how our German friends' keyboards don't do apostrophes properly? I have oft noticed it in the past on LAF.

German: But it´s Tarzan´s Willy...
English:  But it's Tarzan's Willy...

It's apropos of nothing, but I find little things like this infinitely fascinating (almost as fascinating to me as willies are to Hammers). That reminds me, actually, I have to make some Greenstuff willies for a couple of East African lads on my painting table.

Has anyone noticed how our German friends' keyboards don't do apostrophes properly?

There's a whole, quite fascinating article about it. The short version is that in common German keyboard layouts, the 7-bit ASCII apostrophe is behind a shift key, whereas the acute accent key can produce the " ´s " combination without shift by using the same procedure which makes accented vowels (the dead key followed by a = á). Then, like the article suggests, "the path of least resistance" makes some people prefer the acute version, because it only takes two key presses instead of three (shift + ' + s).

However, the ASCII apostrophe itself isn't really ideal either, because it was designed as a memory-saving character which fills the role of anything resembling a single quote, apostrophe, prime and so on. Good typesetting would call for a different character, which is neither the ASCII version nor the standalone acute. But if you use those prettier versions, some platform incompatibility is eventually guaranteed to break them so better just stick with the plain yet reliable ASCII character.

Nordic keyboards have ' as a basic, non-shifted key, which is closer to the centre line than the accent dead key, thus there's no incentive to use the latter here.

Now, shall we continue discussing Tarzan('|´)s willy? :)
